Why? It is famous for that. When I was in Japan few years ago I did visit great brothels(it's usually registered as hostel or motel) where prostitutes were just housewife's living in close proximity. It's service unlike anything in any other country. You go to brothel, you pick room to suit your kink (great choice)and the rooms are super nicely done. You literally brows catalogue of prostitutes with photos, kinks, what they do and what they dont, some are on spot let's call them professionals but there is this section in catalogue with housewifes, students etc just normal women that need extra money. If you opt for them then you have to wait because they need to call her and ask if she wants white guy (it's hard to get to such brothel as non japanese person but if you know some locals or pay extra they let you in) then she says sure or not and you have to choose another, but shel make it in hour or two, so what do you do? You can order food like in 4* restaurant that will be delivered to your room, you watch tv etc while you wait. Who also gets such good service in brothel, only in Japan. And don't even get me started on massage parlors etc. So yeah Japan is great for such Turismo but be warned you have to know some locals or pay extra like very extra or they will not let you in and even then many places will refuse foreigner do font be surprised or disappointed it's how it is.

Cheating is not really part of Japanese culture but a trend in some groups of young people. If you ask people in Kabukicho then you will get answers very different from the rest of the population.
In my experience living in Japan 90% of people are adamantly against cheating but the remaining 10% speak the loudest and create the most rumours.

In Japan recently, the lifetime unmarried rate has been rising, and the media has also picked up on the trend of young people moving away from love and relationships. The frequency of sexual intercourse among married and unmarried couples is also quite low on a global scale. What is happening? For your information, I am 28 years old and have not had a girlfriend for 10 years.
I have been invited to partake in the services of the sex industry throughout my life, but I have almost always declined. I feel discomfort with acts devoid of love, yet I cannot find love in reality.

It boggles my mind how people forget we are animals. The vast majority of animals do not practice monogamy. It’s not natural. Spreading one’s seed is an ingrained instinct and yet people’s emotions want to make it personal. I have been in the same relationship for 10 years and have even given my partner permission to cheat (because I want to since one person gets boring no matter who you are), but I somehow ended up with one of the last truly loyal guys on earth. He won’t cheat (and so I can’t either because I know he’d get pissed, and he’s not smart enough to understand my biological instinct argument).

Japan is a very patriarchal country. Not so long ago in the US, Europe and so on this was also the normal situation. Prostitution has always been an institution to make women's bodies available to men without being considered rape (which it actually is). There has to be women available for men. Marrying for love in a somewhat equal relationship is very new. Marriage has always been an institution where men could have women as property and have legally recognized children that are their property too. Wives have been forced to look the other way when their husbands would go to prostitutes and with other women in general... Japan is still like that. And sex exploitation there is a very harsh reality, and if people don't care about it in the West you can see there how much they care in Japan, who is known for being a submissive society who doesn't question the way things are...

Prostitution is illegal though unless it's Las Vegas. The government set this norm that it was a bad thing yet a victimless crime. Differentiating from sex trafficking of course. As long as the prostitute is doing it of free will and no coercion or threat then it is a victimless crime and really is nothing bad. It's one of the oldest professions in the world.

Lao either ur lying and don’t live in America or ur pushing a false narrative u’ve convinced urself is true… guess Pew Research is wrong and ur right huh.. entire fields of extensive universities and science institutions doing social sciences are mistaken huh? 52% of Americas across all political spectrums support decriminalizing sex work.. literally 50% with lots of dogmatic religious views are against open relationships.. 33 for it .. the rest no opinion/don’t care one way or another .. so ur objectively false.. 😂 like stop lying.. how u feel and think ppl think is wrong.. majority don’t hold that view.. also according to the research .. because half the country are relitards lot of ppl don’t openly share or want p to think they accept certain things.. this is American.. political divide is insane that most ppl are comfortable sharing their views especially on sex and sexuality.. it’s taboo.. it’s the same reason for decades ppl who where gay where in heterosexual relationships.. we also know main reasons open relationships fail is literally cause of “monogamous” ppl.. majority of fail poly relationships are reported by those ppl the hate and shaming from friends family an coworkers was too much they ended their open or poly relationships for mono ones to avoid the shaming… ONLY HALF the country is against these things.. 😂 I’ll give u benefit of doubt and assume u just by chance live around ppl who dude to relitard societal aspects don’t ring it up.. in y expirence which reflects the data half the ppl DO say these things half don’t… wut rock you live under 💀

  • @belle2496

I’m a Japanese former sex worker and I didn’t know there are women who are ok with it.
Some customers actually start to develop feeling or attachment to us, so it’s not smart to think there’s no emotional cheating involved.
There are men who feel a lot like women.
Not every guy is completely detached when it comes to be intimate with a woman.
I have seen men who have never been a player type, more like with polar opposite personality, very serious people who are married, fall in love with a sex worker.
I could see they were actually in love and they even said they were soulmates.
It’s kind of dismissive if a wife thinks she’s ok with her husband sleeping with other women.
    It’s normalized toxic culture.
Also, remember most guys always try to have sex with us without wearing protection if they think they have a chance.
When it comes to safe sex, men are not trustworthy.
Doesn’t matter if they seem decent or a good person.
We get tested for std regularly but they probably don’t.
If you let your man go to those women, at least make them get tested regularly or it might ruin your health.
I still don’t understand why those women are ok with it though.
    Think for yourself more.
Don’t just go along with what’s supposed to be normal.
Edit: Thank you very much for people who gave likes and comments.
I was a sex worker because I had a very difficult childhood which caused me mental+physical illnesses, some of which I got diagnosed, some others doctors couldn’t figure out what was wrong with my body.
My family of origin is toxic (alcoholic dad etc. etc.), so I had to cut off all of them.
Those symptoms got bad when I was a freshman in college, and because of it I couldn’t make any friends or lost all the social circles.
I couldn’t do anything except being depressed, but I needed to make money to survive.
That’s how I got into sex work.
Living on welfare system wasn’t an option at the time for me, because it’s considered very shameful.
Also, they don’t cover my expenses for alternative medicine that I needed to try to figure out how to heal my body.
Doctors couldn’t help me so I had to do it on my own, or the pain was killing me I literally wanted to kill myself.
Somebody in the comment section said I should have excluded married men from my service.
I know what you mean but if we work for escort service type of places in Japan, we usually don’t get to choose customers.
Many of them probably try to lie their marital status anyway if we are to check it.
I did it just to survive.
    I didn’t have a choice.
If I had a choice, I would have chosen “right" customers.
I mean, if I had a choice to refuse this kind of job and still had ways to survive+cure my illnesses, I would have.
    Maybe I’m a hypocrite.
Maybe I don’t have the right to judge them.
But those women have a choice to walk away from/have a serious talk with their boyfriend/husband and protect their health or find a better relationship.
I was a sex worker but it’s not like I thought it was a normal job or morally right.
    I hope you understand.
    Edit 2:
Somebody in the comment section said I had a choice.
I understand I did have a choice in a way.
I had a choice of living on welfare while not being able to do anything about my illness, or be a sex worker and suffer in that way but I can try different treatment.
I probably meant I had a choice but all the choices I had sucked and I wanted to kill myself.
    Bad choice of words. Sorry.
I meant I didn't have a choice not to suffer.
"Having been a sex worker" doesn't mean I sacrificed my body but had a substantially good life.
I worked only like 7 days a month and got average income to cover my minimal expenses+altanative medicine.
Other days when not working, spent all day on my bed battling physical pain and depression.
I'm 34 now and I'm still trying to improve my condition.
    It's been 16 years.
I still suffer from depression and pain in my body.
    I'm still on my own.
I still don't know how to get out.
Been meditating a lot because that’s only thing I can distract myself.
"Living on welfare is considered shameful."
You can judge me for not having been able to go against it.
But now I'm on it so I can never be authentic with Japanese.
My mother told me that I should have tried harder when she came to know that I decided to be on welfare.
She knows I even had to be a sex worker to survive until then, and that's the comment I got.
I understand you don't understand because you're probably from different culture but it's devastating to get that kind of reaction even from your own family.
Rest of my family also know my situation and nobody is helping me.
In their mind, people living on welfare=lazy stupid people who didn’t make effort enough.
Even caseworkers clearly despise me but I have to act “submissive” and “obedient” because that’s how we supposed to act or they don’t like it and they try to in some way kick out of the system.
This is how people choose to commit suicide, I think.
I thought about it a lot in the past.
    I still sometimes do.
But I lock myself up in my apartment so that I don’t do anything stupid.
When I share my story to people from other countries, many of them are like, “I’m sorry but there’s no way it’s that bad. You’re in Japan.”
But I think our country is pretty famous for having a high suicidal rate?
    There are reasons for that.
It's not that we're naturally mentally weak compared to people in the rest of the world.
I think our pain is more emotional and invisible.
We don't have a culture to "speak up" then people support you and make a big social movement and make a change.
An American person suggested me to do something like that in the past, but this is not America.
It can't happen, so people like me try to leave Japan and find a place to belong in somewhere else.
My plan was to leave Japan too after finishing college.
That’s why I leaned English and am able to leave comments like this in English.
I wanted to be an actor in the U.S.
My mental escape as a child was watching movies while being neglected, abused, and bullied so…
    Edit 3:
Somebody in the comment section said I can’t judge them because they might not have a choice neither.
    I know.
I have lived in this culture as a woman, so I know why they feel that they have to say they are ok with men cheating.
I even said “Maybe I don’t have the right to judge them” but I think I wasn’t really judging in the first place.
Bad choice of words again, I’m sorry.
It was more like, “At least protect your health at all cost girls! It’s not worth ruining your health or staying in an unhappy relationship!” because I can see my younger self in them when I thought going along with the value was the only choice I had.
I didn’t know my worth so I allowed men to walk all over me when I was younger.
I learned it very hard way, I didn’t want them to suffer in the same way.
It was more like an advice from older women to young girls.
English is not my first language after all, and I’m not used to having discussions and arguments with people in English where you have to be precise with words.
I'm sorry for all the confusion.
    Edit 4:
Thank you again for everyone who left comments.
I can't individually reply but I'm reading everything.
Even if it's a criticism or an opposing opinion, I think everyone has a point.
It's just that we come from different places and grew up experiencing different things while developing different brain wiring.
People read this comment in their own way and try to come up with their own opinion about this.
They're given very limited information about me or my story, so I'm trying not to take things too personally.
    Anyhow, thank you everyone.

    Yeah, I agree.🤣

@@MsTtilly “Prostitution” covers more than an “official” registration as one. Anybody can ask someone to pay them for sex, whether or not they’re part of whatever “legal” screening program you’ve referenced. If an 18 year old in college posts a message on Snapchat and says “hey, I’ll sleep with people for $100,” that’s prostitution. By definition. Prostitution covers any paid sex act of any scale, regardless of whether those people have been tested or use condoms or whatnot. Prostitution is prostitution, and engaging in it regardless of preparation will have a higher risk of STDs. I’m not endorsing going out to have random flings at the bar either. My only point was that prostitutes are as much people as anybody else. To say otherwise would only dehumanize them into objects. If that’s what a prostitute wants to be, far be it from me to control their life, but the fact remains they are still a person, and in the context of paying someone for an anonymous sexual encounter, they’re almost certainly random as well.

I'm not saying that they are like that, but data has been released in the past that suggests there are more women in Japan who have worked temporarily in the sex industry than people would imagine. If you or a friend has worked in that profession, it's hard to deny it. It's also not uncommon to hear stories of infidelity and infidelity from both men and women close to you. In a way, there may be a sense of fairness in Japan.

I mean… most marriages that are for looks end up crashing and burning as soon as a wrinkle sets in.
Also most people that have intercourse with their partner usually try to leave them fully satisfied. You darn well that dude is jack hammering for 30 seconds on the prostitute and then leaving. No connection. No care. Just wants to feel good and dip.
This is also why Japanese marriage and relationships last longer. If they want a quick one night stand. They can hire a prostitute. No need to fake it just sleep with someone and ghost them.
I’m serious. There are people in the west that will date someone for 2 months just to sleep with them, and then a week or 2 later the relationship falls apart.
