I just found this out too that the turn the other cheek is not meant to be a weak sign of submission. But in the old times people would smack you with the back of their hand to show you that they were looking down upon you it was to show superiority but when jesus says to turn the other cheek from that angle they would have to smack you with an open hand or punch you with a fist and not the back of the hand placing you on the same level as them. In this way Jesus teaches us to not be afraid of consequences but command respect not be afraid of a punch or more slapping but to show to that person that you are requiring respect. Jesus was and is very cool. If you want more on this read masculine Christianity it goes into more misconceptions about some of the interactions detailed in the bible and how some of these interactions are way more commanding than we originally thought.
