Ai: "give up we have you surrounded!"
Legend "All I am surrounded by is fear and dead men"
This deserves a like just for the 10/10 thumbnail skills
the thumbnail is gold, more medieval 2 videos please!
Legend playing medieval 2 can do a completely outside the box strategy to win against impossible odds and he doesn't even get hyped up about it, its nothing to him
At 7:07 the comments regarding loose formation archers being worse is true as the way total war has archers shoot is generally going to lead to fewer archers shooting if a unit is spread out. The guys in the front are now significantly closer to the enemy and that pushes the guys in the back out of range, so the entire unit wont shoot all at once. In some games only the guys in range shoot while the rear men are idle out of range. In other games the unit will not shoot at all and wait until everyone is in range to shoot, which this is common when advancing (are click attacking a unit), letting the enemy chew the front guys a bit.
I have seen loose formation work better if you make the unit very wide to minimize the front to back range difference issue, which if you have a too ranged heavy army leads to spreading out too much as your front gets massive compared to your back lines or the enemys shooters in range. This is diluting how many man are firing and making your army less effective and allowing a form of defeat in detail due to having too much "surface area" in your frontage.
With gun units it leads to the issue of a unit with fire by rank on waiting slightly until the units in the rear have the enemy in range, so sometimes a unit not firing by rank will shoot immediately when the front is in range while the opposing unit in fire by rank will wait until the enemy is slightly closer to realize they can shoot. It is is an edge case but can be the decider when you need to preserve manpower for a protracted shootout as whoever shoots first gets an edge in total guns still firing.
As a caveat this issue feels less important with smarter AI in newer total war games but remains there in one way or another.
Thank you for this comment sir, it shows how deep the knowledge of the game is in people still interested in this exeptional game
If I've learned one thing from GoT is that you should always charge your cav in first
They probably "sort of forgot" about the massively superior enemy force
The best light skirmish cav in the world straight into massed infantry, what could go wrong. Although the same genius also put the artillery as the front line so I'm not sure why I was expecting even a shred of some kind of tactics, maybe because of all the highly experienced military commanders who were present but apparently afk.
Clearly with deaths of Robb and pre-season 5 Stannis we were left with no one who has a clue about battle tactics.
No matter the video, the thumbnail is beyond legend! ;)
Thumbnail goes nuts
Thumbnail 10/10
Content 10/10
Battle Result 10/10
Legend: "just another Friday bro"
the thumbnail killed me
Gonna need the Holy Grenade of Antioch for this.
A.I.: give up we have you surrounded 5-1.
Legend: you should’ve brought more.
I just love how battles in medieval 2 play out. In my opinion better than newer total war games.
Take a shot every time legend says he's not corner camping
The thumbnail and "Arse Pickles" comment at the beginning of this video are absolutely wild.
Still love Medieval II. My first TW game, I basically grew up on it. Crazy to think it's almost 20 years old!
I really wish the pre battle speeches were in TW Warhammer as well , this dude was going off 1:18
And I thought that only the old Legend would have made such a thumbnail 🤣
Dayum. This battle is like a boss rush. Each army got a bit harder than the last. Wild scenario.
Now that's a spicy thumbnail
I wish medieval 2 AI would dare to send 4 or 5 armies like that...
Bonzer use of the infantry in Schiltron formation acting like a breakwater. have used Infantry Squares in E/Ntw like that but you taught this old TW player a new wrinkle for M2TW
Honestly im not sure i would be ale to win this battle sir, after all those years in still learning from your dynamic approach. All the best for you and all extraordinary people who still find satisfaction in this exeptional game.
That thumbnail is outrageous, more.
Great thumbnail 😂
LegendofTotalTumbnail strikes again
I think the reason the last army didn’t attack is because since their heavy cavalry has ammunition it counts as a ranged unit and plays passively as per missile advantage
10/10 thumbnail
The execution is still gold :D Legend is a true skaven warrior XD
Hello LegendofTotalWar, I have been watching you for years. I love your content, it explains in detail the way the games work and you often go into the way the mechanics work in great detail. Despite all of that, I often find myself discouraged from trying the harder campaigns myself, or any at all, for the fear of losing or feeling like I'm doing everything wrong. I'm not sure if there's a solution but I wanted to throw it out there anyway in case you have something to say for someone like me.
The only sad part about medieval 2 is that the late units are absolute shite.
The pikes are rigid and stop moving in combat, so you end up with two pike formations which are touching diagonally just standing there and not engaging.
Also Arquebusiers have a tendency to move slightly backwards in a fight. Which creates problems in sieges. Like squashing up against the building behind them.
If you want a good late game unit, play the Moors and get camel gunners. You wont be disappointed.
using skirmish mode on gun units stops them from doing the rotating fire thing which causes them to destroy their formation
Man! Those general speeches! I miss those! CA should have made that a thing, Legendary Lords giving morale boosting speeches!
The thumbnail is pure perfection *chefs kiss*
Thumbnail is god tier
Now THIS is a legendary thumbnail
sir, they have us surrounded.
Legend: the poor bastards.
That thumbnail 😆 But really, Legend, thanks to you, I've recently come back to Medieval 2, and I must say I haven't had this much fun with a total war for years. It's so much more immersive and tactical than the modern ones. The controls are a bit dated, but you can fix them using the Freecam plugin. Cheers, mate!
That is a legend tier thumbnail
Greatest thumbnail of my lifetime
When Legend has your rear you're screwed.
best thumbnail i’ve ever seen by legend
The Legend of Thumbnails and the Legend of Total War are one and the same.
2024 and im still exited about a m2tw video. That shows how awesome this game is
LEGEND YOUR MEDIEVAL 2 BLITZ RECORD HAS BEEN BEATEN!
Love the video.
Bravo on the thumbnail, stimpee would be proud.
Nice battle 😮 also the thumbnail 😂
Thumbnail goated
Brilliant thumbnail
The thumbnail had me GEEKING
Okay, Legend... Twenty six days into 2024 and you’ve already won thumbnail of the year 😂
Nice Thumbnail
This guy chooses wisely 😅
This was insane.
Legend of Total Spawn Camping!
legend cooking the thumbnail 😂😂😂😂❤
Thumbnails and Music are absolute banger ! Always love the Saracens Battle Theme in Crusade Campaign ❤
guys, I think he is corner camping
Do you ever have to do multiple attempts on these or do you just naturally one tap every one of them?
LMAO legendary thumbnail
That thumbnail is wild 😂
Shame you cut off that general speech, it seemed to be a banger.
Oh Georges my boi...
the announcer in Medieval 2 seems very confusing, because it felt like he was calling out battlefield conditions for each individual army rather than the whole balance of power. Which, I guess does make some sense but it made it seem like you were doing way better. like, yes the enemy lost half their men but that's only 1/8th of the enemy force :P
The announcer says stuff for each individual army, it may be confusing at first but you just have to be in the mindset of "Okay, one army has been dealt with so that's one less I have to worry about"
He speaks for each army, when he says "only half of enemy remains" it may not be true for the total, but for just one of the armies
legend of total war thumbnails getting creepier 💀
Hahahahaha that thumbnail is hilarious
👏😁
Thanks for great Medieval II content Legend! If anyone has some of those saving your disaster campaign saves for Medieval II Total War, can you please share ? I'd like to give them a try myself.
any suggestion what to do when i can't start my(steam version) medieval 2 total war on win10?
The goat
Today, in saving the Holy Land...
And I struggle against two armies. A skill issue indeed
Round of applause on that thumbnail. Just perfect 😂
Will you try out SSHIP? It will be a nice challenge for you at the highest difficulty I think
hahah the thumbnail is just ridicolous hahah
New veiwer here, I've seen a couple of your videos especially the MTW2. I have to disagree with your opinion on cavalry. Sure crusader cavalry or late tier chivalric knight equivalent can be devastating to infantry. But it has to be a massed charge with ALOT of cav. AI typically typically handle units poorly anyway, and if your infantry have decent longbow or crossbow cover all you need is like three or four units of cavalry in your armies.
Where calvary is devastating is in the flanks.
Historically the french learned the hard way about why not to charge with cavalry headlong into a prepared opponent
TIL CA CAN create maps without forests sprinkled everywhere to obstruct every ranged unit you have
Guys what is the best dommsta for Troy?
Incredible thumbnail
Hello i have some noob question... Where can i check keyboard bindings for the game? I see you picking horse archers and when they have ammo you send it to meele etc. Did you have it on video somewhere?
What is better dread or chivalry, and what is benefit of each?
Lmao the thumbnail
that thumbnail thou
That thumbnail LMAO
Lmao I just came to comment about that ridiculous thumbnail. Well done
Antioch had cooler units than Jerusalem in this game imo
Question to the respected Legend of Total War: I once found myself in approximately the same situation as the person whose campaign is shown in the video. I fought back, but the enemy, who at that time had only one province, systematically sent similar armies at me every turn, despite an empty treasury. How was this even possible?
The AI cheats a little bit, for balance. Sabotage it's unit production buildings and the armies should stop growing back
@@Crocalu I would not call the possibility of creating four huge armies in one turn in one province with a complete lack of money in the treasury as “cheating a BIT.” But overall it's clear, thank you...
what is that thumbnail bro LMAOOO
How do people get into these situations? I’ve never been surrounded, how do I get difficult battles like this without deliberately sabotaging myself?
Watched some of your videos, just out of curiositiy why never u play mods? Because u cant stand ctds, unfinished features and / or incongruences? Just curious
Now we all dont know what the thumbnail is. But we all can guess the ending to that....😂😂😂
Medieval 2 still amazing
The AI cheat, corner camp and still lose
Crusades campaign disaster battle! Crusades is my favorite, even if Antioch is probably the lamest faction on the map.
Dont understand why you need to delay chasing the archers killing your ranged units? 10:25?
The Thumbnail 😂😂😂 Jesus Christ
Bro why you are not playing vanilla beyond mod?
Bro that thumbnail 😂
The chaos dwarf disaster had the same last week
Its amazing how easy it is to bring more viewers. You just need to put a thumbnail with reference to 15 year old sex joke from time to time 💀
lmao omg
The slaaneshbots are pleased
You like that thumbnail dont you white boy
