Pool Construction Time lapse in Southern California

  • A video of our backyard pool getting built this spring. Project started in February 2021 and finished in June 2021. We used Mr. Carlos Pools for the construction. They were slow, but the quality was great. This pool has bar stools, a Baja shelf, spa and waterfalls. If you have any questions leave a comment I'll answer it.

    Absolutely Beautiful!! I won't even ask how much it cost! This is my dream pool.....Nothing better than floating around with a cocktail on a sunny day. It's healthy to dream!!

      Physically it fits perfectly? Because visually it’s a mess. The stones don’t match the wall the wall doesn’t match the house the fence doesn’t match the wall or the house the stones don’t match the existing pavers.

      We saved for about 3 years. It actually helped us refine our design and got it exactly how we wanted it.

      From June to October we have the neighbors over at least once a month and BBQ. During construction the kids next door put ladders up on the wall to watch the progress.

    Beautiful design and fascinating video. Like most construction projects, there were times when a lot was going on, but no visible progress was being made. Heck, at times it looked like things were going backwards. I know that’s just how it appears to non builders, but if that were my back yard and those people working for me, I would have gone nuts.

      @@lostchild2003 Two month stop isn’t normal, the overall time definitely is though; since I’m a pool contractor I can honestly say that material sometimes does take 5 weeks to arrive but never 2 months

    Great video - to see the entire process from start to end in one short sitting is really educational - who would have thought that they can just spray concrete at the walls and it is happy to stay there while they go around and render the surface. Very nice result - makes me want to get a reno on our pool and bring it up to date (Qld Aust).

      Thank you watching. The shotcrete they used is very strong and we had to water it every day for 3 weeks as it dried. Very happy with the result!

      @@TimDude84 Hi Tim ,I worked in commercial concrete forming for quite a while,but I was wondering how come they do not use polyethelene 10 mil vapor barrier rolls to put down over the soil/dirt and then pour the shotcrete that way the soil would not get mixed in when you shot it and also to help with curing since you would not lose moisture.I do not know about this type of construction just curious.Nice job on the pool though.Thanks

    It turned out pretty slick Timbo. I gotta say though, my favorite part is about right where the camera is mounted at the bar. They call that the ole Irish bait. Ive actually swam in that pool in person and the video was so chill I still sat and watched it haha.

      Hi, I bought a time lapse camera on Amazon and then used the Adobe to edit the video and put it together. I had to learn a lot throughout the process.

      @@Hajjat Tile, coping and stacked stone were completed on 10/23. Decking is next but that is being done by another company. The pool/jacuzzi price is close to 70k.

    Dam that inspires me to just do it myself the only thing I would pay a team of guys to do is the rebar and concrete the pool stools are genius I would have added a little cave in the grass area for "quiet time"

    Meanwhile a below-poverty level family has their water well run dry. Theyll have some digging done in their yard too, but thats just to deepen the well and hopefully find enough ground water to stay in their homes.

    The actual building process was interesting and the end result looks great. There is a tragic irony in here somewhere though, the construction of a structure that holds a huge amount of water, facilitated by weather where there was no water to disrupt said construction, in a part of the state which is close to completely running out of water.

      Thank you for the comment. When we built the pool in Feb. last year the drought had started to go away... I did buy a large cover for both the pool and spa and that greatly reduced the amount of evaporation. It's close to 80% less evaporation than before.

      Hi, We bought a Brinno TLC2020 Time Lapse from Amazon. It runs about $360. I really liked it but the battery life is shorter than advertised.

      It is concerning. When we built the pool in February of 2021 the water issues wasn't much of a concern.
