  • Nowruz, also spelled, Norooz, Norouz means ‘new day,’ and it is the celebration of the first day of spring. Sabzeh is actually one of the first things to prepare for Nowruz because it takes a few weeks for the buds to grow to the right height. Sabzeh is the symbol of rejunvination and new life and it is one of the ever present items on this very ancient ceremony.
This video is a tutorial for growing Sabzeh. I have been using this technique in the recent years and it has worked every time.

Thank you so much for this video, I'm just now starting because apparently I was using the wrong kind of lentils (the little split in half ones) so hopefully it will grow in time. This is my first nowruz so I'm so excited!!! 😊

What kind of lentils can you use? I have so many dry lentils but not sure which ones are the correct ones to use 😊

hii, what do you do with the finished sabzeh? Can you cut the the green and eat it? Or make it into samanu? Let it keep growing?

The best time is 2 weeks before, but you can get started now too. Happy Nawruz ;)

hi Shirrin, just wait a few days and search for the lintels to be wet.
I recommend that you make a new one, if nothing happens to the current one, you can still achieve it. Happy Nowruz ;)

Then feed them to the chickens or a horse, or goat… dont throw them in the trash!
