As a person who was born with severe spinal scoliosis, I've lived with variable levels of chronic pain that vary from tolerable to intolerable. So his music talks to me in a way very few comprehend
I get you, I feel your pain. The things I could tell you... but I won't. Your understand and I understand. Somehow we persevere, then again maybe we really don't. Or we just don't want to anymore.
I empathize. I live diabetic polyneuropathy which is managed by Pregabalin which helps. Being in chronic low level pain which is managed but never goes away as diabetes (Type 2g is a chronic disease.
My path is obviously not the same as yours or Ren but it does deepen my empathy for others with chronic illness and challenges. With Ren’s music I feel seen even if the challenges aren’t the same. Take care.
My feel is that Ren made this as a commentary on his own work and self. Like in Hi Ren, he created characters that showed different sides of himself... the confident rapper that can do Murderer, Animal Flow, and Down on the Beat, but he's also the singer that can be in touch with his mental health, depression, and get right down to who he is with songs/performances like For Joe, Chalk Outlines, and Sick Boi.

For folks who deal with chronic illness, the idea of leaving this world often has no su!c!dal ideation behind it...but like...the same way a poor kid might dream of being rich...it's dreaming of a place where the pain and the limitations of our disabilities are gone and we're free from the prison that our bodies often feel like. Obviously, if a friend often talks a out doing so, it's a good idea to touch base and see where their head really is, but...for many of us, it's simply like dreaming of hitting the lottery...just a slightly-twisted form of hope.

I would say that those living in an abusive situation have the sane sort of twisted hope until/unless they come to understand they can act for themselves. Life is painful and frightening and hopeless, but whether or not one believes in heaven, death is at least better for being Not This.

Brilliant reaction as usual , I knew you would love the booming hook in this one I have to admit it was so unlike anything elce it took me 2 listens before I saw the genius in it . I love that Ren never rests on his achievements and always challenges his audiences to go new directions with him .
Fans have been saying its like a James Bond theme and I can hear it , only I think it is better than any song Bond has had in a long time .
Fans somtime forget how long it takes to create a polished song like this , this one was written before Ren found his new treatment.
We have to wait now for a few weeks until Money Game 3 and then the album is launched . Ren spoke this morning of how he is putting off the course of antibiotics that depleat him so much, until then . It amazes me that he can write songs at all considering his condition. He said the songs he is writing now are quite different . It hard to be patient for such inspiring music .

Ren left us a clue what it was like. He dropped a video before the release of Hi Ren you should watch. It was a vlog post from when he was much younger when he was in the midst of his sickness. It’s worth a watch
So many of us who love Ren have lived or still live in chronic pain and illness. Nothing you said about your anxiety is foreign to me. We all react to experiences in different ways, but what makes Ren so poignant is that he takes his personal experiences and eloquently expresses the parts of life none of us had words for. And he makes it open enough that we can mold our own experiences to his words. It's truly a gift
Ren is one-of-a-kind. His voice is incredible in this. I agree, he is giving us a glimpse inside of what he has gone through. I think it is cathartic for him, and so many people relate.

I can't wait to get the album and listen to the songs in the order that Ren laid them out because I think it's going to end up making more sense to everyone then, like each song is a chapter and the entire album together is a book. We all know Ren is very intelligent and very deliberate in everything he does in regards to his music and the videos. My thinking is that when we listen to the album straight thru there might just be an underlying story or theme happening that we can't catch when we listen to one song a week and we don't know if they are coming out in the order that they will be listed on the album. (Maybe I'm reaching but I really wouldn't be surprised because he's so smart and there's a purpose or reason behind every word of every song, the music that goes with the words, the titles of the songs, the videos for the songs along with their location, etc.)

Ren has been battling his psyche long before he became ill. Likewise, Ren is seeker. Of literature, art, music, history etc. You can hear that in his lyrics- not just his ability to reference other artists, literature etc, but in his use of the tools that they offer: his use alliteration and assonance , of simile and metaphors.
After his years of mis/ undiagnosed Lyme he not only battled with his health ( and the system), he battled with the “psychological warfare “ that came with it. After years of being the victim, he became the student. And I honestly think that when he’s writing he’s got an internal metronome that is tuned into his cadence.

I love this song by Ren but have to say I absolutely love this reaction video. One of best I ever watched.
Ren and the amazing team behind him are seriously changing up the game! Ren is that versatile he could probably make a metal album and it would go down as one as the greatest metal albums of all time! He will inspire a future generation of amazing artists and as a result hopefully we will have soul and real artistry back within mainstream music which is something that has been missing for quite sometime.
Ren really is the most intelligent singer, rapper, musician, damn person around right now. He’s such a breath of fresh air who is incredible at everything he does. And he’s such a beacon of light for all of us with chronic illnesses.

Hello Nick, Ren is undoubtedly a unique person/writer. I don't think I've ever heard an artist who honestly shares their life openly to the world. I know that I am in many ways totally different from you and have had therefore other experiences. (Being 45, a woman and living /growing up in the Netherlands) But I recognise the part of looking for fights in order to deal with the chaos/anxiety/thoughts that you can not control. For me it was around 23 24 25 about. Going out at night hoping to get into trouble. Somehow I did not find it and eventually had to start talking about it. Luckily for me. I can't imagine how much more difficult it must have been for you. I am really happy you survived and you are here to share this with us and share your wonderful reactions ❤❤❤

I don’t interpret this as Ren contemplating self-harm because I do something similar when my anxiety hits top-notch. Then I pretend that today is my last day on Earth, and I’m just going to die naturally when I sleep in the night. This trick allows me to cope because i’m promising myself that the all the pressure will lift soon, and I only have to bear it for a short while (until the end of the day). When I wake up the following day anyway, I generally feel different or my circumstances have changed, so it doesn’t really matter that I”m still here.
It sounds more sinister than it actually is; a way of getting through a bad patch by playing mind games with yourself.
