    There's no getting away from the fact that the Hyundai ix35 is a distinctive-looking car -- its tall suspension, and prominent grille and headlamp combination help it turn heads wherever it goes. Crucially, the ix is 10cm longer than its rival the Nissan Qashqai, and as a result there's lots of room inside. The dashboard is clearly laid out and the car's fixtures and fittings feel solidly made. Premium trim cars offer climate control, heated leather seats, automatic wipers and a panoramic glass roof as standard, as well keyless entry. There are four engines on offer, including a powerful 134bhp 2.0-litre turbodiesel

    I drove one for a 60 mile round trip and it wasn't a car I could get excited about. I found it quite boring. At motorway speeds, the steering felt a bit twitchy. I had a diesel one and in top gear at 50mph, it pulled pretty well up to 70mph quite brisly. Inside it was quite roomy and had quite a bit of kit to go with it. The keyless entry and push button start was a novelty and a neat touch. All in all, not a bad car, but not exciting. Reminds me of a Ford Kuga.

    I think Mat should stick to doing the car reviews! My sister bought a brand new iX35 1.7 CRDi 115 Premium at the start of January 2012 and so far it's been ok. The fuel economy is poor but once the engine loosens up it should get better! First gear turbo lag is shocking too. Finally the interior overhead light broke after 1 month and there's a rattle coming from under the dash.

    Diesel engine is only worth it if you're travelling a lot on the highway, otherwise in city usage the dpf will clog, the dual mass fywheel will die if you're shutting down the engine before it is reaching optimal temperature while the turbo can also fail if you're shifting at a too low rpm range, just like in case oc rush hours. Did I mentioned that the deposited soot on the exhaust manifold can not only kill the turbo and the dpf but the fuel injection system also? The fuel economy and decent torque of a turbo diesel is remarcable but the maintenance is a downside because it is expensive. A new turbo is 1000 euro, a new dpf is 500 euro, a new fuel injection system is somewhere between 1000 - 1400 euro while a dual mass flywheel is 500 euro or more. I don't know why the hell did all these auto jurnalists forget to tell these informations before recommanding a diesel... The recipe is simple: city = petrol, ev or hybrid, highway = diesel

    • @martinjames6942
      @martinjames6942 Před 6 lety

      Zoltan Benedek Also fuel economy for diesels is low until they get hot, after approx 10 to 15 miles or 20 mins plus in colder weather. I drive a Nissan NV200 that gives 25mpg town work because never gets hot. This should be giving closer to 50mpg if driven on motorway etc...all diesels are only economical when doing a reasonable run

    Dont quite agree with the small boot space, and dont understand the comparison with a seven sitter. None of the cars in the same segment have third row sits. (or am i wrong?)
    35mpg is high consumption by my standards for a diesel to be honest.

    It would appear that every Hyundai tested so far this year has had a very favourable review. Have Hyundai turned a corner?
    I feel that the ix35 has the following issues
    If you want a 4 x 4 hyundai, the Sante Fe is not that much more expensive but is a better all round car.
    If you want a big family car that isn't 4 x 4 then whats wrong with the i40 estate. It is actually cheaper to buy / run and is bigger on the inside.

They didn't have their own army because they sent everyone to JNA. Croats had to steal tanks,rifles,even planes from JNA. Serbia wanted to control everything in Yugoslavia thats why other countries wanted to back out peacefuly but Serbs didn't let them and they started war by occupying Vukovar. I got to drive one of these the other day and I HATED every single second of it. To me the steering is dull and lifeless, the suspension is bouncy, the wing mirrors are the size of dinner plates so cause a lot of high speed wind noise, the engine is totally unrefined even by diesel standards, and the rev band is stupidly narrow, so I was constantly changing gear. I'd sooner sell a body part to get the extra money for a Mazda CX-5 than buy one of these.
