    Heyyyy,
A comment I get from people who, are often new to my channel and watch my videos in a random order…like everyone does, is that, one video I don’t like a product and the next video I do or vice versa and that I’m lying! To my subscribers!
But these videos are usually years apart, skin changes, sometimes we let first impressions spoil products that may be really good. And more often than not, a product just needs time to work for us.
So today, I want to share products that, I’ve changed my mind about!
From a recent Tatcha dewy cream purchase, to a product from The Ordinary that I slag off in nearly every video!

I feel like people see products in a video (an "I love" video or an "I hate" video) and take it as face value like that is exactly what they're supposed to love and hate. But it's not, it's what *your* skin likes or dislikes, or what other beauty people like or don't like. It doesn't mean that it's going to do the same thing to their skin as it is to someone else's! People need to remember that! Just because someone else has a certain opinion about it, doesn't mean you will have the same opinion! ☺️

Story about the Cegaphil cleanser: when i had severe cystic acne i went to a dermatologist who promptly told me to stop moisturizing and only use the Cetaphil cleanser twice a day. I told her my skin gets very dry, and she 1) didn't believe me because "you can't have dry skin and acne as bad as yours" and 2) "you want your skin to be dry". Never went back to her and never used that stupid cleanser. On another note, CeraVe has been the best brand for me both through my horrible acne period and after Accutane. Used the hydrating cleanser when my skin was flaking off, and now that its normalized I use the foaming one. I use the moisturizing lotion and it's the best and most accessible moisturizer I've used. Thats after years of experimenting with all sorts of Korean skincare and otherwise.
I know its boring and not fun, but minimizing down to just 2-4 steps has really helped me

That's horrible for her to have said. Personally it's the only thing my son can use m he has mass cell mastetosis. We also use the deep cream after. Because the cleanser can be drying, but at the same time cleans really well. It also helped clear my husbands body acne.

When I first got it like my skin would just drink it up in a second and I felt like it wasnt giving my skin enough hydration because I didnt have that glowy moisturized face but after a few weeks I started to see real significant changes in my skin and its moisture barrier, soo much more hydrated now and it taught me to not dismiss products if they don't have a flashy instant effect because long term results are far better

@@sheherinj9743 I'm not OP, but I really like it! It helps with redness and discoloration a lot, and I have sensitive skin (probably rosacea) and it doesn't bother me. I'm not sure how to judge how well it does for breakouts tho: it definitely brings down inflammation and redness, but most of my breakouts are hormonal + under the skin. Not eating dairy has done more for me relative to that then any product ever has, including this one. The azelaic acid 10% has helped with the hormonal breakouts a bit, but I wouldn't recommend using that on your whole face at 10% strength. Maybe mix it with the niacinamide so it's like 4 parts niacinamide to 1 part azelaic acid [8% niacinamide and 2% azelaic acid] and use the 10% as a spot treatment only. Azelaic acid burns like a bitch if you overuse it, and it's technically a chemical exfoliate. It's effective but it takes a good 1-2 months to really see a huge difference.

My trick to The Ordinary's azelaic acid is to apply it right after serum, before the serum dries down. Otherwise it does dry to an almost powdery feel as you apply and becomes hard to spread evenly. If you're having problems with it playing nice with the products you layer on top of it, I have found that it helps to wait several minutes for the azelaic acid to settle on your skin before moving on with your routine. In my experience, this makes a huge difference in the amount of pilling this product can cause. I have perioral dermatitis and this product has been a holy grail for keeping it at bay without resorting to antibiotics or expensive prescription topicals.

-Pancake- czcams.com/video/sYbuL861WVI/video.html anything in the Hada Labo Gokujyun line is amazing. For dry sensitive skin, start with any of the white bottles that have some red lettering on them. There’s also Perfect Whip but I have not tried myself. You really can’t go wrong with any J beauty cleanser. I would look for more milk cleansers for hydration.
Here’s more info on the Hyaluronic lotions. www.google.ca/amp/s/btyaly.com/articles/is-hada-labo-lotion-the-best-hyaluronic-acid-product-on-the-market/%3famp Good luck!
Also, DHC cleansing oils for first cleanse are great! Especially their DHC Lip cream. I was never into wearing much lip balms but this literally melted away my dry lip skin and my dry skin bits have not returned since! Never have I ever had this type of results just from lip balm before. And of course the Biore Aqua Rich UV essence for SPF is top of many people’s list. But any j beauty spf is so light and airy in texture again, you can’t go wrong.
Also, for the Melano Cc vit c essence, just a tip: if ordering from Amazon, pls be very careful to make sure it’s coming from japan or a reputable seller. Many people received fake products and you will know from the nozzle but sadly won’t know until you get it. It’s an amazing white nozzle that only gives you small drips at a time and does not let air back in so stays fresh till last drop and best of all, no hot dog water smell. It’s genius. Just don’t cut off the tip cuz some people have! Lol. You can find a pic of the nozzle somewhere for how it’s supposed to look like. If you have a store that sells Japanese foods or J, K or C supermarket call and check if they also sell any J beauty products.

The Cetaphil has denatured alcohol and SLS, no winder you found it drying. I love your channel, thank you for this! 🖤🖤🖤

I’m never this early!!! Love your videos! You, Hyram, and Cyrille have helped me so much!! I’m 42 and we were never taught any of this. Now I’m passing along the knowledge to my younger nieces and nephews, this way they don’t have the same problems their Mom and I do!! Hope none of the ones I bought because of the positive reviews is on here. Lmao 😂 And I love your sense of humor, along with your brother’s channel too. PS Cetaphil was the worst for me. I had horrible acne, like REALLY bad. It made things worse!

spirit-howl 786 ironically it’s something I wish those guys would do a video on because everything is geared towards the younger generations! lol. What type of skin does your Mom have? Dry? Combination? Oily? I’d imagine her concerns are the same as mine...gravity is taking it’s toll 😂 so tightening, brightening, fine lines, wrinkles? I have some old acne scars too. Let me know and I’ll tell you what I’ve been doing. I’ve tried a bunch of different products at this point so hopefully I can point you in a useful direction.

Oh james. I'm new to your channel and I watch them not in order. My son has bad teenage skin problem. I in the other hand had , nope still have good skin. But, I do appreciate your honesty and Im listening to what you say. I bought him Cetaphil, I will be careful on how he uses it. Like your other readers comments sometimes the skin will no longer like the product. I'm learning so much from ALL of you. Keep it up James.

Your videos have helped me so much with my skincare, it’s something I’ve always loved and I have always tried to use Korean things too. Now I know more about what certain ingredients help with things. Thank you for always being 100% transparent with what you think about products!

i agree about our skin changing from time to time.. i believe this also has to do with the concentration of the active ingredients of product you use. like, at one time the product was actually good for your skin, and then perhaps later on, when the skin problem is already gone, you may need to slowly lay off of the product or use another one that can do the same job but with milder ingredients.

I feel the exact same way about oils. I'm "into" skin care so I felt like I should have them, but I'm not that bothered. I prefer not to use them and I do feel like they ruined the enjoyment of my routine x

I got the same reaction with Cetaphil. It dried my skin out. I re-used it and gave it another chance -so I stopped trusting the brant. I now use Cerave Hydrating Cleanser and it's the best.

I love the azealic acid! I use it for hyperpigmentation but only over night. I use alpha arbrutin then azealic acid and then a thick night cream! I'm mixed race so I have darker blemishes so I use it over a my cheeks and chin for example. It takes a couple of weeks to see a difference, but need sun screen on everyday!

Of course you're allowed to change your mind about a product. It's a shame the vocal few are so often unpleasant, accusatory, and entitled. 😒
Cetaphil was my mother's HG cleanser for years and she had amazing skin. I still keep a small bottle in my travel kit. I keep hearing terrible things about it recently, but it hasn't betrayed me yet! 😅

I have persistent eczema that gets dry or flared up often, especially during drier weathers. Tatcha’s dewey moisturizer is a daily! It lasts me at least 1.5 years so why not? Tatcha’s Silk Cream is definitely nourishing and my skin responds best with that! While Dewy keeps my skin healthy, the Silk Cream helps reverse my dry patches!
