Well, you are technically right.
I would say the reason why they didnt buy Steraks is because it sucks at 1v1 (Its literally just stats and the shield is terrible in a 1v1), but its a mathematically correct build. Its designed so Sett has tons of W damage + shield. But I think Spirit visage is still alright since it could be more mathematically correct here than a Steraks.

I would take out redemption and that other worthless item and replace it with more AP sett should not be winning against morde especially with his passive being stronger. I would maybe get spirit Visage and warmogs armor for more HP sustain
Agreed..better get zhonyas hourglass rather than mikaels blessing..what's the point of getting a high shield when you can't even Dodge sett's fully charge W...plus redemption is not suitable for Morde rather get demonic embrace for damage ..and for ideal boots against sett is probably plated steelcaps rather than ionian boots of lucidity..

So uhh everything is nice to see but 1 comment I want to say is most of the fights mordekaiser tanks the full dmg haymaker which is surprisingly badass to see someone tank a full powered punch
In a normal matchup a mordekaiser never loses to a sett if he can play even if they build mathematically correct.
sett of course wins we are not even taking into consideration that sett can dodge mordes r and stun with e, also if morde uses zhonyas sett uses guardian angel allowing him to charge another w morde cant dodge so sett wins. if morde goes for damage like void staff and deathcaphe he looses hp and still looses the fight because sett w can nearly oneshot him. We are Not even taking into account infernal dragons, baron and gathering storm, in which case sett w would destroy morde, as the limit is around 3k damage.
How can sett dodge morde’s R? I don’t see it but teach me

1) Sett build is wrong thats not the math correct sett. Math correct sett's aim is being just a wall of fresh flesh to charge W faster and deal more damage. dmg reduction is out of question.
2) Sett making combos wrong. He should use E just before W to not allowing enemies gain shield
