The praying might quell your anger and might help you remember that its prohibited to kill another person and then you might seek other means to get justice . The praying you are talking about is supplication to God and that can be performed at any time of the day and can also be forgotten at any time. The praying which he is talking about is a religious obligation that has to be performed at precise times regardless of your plans for the day. It will also require you to cleanse yourself and then perform a series of steps consisting of standing kneeling and prostrating while reading out specific recitations. It is neither a short process nor can it be postponed, so its effect is different than supplicating to God.

in islam there are categories of sin and killing someone unjustly is MAJOR sin. the biggest sin in islam is to associate partners with god and missing prayers is also a huge sin and the reason behind this is because if you kill a human you hurted gods creation but if you neglect prayers then you are not thanking the one who gave you EVERYTHING and this is suppppeeerr unjust. and if you associate partners with god then you are thanking something else for giving you everything you have even though that something didnt give you anything.
In Islam when you die and your in Al araf your good sins and bad sins are weighed and accounted for In Allah's book . As long as you don't commit something like shirk or pride and you make Salah before you die . The most gracious and merciful can still let you in jannah but levels even in heaven . Mansions houses rivers . Or look at barsees the whole opposite u can do everything right for 60* years and before you die commit a unforgivable sin like shirk before u die

People will always sin but a disciplined schedule that needs you to perform your prayer, that is a heavily involved activity, can stop a lot of would be sins. ( this is of course assuming you place prayer above all else). For example, If you want to drink and its daytime then you won’t be able to do that because you won’t be able to sober up before a prayer, and if you are finished with your prayers and then decide to drink it will cause you to feel a hundred times more guilty because you just spent the whole day in worship and in remembrance of Allah. If you want to kill and make plans to do so then you hear the call to prayer and go to perform the prayer. The praying might quell your anger and might help you remember that its prohibited to kill another person and then you might seek other means to get justice . The praying you are talking about is supplication to God and that can be performed at any time of the day and can also be forgotten at any time. The praying which he is talking about is a religious obligation that has to be performed at precise times regardless of your plans for the day. It will also require you to cleanse yourself and then perform a series of steps consisting of standing kneeling and prostrating while reading out specific recitations. It is neither a short process nor can it be postponed, so its effect is different than supplicating to God.
