I'm Mariah Alice, and I live the "solo female van life" with my dog, Finn. We've been on the road full time since June of 2020, and although our road has been met with what feels like a zillion ups and downs, we've finally gotten to the point where living in a van feels like home. Sometimes we're alone in the woods, sometimes we're alone in a desert, sometimes we're chasing snow or thunderstorms, sometimes we're trying to see all 50 states, and sometimes we're making weekly videos here on CZcams talking about our feelings, anxiety, loneliness, seasonal extreme sadness..... yeah. I don't know what I'm doing with my life. And that's okay. I think :)

Thank you guys for understanding the need for breaks every now and then- Creating weekly videos is one of the most rewarding, and challenging things I’ve ever tried to do, and taking weeks off is so so so SO necessary but also incredibly scary. And the support within this community has carried me throughout this journey so far- and I don’t have enough words to explain how grateful I am for that. Here’s to learning how listen to our bodies when they tell us they need to slow down ✨

We can be grateful for every video you make. Many people would never dare to live and travel in a van, and together with you, they can. That’s awesome! My reason for watching your videos: I’ve been traveling through Europe since 2018, but I will go to the US in some years. I want to see some interesting places and meet some people who share the love for freedom and peace. I wish you a wonderful week 🍀

I remember a few episodes back you were talking about how you wanted to get better at filming - and GIRL, YOU. ARE. DOING. IT! Loving the style you're developing and how you're finding your way. I make CZcams videos in a similar spirit to yours and honestly having our vision match the product is seriously one of the most fulfilling things ever. So happy you're enjoying my state! It is truly is the Land of Enchantment -- just wait till you see Northern NM -- it will blow you away (although still a little chilly perhaps). When I make my videos - one of the main things I get overwhelmed by is how in the world to even begin to capture it's beauty (taking my Part 107 drone test soon tho so that should help 🥸) Sending my best!

Very nice presentation of my state! Because there are relatively few inhabitants, there are many public places that are fairly remote and uncrowded. Carlsbad Caverns would not be one of those places, but it is worth hiking to the bottom of the Caverns at least once in a lifetime. You did not mention the Roswell UFO Museum, which was a movie theater when I was a kid. It has no actual space alien artifacts, but to some folks, it is a necessary stop on any national tour. Really good video- the still shots were a good addition.

If you’re on interstate 25, we’ve got a place for you to park on the Pecos River for free at exit 319. Central New Mexico is an enchanting area. The terrain is diverse with lots of nooks to find and spend some time. It's probably too late for this trip, but if you get a chance I'd recommend visiting Three Rivers Petroglyph area. You drove past it on the way to Carrizozo. There are over 26,000 petroglyphs on the ridge that can be seen up close via self guided tours. Even taking an hour or two to to walk around is well worth the effort. The petroglyphs are not marred or defaced and most are recognizable. Just a suggestion. Thanks for taking us along on the drive.

Great video! New Mexico is a really nice place to be - even in the largest city (Albuquerque), you’re 20 minutes in any direction from absolute emptiness. The politics aren’t too crazy, cost of living is very low, and we have universal Pre-K and universal college (free!). I’ve found it very calming to move out here, although there is definitely some spiritual vortex around Carrizozo - only place where I’ve been really uncomfortable here. As it warms up, check out Truth of Consequences (esp. Riverbend Hot Springs) and the Jemez mountains (esp. Bandelier and Valles Caldera National Monuments).

Love your wry sense of humor. You always make me smile and chuckle. New Mexico is beautiful and I too am considering making it my home base. Maybe we could go in on a place...lol...just kidding, I'm old enough to be your grandfather but I can dream.

I admire you young solo travelers! How do you do it? Finding your way. Dealing with occasional loneliness. I had planned to do this at 80. Then I realized since I have bad knees and can’t walk very long at a time it was not wise. My brain isn’t 80 and I think I can do like I could at 70 even. Ugh!!! Enjoy your youth. Never take it for granted. 🥰

I love these vans, but when it's windy they feel like giant sails and push whatever direction the winds goes. Kinda unnerving sometimes.
And, Carlsbad Caverns are awesome. Definitely try to go see them if you get the chance. It's quite astounding.

Great content. 12:00 to 12:04 time stamp, you caught 2 shooting stars. I slowed it down and watched it over and over because it was sooooo beautiful! I'm 68, single, with my little dog, and you inspire me. I plan to get out there with my very slow converted old SUV. Thank you! Finn is adorableness playing with his little freesby. Where did you find that? Thank you again. God bless you and Finn. ❤

Quick tip to keep your cutting board from sliding on the counter: lightly wet a napkin/paper towel and put it underneath (then you also have a cleanup cloth ready); or you can use one of those rubber circle bottle opener things

Oh hey! My partner and I have been wandering NM for the past few weeks as well. Our heater IS working but we still are a bit uncomfortable with these weird cold spells 😂 We hit up Silver, Las Cruces, White Sands, Cloudcroft, and got several inches of snow in the mountains east of Albuquerque! And yes, my weather app also said "rain" with the little raindrops. Lol. We just left Santa Fe - nice town. Some easy but not super nice camping just west of town. Now up in Santa Fe National Forest just off highway 4 and this spot is beautiful! (If a tad cold)

I hope you got your heater fixed, but spring is coming soon (he speaks this as the snow fly's outside), so only for a little longer. When you commented that you forgot to stock up on food stores, it reminded me to ask, how long can you stay out before you need to restock your van with food. Take care and stay safe (and warm).
