16:07 begins summary of 14 rules
16:10 rule 1: action of spirits when we're turned away from God
18:10 rule 2: action of spirits when turned towards Him
22:11 rule 3: experiences of spiritual consolation
22:52 rule 4: experiences of spiritual desolation ('wait a minute' moments)
25:03 rule 5: in time of desolation (no shame, no surprise), do not change spiritual commitments made in consolation
32:31 rule 6: act against desolation (prayer of petition, examination, suitable small counteractivity)
42:15 rule 7: set of thoughts to reject desolation (God allows desolation because we can learn to reject it and therefore grow spiritually)
42:35 rule 8: be patient in desolation (don't give up a 30 minute prayer at minute 29)
43:05 rule 9: good that can come from desolation (rejection of desolation bears fruit)
44:10 rule 10: use time in consolation to strengthen for next desolation (widening our stance on the bus for the bend ahead)
45:51 rule 11: be humble in consolation and trusting in desolation
46:32 rule 12: stand firm in beginning of temptation
47:15 rule 13: share heaviness of desolation with someone competent whom you trust.
52:29 rule 14: learn your point of vulnerability (probably a repeating pattern) and use spiritual tools to strengthen it.

I had Fr. Gallagher at the cloisters on the platte in Nebraska. The Ignatian rules are the language for us to recognize the Divine as God uses our bodies for His will. They freed me from the chains of sin. Thank you eternally Fr. Gallagher and St. Ignatius.

Great interview, but was extremely distracted with Fr. Gallagher getting interrupted several times. I honestly felt it was the enemy cutting him off right when Father was about to say something critically important. I really appreciate this information being condensed into something easy to understand… Thank you! 🙏🏻

Fr. Gallager has made such a difference in my life! Sharing the rules yes, but also his compassionate way . Such a warm Father image.
I was a very active in the church and then moved and went back to college. I got so busy and had lost connection by moving. I see now, not knowing these rules I just took them as my thinking. Eventually, surrounding myself with people who thought this and also had negativity towards the Catholic faith. It took 20 years to get back and to just wanting to heal some things so I could let go of of the Catholic church but not have negativity. That was not God's plan😊. I ended up recieving reconciliation and came back to communion the following Sunday, which happened to be Divine Mercy Sunday. I wish I would have known these rules 20 yrs ago. I certainly see how the enemy impacted negatively.

Keep showing up and striving to do better, pray for your husband, pray for your marriage, and beg God for the grace to withstand the temptations you are facing. Based on what you've said it sounds like the marriage version might be more helpful to you at this moment in time? After you've read that you could read the other version as well? Check out Dan Burke's The Devil in the Castle as well, hopefully, that is helpful. Pray often, keep the interior mental prayer going and pray with your husband. Keep showing up, even when you don't feel like you're getting anywhere or your mind is distracted.

Personally, I didn't find it distracting and had no problem with the host doing his job this way because I saw it as more of a conversational format of an interview. What is “perfectly possessed”? I know Malachi Martin mentioned situations where he knew of people who were perfectly possessed. I’ll summarize, he said they seem perfectly normal, and you wouldn’t even know there was a possession. They could touch holy water, hold crucifix’s, receive communion, and not show any signs of the possession. 😮
But I’ve never heard anyone else speak on this or give a real explanation or definition of what the perfectly possessed are like. Considering these difficult treacherous times we are in, it seem more and more people are narcissists. Something like the scripture in second Timothy about what people will be like in the end times or are they actually perfectly possessed?

I think the host was just doing his job to make it an interview or more conversational. If audiences just want the priest speaking, it wouldn’t be a conversation. @unspokentruth Your statement is not true. Catholics do not believe or teach that. All religions do not lead to the same God. Christianity is true. With that being said, depending on the knowledge of each person, God can judge based upon their knowledge. If a person never learned about Jesus or God, they cannot be judged the same way. God is almighty and can do whatever He wants or chooses. He can save whoever He chooses. Now, if a person has learned about Jesus and the commandments, etc. the judgement of the same person May be different depending on how the person lives in relation to knowing what he knows and whether or not the person follows the teachings he has learned and knows is right. If a person chooses to follow his best moral judgment to the best of his knowledge, God may choose to save him. But we as Catholics believe that we have the fullness of truth and we need to follow that truth of Jesus and need to share that truth as Jesus wanted.
