I personally hate those ASMR speed builds. They're ironically not relaxing to me due to they way they're edited. Plus they don't properly demonstrate where the parts attach to, making them very poor tutorial videos

There are also magnetically activated LED units now. Its really great for a kit like sazabi where you have to remove the backback and the head to turn on the LED. All you do is go near the chest with a strong magnet and it turns on and off effortlessly.
@@citrusjuicebox I actually got a cheap version of those magnetic LED lights from an online shop from China for around 3 USD. It works just as great, though it doesn't fit snugly to the LED area
For anyone buying this kit, I recommend cutting a piece of the green foil remaining on the sticker sheet, and gluing it on the visibile gray part of the chest, where there's a hole on the yellow part of the chest, it's not supposed to be gray but green, I ended up using a green marker for it personally, I think it's supposed to be an additional camera, maybe a bit like on the Nu Gundam's chest?
Out of the last 3 MG RX-78-2 Gundams released from 2008-2015, the 2.0 is my personal favorite for the following reasons. 1.) It has an amazing build that doesn't feel incomplete, especially in its inner frame. 2.) The completed kit doesn't feel finnicky with its parts, a problem I had with the 3.0 where it felt like a rushed kit on how much they removed for moving armor panels that warped due to age. 3.) It has a great assortment of accessories, even though some felt a bit unneccessary. 4.) It is the cheapest out of the 3 MG kits at 4200 jpy. Sure there's no chest articulation because of the Core Block system in its chest, but overall it is in my eyes the perfect representation of the First Gundam. P.S. I hope you could review the 2.0 at some point in the future.
Interestingly I had a near opposite experience when I built the 2.0. Parts wouldn't fit correctly even after cleaning them of nubs, the core fighter assembly alone was finnicky, the backs of the ankles are incredibly loose and pop off with the slightest movement, and besides the legs and the head it felt like nearly everything that could go wrong went wrong. I've got a 3.0 in my backlog and dread building that as well; I wish I had the Origin version.
The last kit I ever built. Until now. A day or two ago, I built the Entry Grade Strike Gundam and fell in love with the simplicity and posability. Definitely back in it for the long haul.
I try to build in a way so that the piece goes directly onto the piece I'm currently holding, which makes the video flow better. The instructions often have you putting stuff down, building something else, and then combining sections together.
@@citrusjuicebox you started with the legs then went up. Almost opposite. And idk some of the way you did it seemed way better than the directions. I finished it. It has a loose armor piece on the forearm I can’t get to be tight like the left, one ankle armor is loose. Maybe somehow I can thicken the ball joint? And sadly a finger broke off and idk even how but I can’t get it to stay at all. I might glue but then it’s permanently giving the bird lol Anyway great video. It was a great watch, nice flow. Got any other good MG recommendations? This was my first
@@Squintis Glad you enjoyed it! Most of the kits on the shelves right now are pretty good. The only ones I'd watch out for are MG God Gundam and Gundam Ver.1.5. They're quite old, and you might not want to dive into them without doing some research first. The MG GAT-X kits are pretty good, if not a little bit boring. Coming from the Ver.3.0, they're definitely much simpler. Easy to build, not too challenging, but will look nice with just panel lines and the included stickers. Be careful as well with the MG Ver.Ka kits: the Zeta, ZZ, Sazabi, are roughly the same level of depth and involvement, which is to say they're very meaty. Full Armor Unicorn is a completely different experience. The base kit it comes from is now 17 years old, so the same caveat as MG God Gundam applies. That's about all the notable cases I can remember. I just visited a hobby store yesterday. Anything else I didn't mention is a pretty safe bet all around (Arios, Force Impulse, and a few other things IIRC). Happy building!

i had a lot of fun with this build as my first MG but i desperately wish this kit came with alternate static hands, the injection molded hands fell apart on me anytime i touched them. maybe i just lack experience but this kit almost ruined mg's for me solely because of the hands.
You're not alone. Everyone thought "Emotion Manipulators SP" were an awesome gimmick when they first used in 2012, but they have proven quite unpopular.
I just got this kit a few days ago and I swear those MG fingers on this kit are so fragile and keep falling off with the slightest amount of movements. I thought I was also going crazy with the shoulder attaching to the chest taking so much force. I'm handicapped irl on my left hand, so I didn't want break my wrist trying to force it in so hard, but I had to get it on somehow, and then I saw you also had to put in some decent force too. Geez... I did like building the entire kit though sans those fingers and assembling the arm and shoulderpad to the chest.
I personally didn't bother with those hands and bought those third party DL poseable hands, as well as Bandai's own HD 1/100 hands. Generally speaking, I really don't like poseable hands. They're expressive, sure, but they're fragile. I prefer fixed posed hands instead. EDIT: I got those HD 1/100 hands, and they sadly aren't compatible with the weapons of this kit. I guess I'm stuck with those DL hands
Bandai has generally moved on to fixed-pose hands in all kits now for good reason: easy to build, simple to design, cheap to produce, and always good-looking
Hello. Did you have any issues with building the hands and/or fingers? The fingers on my kit keep popping out. Do you know of any replacements that fit?
I didn't have any problems, but I've built several pairs of these hands before already. There is some variation in tightness between different sets, and my only real advice is to be gentle and feel for the limits of the joints as much as you can. Ease into the motions smoothly and try not to move too quickly or sharply.
I wonder how difficult it would be to remove that knee armor movement, maybe just cut the knee armor and glue it permanently to the shin. I would also remove the splitting thigh armor, it shouldn't have it as an rx 78 2 or 02, that is movable frame armor that was introduced on the gundam mk ii in lore, but that's only a problem for me since I enjoy the tech development of UC.
This kit is honestly the best RX-78 Master Grade. Making a kit of the modernised manga version was quite possibly the best choice Bandai-Namco ever made, and it shows: The part separation, accessory selection, options of displaying it with a more manga-accurate yellow chaingun cover, or with a backpack mortar cannon so it can resemble its ill-fated brother the 01... It really is the best 1/100 of the original real robot. Oh, and for those who want their 02 fix on a budget, the High Grade is also worth checking out. You can even assemble it into the later Mid-type variant which is featured as the depiction of the Gundam in the Cucuruz Doan's Island film!

I picked up those DL Dalin hands and they work better than the ones that come with the kit

I didn't use to care so much, but after some thinking, seeing sliding armor gimmicks on RX-78 kits bothers me too.

What's better RX-78-2 Ver 3.0 or origin?
I like 3.0 more, but Origin is easier to build
Great kit. But i dont recommend it to play around to much. Hip joint is intricate. Mine broke . Also the fingers are so loose . I'll give it 3.5/5
I'm not a fan of the swing-down design either. Definitely needs some reinforcement.
