  • This track popped up out of nowhere. We weren't expecting anything to difficult on a drive through Riddells Creek and surrounds. But we found ourselves on a wicked little track that had plenty to throw at us. Definitely going to upgrade from All Terrains to Muddies.

    Ok so you went bush, you have worked hard and you are lucky it was not peeing down, good on you for identifying some short falls on the equipment you should carry every time you head out, including food and water so you can camp if really stuck.
    You will remember this as a “that time when” a story you can tell around the camp fire , everyone has one , all the best .

      Thanks mate. Every 4x4 trip is a learning experience and every recovery even more so. We hope you enjoyed the video.

    Thank you for posting this video. I made a similar optimistic assessment of my ability and equipment…. Similar result. This will help far more people than some 4wd24/7 demolition derby video. Also congratulations on keeping your cool and thinking through each course of action.

      Glad you enjoyed the video. I can tell you we were pretty tired towards the end there. But we learned a few more handy lessons for next time and we’re happy to pass that on to others so they can save themselves a bit of pain. 😄 Happy travels.

      @@CampAndDriveAustralia I think what made it a lot more work was you were the one with 4wd experience and your mate couldn't communicate and spot you, so you had to get out and check yourself, re arrange the maxtracks etc. Perhaps if they are regular company be worth getting him on a 4wd and recovery course? The other thing is, when bogged, Maxtracks are disposable and don't worry about breaking them. If the expense concerns you then you should buy the $80 ebay ones, work just as well just not as durable, but I've never personally used mine

      @@bazza2540 all sound advice. I do consider maxtrax to be consumables. But I haven’t had one fail yet and I’ve had some good use out of mine.

    I needed this video a week ago. I had exactly the same 4wd-lo issue with a 2018 Triton and also had to get the manual out. If all else fails read the instructions. 😂😂

    We were in that same spot about 4 weeks ago 3 4x4 with good lift 2"+ 1 of which is a paj the same as yours we couldn't get up there either we revesed the track to just to the other side of that water bog hole and turned them there it was a hell of another wetter when we were there though

      @@jasondiprose3075 yeah you did the right thing. We considered backing through the bog hole but with only one vehicle it seemed the bigger risk. Glad you guys got out ok. It’s slippery as hell up there.

    Nice vid...thanks for sharing .....does you Pajero not have a rear diff lock...I thought it would have a diff lock, that would be a walk in the park with a diff lock.

    • @CampAndDriveAustralia
      @CampAndDriveAustralia  Před měsícem

      Yeah the rear diff lock is standard. But we were hung up at the rear and the right side. Diff locks no good if the weight isn’t on the wheels. We still had a good time though. Glad you enjoyed the video. 👍😄

    that track you decided to turn around on. come on I took a commodore up that when it was pissing down rain for 2 days. use your car for what its intended and actually have a crack at it

    • @CampAndDriveAustralia
      @CampAndDriveAustralia  Před měsícem +1

      I always tell people to make their own choice. I’ve been up steeper tracks than that. But with the way it was chopped up, the camber, and the AT’s rather than muddies, I felt better turning around. And I’m still happy with the decision. I love that you did it on a commodore though. I used to go bush bashing in the Wombat Forest with my HK about thirty years ago. It was a lot of fun. Cheers mate. 👍
