I am happy I am not alone in the fact this piece of art makes me extremely emotional. I just had one of the best cries I've had in a while lol. It is incredible what humans are capable of, through God's loving grace.

Sussmayr wrote around a third of the Requiem including a lot of the Lacrimosa but seems to be largely forgotten now.
@@paullewis2413 I know he died at the beginning of the Lacrimosa, but the best parts where undoubtedly written by Mozart. Confutatis, Dies Irae...

A not so dark melody but it's still dark melody, a dark melody you'll never fear to be sunken with or to be comforted with... I wish for this to be longer but it was too comforting that even Mozart makes this piece his last peace

i9sixKills Well Mozart, as a citizen of the former Holy Empire, he spoke a kind of premodern German. However the Empire gathered several languages including German, French, Italian, Dutch, Latin, etc. Hence he might, as every cultivated artist of that era, speak Latin too. Therefore this song is written in Latin. Regarding the title, by the means of analogy and remembering my Latin classes, it means, in Present-day English, « tears ». I hope I could help you 😜

It is absolutely beautiful - that clarinet soli brings such a sweet calm, indicating that one is moving towards their resolution. When I hear it on the right day I can break down into tears hearing this. How were we worthy of such wonderful beauty--music that seems so harmonious that it may have been written by God if we didn't know otherwise. 😥❤❤❤❤❤

I don't know this Requiem from Anime or Piano Guy or even the movie Amadeus.
I know it because it is Mozart! And this Requiem is unique and enriches your life if you heard it once and a mature enough to grasp what it means when a person (a genius) who knows he will die composes his own requiem.

I do know it from Amadeus! I was about 13 years old when the movie came
out and this broke my heart. Rather than how or from where we know art,
learn to appreciate it is most important

I know it because I heard it on the funerals of my grandmother(
Mozart wrote the first 8 bars of "Lacrimosa", but then died. His copyist, Franz Xaver Süssmayr, finished a lot of the Requiem, but there are other versions from other students, composers, etc. I think even his wife wrote down a version of the "Sanctus" movement, but I don't know if anyone ever uses that one. Also, Mozart didn't compose it because he knew he was dying. There's no money in that! It was comissioned.
