- The new wave of LEGO Harry Potter products is almost here and I wanted to take a look at all of them in this LEGO set review: 76424 Flying Ford Anglia, 76432 Forbidden Forest: Magical Creatures, 76430 Hogwarts Castle Owlery and 76428 Hagrid's Hut: An Unexpected Visit.
Do they stand a chance against my favourite so far the 76429 Talking Sorting Hat?!

Bruh I just completed the last modular hogwarts castle system and now another? I hope this one becomes even better, since I found the one that came before the last one not so good. The last one I found good so hopefullly this one will be great. I will for sure buy all these sets except the little forbidden forest and the sorting hat, I like the other ones. The boat set has 2 connection points, maybe to some stairs to hogwarts.
900 pieces JUST for Hagrid s hut??? Wow.... when you think that a 1000 pieces were enough to get hogwart full castle at a time....
That's why price to performance shouldn't be calculated with piece count, but rather with the weight of the set in mind.
The BD-1 droid, the Bad Batch Shuttle, the Yoda's Hut display set... all of these almost exactly 1000 pieces. I made the Gandalf and Balrog brickheadz just yesterday which is roughly 500 pieces. 900 pieces for a decent playset is not bad compared to some of these other sets.
@@achannelhasnoname5182I don't think weight is a perfect substitute, but I agree the price per piece metric isn't comparable today versus like 2002.
Even in the old age of Lego, it was a shitty measurement. I mean, we had pieces as big as whole mountains. @@argosime

I don’t understand why the Forbidden Forest set doesn’t include a centaur instead of Buckbeak. It would have made much more sense considering the setting and the year.
My guess is that it's meant to tie in with the Forbidden Forest Experience tour, which does feature a Buckbeak animatronic. Releasing the car, also featured on the tour, during the same wave of sets seems to add to this. I imagine both will be part of the gift shop.
The owlery set is actually more a reference to HP 5, than 4 and the bal. There was a scene with these exact three characters: Argus wanting to verify Harry's mail (on Dolores request) who just sent a letter to Sirius, and Cho who arrived at this exact moment, which was sort of the beginning of their real romance if I remember well.
Does that scene happen in the movies? And have the sets referenced book only scenes before?
I thought there was some equivalent in the movie, maybe without Argus and the part about Sirius' letter, maybe even not in the owlery but in the divination tower, but I could not find it tonight (watching the movie twice in very very very fast speed ^^).
And I have no idea for the precedent of a book only scene in Lego.

3:43 I think it's so the wings look attached to the body when you view it at an angel, as you can see on the box.

Indeed. I guess when you get the sets for free it's easier to accept bad quality printing etc than if you actually pay for them with your own money, like the rest of us do.

white Buckbeak just looks wrong. they got it perfect with the last hagrid's hut set.

The new slope is going to be very helpful in MOCs! I used to use the vent ones, but they didn't look good in some places.

0:53 Isn't Scabbers supposed to go in the trunk too? Really looking forward to mod the Flying Ford Angila *a lot*, making it an 18+ display set rather than a 7+ play set - more accurate and detailed, a little less stable. ☺
I really like the look of the new Hagrid’s hut, it really encapsulates the look and feel of the earlier movies. The others are interesting as well.

Thank you Tiago for your amazing reviews. Just a question, how do you decide which sets will you review each time? Do you make a poll or something?
Because , although it's nice to see such variety of sets reviews, I think that sometimes you review sets that interest way less people than the ones you choose to not review. For example, I think that there are way more people intrested in the new Giraffe or Fox creator sets, than those small harry poter sets.
In this case, Lego directly sent him the sets. He probably doesn't have much say on what does and doesn't get sent his way, so he may not even have access to the Fox set.
Beyond that, it seems to be whatever sets personally interest him. He bought all the City Space sets himself, since he really like Space themed sets. He does a lot of the 18+ releases. He hasn't done much of the 3in1 sets in the past, but he has done more recently. He doesn't do Technic or Duplo at all.
Fang is supposed to be almost as big as the kids.
I believe Clint Barton from the cmf mini figure series had a owlet
Car = could be good in a city build maybe change a few pieces though
Forest = neat trees, some fantasy creatures so for medieval city or fantasy build
Tower = Lots of owls, a tower for either Hogwarts castle build or with some changes could fit in a medieval build (but might need 4 sets to make a complete tower)
Hut = again for a Hogwarts build, some pieces that that don't fit medieval so minor changes for that (but thought it was bigger in the movies, like another room sticking off to the side but IDK)
only wish the HP line was LOTR line
Let's hope these new slopes have better quality than grates and chees slopes that break after few weeks of being used :/
Is there a deeper reason why animals like griffins/crocodiles etc increase the value of the set so much? You can get a bunch of Duplo animals for a decent price and I imagine there's a similar amount of plastic in one of those. Is it the manufacturing complexity?

$75 for Hagrid's Hut still seems steep with what you get. I feel like the dog house is just extra padding that doesn't need to be there, the dog house also doesn't look that great in my opinion. I feel like the hut itself would be worth like $50-60 without the dog house.

I like the Harry Potter Lego but when I do speed builds they seem to not be cared for much. Not sure why.

First book I read was Goblet of fire when it came out in Portugal. After that I read the first ones and waited for the next releases
I remember the time when LEGO minifigures got real, movable feet. I dont understand what this is, but it is confusing. I recently got intrigued in the golg minifigure collection and Oh boy my surprise..
The second set needs more minifigs if it is trying to be an overpriced battle pack with how small the terrain feels for that price.

The only paper bag I've ever seen is the packaging for some of the base plates. Maybe it's just a US thing, but I haven't gotten a single paper bag in any set I've bought here.

I'm kinda opposite, I like the color/vibe of the Forbidden Forest, agree it sounds overpriced. Gives me quasi-diorama vibes.

and if you already have enough bricks to build these, all you have to do is download the instructions!
Fun fact: in both the books and the movies, Ron and Hermione are never in the Forbidden Forest exclusively alone together, so this set is really inaccurate.
So if these castle ground sets are to be added to the modular castle, I guess we can expect something Quidditch related. And also a Whomping Willow, which could pair well with the Ford anglia.
I hope we get a quidditch set, and Harrys patrons I missed out on a few of the earlier sets(the dragon, aragog, etc)

Like starwars, lego can not for the life of them (makes sense because these themes are popular and lucrative) stop making harry potter set after harry potter set. Like common, take a break for like a few hears and allow LOTR another chance to have a line of sets! I understand that in the toy world LOTR is not as favored, but they still have a strong history of a true fan base and I know many of that fan base would love a whole new line of sets. It's been over a decade now :(

As a huge HP fan (having a few HP sets) and huge cars fan (having a few speeders sets), I was hoping for a long time for the Ford Anglia in the speeder collection. Very happy to finally have this car, but very disappointed to not have it at the same scale than speeders car. Even if it meant only one minifig and no objects/owl, and 25€...
You know, it kinda is the same scale? I'd image an actual Ford Anglia being smaller in every aspect next to cars done in Speed Champions!

I guess I'm just a little sceptical about the building experience and details and the overall shape like you mentioned (but again the not very detailed car can be imputed to the real life car ^^)

Tiago does mention it when the sizes matter. For example, if a set has a ton of pieces that are just one-by-ones, he does say that the price may not be worth it after all.. He also mentions that an overpriced set may actually be worth it when large, printed, new, or exclusive pieces are used as they drive the price up.

Piece count can give a rough idea of time building experience. Building 10 parts together will takes the same amount of time whatever their size. And personally I'm buying a toy / display object but also a moment (where I have fun), just like I would for a restaurant with friends or a concert. If the building last one hour, or 10, that's something very important for me in the price.

2024 is my year for harry potter (to replace star wars). Thanks to hogwarts legacy, i love the wizarding world, even though the mainline books were not inspiring after the first read. I feel like a lego star wars retiree, the only thing i care about is the midi ships, the rest of what lego offers for it makes me laugh, trying so hard in every aspect and pointless.

Rowling's hate campaign against trans people is large, active, and ongoing. Her rhetoric has been cited in multiple nations' legislative proceedings to push for stripping away human rights. There are also other books out there. There are _better_ books. There is no need to keep giving her financial and social capital. Plus, in retrospect, much of her right-wing views are present in here writing. With hindsight, and setting the nostalgia goggles down, those books aren't really that good. But her hatred toward trans people, queer people, and even women _in general_ is horrible enough.
All the sets are 0/10s because Harry Potter sucks
