Thanks for making this video. My wife and I just moved from Redmond with our son down to New Mexico this past July. I went from Kindergarten through High School in Redmond and lived up in the education hill area, but seeing this video gives me the feeling of I am still visiting home :)

Big reason I made the channel was that we were going to move to Texas. We are still on the fence but as of now, the channel is focused on showing what I love about the PNW and honest reality of how it is today. The idea was that if we moved I wanted to have something to look back on but also show our kids someday.
Redmond holds a special place for my wife and I. I grew up in the area as well. We had our first apartment together on Leary Way and then the Avalon Apartments up off fall city. We moved up North for better affordability back in 2010. We said when we could afford a 500K house we would move back 🥴🤦‍♂️. Now our place up north is worth almost a million and the home we would want in Redmond is well over a million 😂🤷‍♂️. We still love to visit but it certainly has changed a lot! Did a night walk from the down town park to Redmond Town Center this last December as well (linked below). Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching!

I have lived in Washington most my life and grew up down south in the Puyallup and Bonney Lake areas where there is no real urban areas. I had never lived in any sort of urban center and I hate the business and scale of something like downtown Seattle, but Redmond is the perfect compromise to me. I have lived in Redmond now for a little over 3 years and I love what they are doing with the city. It's built up a little now mix use mid-rise buildings which I think are the perfect solution against urban sprawl. I mostly work from home so I almost never have to drive. I can walk to anywhere I need for day to day tasks. I live right across from the park so it's really nice to be right in the middle of everything. Once nice thing is that despite how much it has been growing up, it still maintains the small town feel being super quiet and cozy. There are lots of nice green spaces to walk my dog and its close enough to bigger areas that if I do have to drive it's never more than 5-10 minutes away. Once the light rail opens it will be especially nice as I can walk to the station to get to Seattle or the airport. There is still a lot of construction going on as new apartment complexes are built but in a few years the town should be really built up nice. I am always checking out new land use action signs to see what new construction is going to pop up next. I think Redmond is great for families and those who want to be able to walk more and maintain a nice quiet urban living. I am excited to see how the city develops over the next 10-20 years

Happy to hear you’re enjoying what I consider my hometown. I would love to be able to afford to raise my kiddos there and have the childhood experiences it allowed me to have. Unfortunately, it’s just gotten too expensive for us. At some point we plan on moving back though!

We really would love to move back to Redmond but it has changed quite a bit. Still a great area but it’s definitely not the same place I remember growing up in.

Concrete Jungle. Disgusting.why so many hotels for such a small town? Sickening.

It’s growing rapidly and a lot of new homes construction. Can’t really call it a town anymore with the size and population size. Redmond tried to limit growth for decades and did not keep up with the infrastructure it needed for commuting. In recent years, they have really worked on. Addressing these issues. The hotels support all the business travel and surrounding things to do in the area.

Concrete Jungle. Concrete Park. Ugly designs. Pathetic. Redmond town center is a joke. Nothing in there. Boring as hell.

Town Center has certainly not lived up to what I wished it would have become. Still enjoyable in the Summer though. Concrete jungle/park, not sure what you mean. Smaller town vibes but going through a lot of changes. The city is maturing.

I grew up on the eastside. Redmond used to be a quiet little city , peaceful. Now it's totally ruined by imported tech workers. Just terrible.

It’s definitely changed a lot over the last 3 decades but I still love the area. Thanks for watching!
