I do a lot of magnet fishing with powerful magnets and i get my magnets stuck together quite frequently because i use 2 or more magnets at a time.
In this video i accidently got 2 powerful neodymium magnets stuck together, one was 770kg pull and the ither is a 500kg pull magnet.
I have seen this design on the internet and fancied making my own version to seperate my own magnets.

Yep only trouble with using powerful magnets they are a bit dangerous when close together

Mate to separate the magnets all you have to do is get a wide metal taping knife like they use for drywall I believe they are 12”x 3” place it between the two magnets and use a small hammer to tap it between the two magnets. Once you get it started they will come right apart !!!!
Cool will look ibto that but what happens if the taping knife is magnetic

The show was called The Six Million Dollar Man He crashed in his jet.The government replaced his damaged limbs with mechanical ones that gave him super strength and speed ( which you reminded me of sawing that board due to his robotic bionic technology replacement body parts he would of been able to saw the wood that fastYou could probably find episodes to the show on the internet by Googling episodes of 'The Six Million Dollar Man's who is Steve Austin played by actor Lee Majors / There is also one called The Bionic Woman ( Jamie) played by actress Lindsey Wagner 😀 Think the shows came out late 70's early 80's❤👍✌

Great video pal ive got the 700kg double sided and its a bit of a bummer when it gets stuck to side of canals ive even been home before and come back with a bar to pry it off 😂

Oh very good. Yes rare earth is the best composition magnet for strongest magnets! Even a couple small magnets i have, have 1200 gauss rating.. pretty strong pull.

How strong is the rating for those magnets gauss rating would be a single digit number or a double digit number...
Currently, the strongest permanent magnets are those made with rare-earth metals such as neodymium. Their magnetic strength can be more than 14,000 gauss. This figure can also be stated as 14 Kilogauss (KGs).
The magnets companys never publish this data and i dont have the means nor the tech to test this
can you recommend what kind of wood to buy for this?
I just used scrap wood as it was a one off idea

@@drasticg They would be good on the river Tyne down the Quayside , i don't think anyones done that yet mind it's huge with a strong tide as it goes out to sea but i'm sure you would get plenty of finds , I want to do it this year i'm starting for sure , good vids class finds , Did you read on the papers about a new law that states any finds worth £10,000 is treasure that you can't keep .
Im not sure anyone will find anything worth 10 grand and if they did i doubt they would tell anyone

Would be a lot easier with two opposing lever arms moving in opposite directions, each of which would need only half the force and taking half the strain.

What is a gause rating? I know the lifting strength is 500kg on one and 770 kg on the other
just bought a new double sided magnet, it came today and now it's stuck to my single sided magnet, looks like i need to buy some wood

When this happened to me I tied one magnet to a fence post and one to a land rover discovery, put the car in neutral and it separated them with no problem 😂

@@drasticg Oil it to get them apart. WD40 will prevent rust, but ought not to lower the magnetic sticking power. Besides, you can just wipe it off with Acetone on a cloth. (nail varnish remover).

Its the scientific way magnetic pull is measured Earth's magnetic pull is 7 gause its ok i will do my homework!

Not helpful becase i have only 2 60 kg magnets :D
This would work on any siZe magnets but if they are 60kg each you should be able to stand on the rope of one and pull the other off
@@drasticg Fun fact :The PULL rating is the point at which the magnet will pull away from the metal object, not how much it will lift.
But if the item is that heavy then surely it would lift that?
Magnets will never lift the rated pull due to dirt/sludge and rust on the items
