Knowledge of the alphabet really would have helped me with this one.
Can’t believe they all picked a state west of Alabama!
they very likely blanked like I did
Yeah but Missouri wasn't admitted before Alabama or among the first 21 states.
@@simonpeter6most of us wouldn’t know that
I kinda misunderstood the clue myself. I can’t imagine the stress the contestants are under. I once had to say the Lords Prayer which I knew by heart for all my days and one day I had to get up in front of people and forgot the words. Like they say, walk in my shoes before you judge. How well would a lot of people with negative comments do on this show. Hmmmm. El blanko
I was able to figure it out in time, but i wasnt on tv with Ken judging me
For a brief moment I thought I was smarter than these three smart people. Because my answer was Delaware. I completely forgot about Connecticut. Duh.
I said the same thing. I also forgot about Connecticut
You were much closer 😊
I got the right answer by going through the eastern seaboard and looking for something starting with "C" or "D" (seeing as there's none that start with "B"), which was the right approach. That's what you did, right? These three just named another state starting with "A" and that was not the correct approach. So at least you had better methodology than they did.
I got by it by going through the original 13 pretty much the same thing
Same!!! Dang!
I honestly guessed Connecticut because I figured it wasn’t a state that began with “A” and I knew there wasn’t one with a “B” either.
Yes, you understood the question.
Love it when I get the question right and all the contestants miss it.
You know you’re back to regular jeopardy instead of champions tournaments when everyone gets a question like this wrong.
Fifty Nifty being alphabetical really came in handy here.
Same!
Yep, I used it... and got Arkansas. This was a tough one.
Same here! Fifty Nifty, when you can do it fast, can be really helpful here. Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, and Colorado could not have been candidates. Unfortunately, I don’t know my states’ history well enough to know for sure whether Connecticut was one of the original 13, but I knew if it wasn’t, it would have easily been within the first 16 or so.
I bet at least 2/3 candidates knew that song, confidently sang it in their head, and got Arkansas. It's almost misleading, because it leads you to believe it's one of the ones that comes soon after Alabama, but it's not really.
I sang it through too, and knew it would either be Arkansas or Connecticut. At the last second I chose correctly.
I can't believe none of them got this.
Playing trivia for money in a TV studio can be hard
I was playing along and I was in third place with $10,200, and I made the bold move to bet it all on this final jeopardy. Safe to say I’m now a two day champion in my mind
We all are at one time or another.
RIP Dickey Betts 🎸 & Congratulations Alison Betts !
Congratulations marko on becoming the new jeopardy champion
It's not how big the win is, just that you have the title of "returning champion" for the next show😂
I can't believe i got this right and all 3 of them guessed the same wrong answer. Stunned.
Arizona would have been incorrect as well from Alison.
Congrats, Marko - and we'll see you in next year's ToC, Alison!
Yeah I figured maybe they would go with the next alphabetic state but remember Alabama was only 22nd so really it was probably the first A state and stayed that way. All the others entered after.
Maybe this is one of the leftover FJ clues from 2024 TOC Game 7 or JIT Game 4 that didn't use?
I just started thinking of states in the East, and Connecticut came to me. Maybe it has to do with all the time I spend keeping the states books in alphabetical order in the library.
I was close I guessed Delaware
I did too. I was so proud, thinking I was right, until the reality hit that I was wrong.
@@mikemprov1303 same here and and I was like forgot about that one
As a fan from Asia (who by the way never misses an episode) - I have nooooo idea at all.
Got that... pretty proud of myself.
I knew it was one of the original 13 colonies!
Got it! I thought of Delaware first but then checked my C's mentally again and went, well, you missed one!
The guy in the middle was stunned when he realized he had 41 dollars left instead of 1 dollar.
As a native Arkansan I knew that we were 25th (after Alabama), so I proceeded with the alphabet and got it right!
An excellent clue, as it requires a little bit of thinking.
It requires knowing history, geography and the alphabet. What a combination!
I feel really stupid for missing this one.
Well Alison should been conservative why bet $8500 instead $19.01. I think missing Daily Double has trigger missing 2/5 in final Jeopardy.
Man, I forgot about Connecticut. I always pick Delaware because it was the first state.
My guess for this Final Jeopardy Clue would have been 1 of the the following 3.
1: Connecticut
2: Delaware
3: California
guessed it
Everyone who thought this was too easy should take the test to become a contestant! 😁
I'm surprised that no one up there is a history buffs. Smh
Great run, Alison.
I know Alaska was 49 and I think Arizona was 40 something so I was thinking Arkansas as well.
I hate it when there’s difficult questions that fit my niche knowledge base and I know immediately. Save them for when I’m on the show
"when"
@@TheEvilCheesecake correct!
Do the rules allow you to write just the postal abbreviation?

I learned the states alphabetically in school so for me it was easy.
Dang, can’t believe I got that one!
Excellent " Answer "
I can't believe it! I got final jeopardy when all the smart contestants didn't! Sometimes it pays to know geography!
I know my United States, but this one stumped me. I didn't remember which states came to be after which states during the first years of the nation. 😒
This is the first time I got a final jeopardy right, when EVERYONE got the same wrong answer lmao.
First I thought of was Arizona, and I knew THAT was wrong. But then I blanked on what else it could be. I was just certain that no state beginning with A predated Alabama.
Didn't think this one was that hard. 22nd was pretty early on. Figured Arkansas and Arizona were out. Figured those New England states were in. Connecticut seemed right.
i said delaware and felt good, completely forgot about Conn
I was thinking of the song of states in alphabetical order that I remember from grade school. I knew it was either Arkansas or Connecticut, but I wasn't sure if Arkansas was before Alabama. I guessed Connecticut and was right. A good puzzle; surprised no one got it right.
"Fifty Nifty United States"! 😃
Arkansas isn’t before Alabama alphabetically..
@@christopherkeating4830 I meant chronologically, not alphabetically. And yes, it turns out that Arkansas is not before Alabama chronologically either.
So easy yet all I could do was think of A states. 😅
Marko seems like a nice guy.
Wtf? Why they all going farther west than Alabama. I picked Delaware. Oops
Marlo is a new jeopardy champion.
I was thinking of Alaska
Anybody over 55 years old got this because we actually learned this stuff in school. And we can still tell time on a real clock. And count change backwards at the store before the computer can.
I can't believe that i got this one. Arkansas seemed too easy and didn't sound quite right, geographically. Connecticut made sense.
I GUESSED ARKANSAS TOO, LOL!
I was guessing Arizona 🤣🤣 I would be a horrible contestant on Jeopardy
I SWEAR TO GOD I GUESSED CONNECTICUT
Me too!
I did as well. Getting a FJ! clue right when all three contestants miss it is a great feeling.
I guessed right and I never get the final question right 😆
I also went for "What is Arkansas" 😔
That one seemed easy and I'm Canadian. Guess we really are back to the regular contestants.
I thought Arkansas too but then I remembered - historical facts... //THIS STATE// FTW!
Darn. I guessed Delaware.
Same. Then I realized Connecticut just as time was running out. If was up there I probably would have tried to scribble "CT" at the last second.
L O L that was a sneaky Club question because all of us thought Arkansas I think right or any other first I said I was thinking all the A1 because ha ha ha that’s where your brain wants to go tehee
I got it wrong, but as I picked the same state as the contestants, I'm in good company. 😅😅😅
TFW you get the answer right and all the contestants get it wrong.😌 Ravenclaw, baby!

I got this Final Jeopardy! clue right.
I knew it. Come on folks!
You should take the test to become a contestant
4 As, no Bs and 3 Cs...... can't be one of the first 2 Cs, or other As, so must be the last C.
I thought it was Alaska
Alaska is 2nd alphabetically, but it became a state long after Alabama did.
Alaska is the 49th state. Admitted to the Union in 1959, if I am not mistaken.
We will see alison in the tournament of champions in 2025
Would Jeopardy have accepted "CT" to cut the writing time?
My guess would be yes, considering that if they're looking for a person's name, they'll accept only the last name if it's uncommon enough. For instance, they'd accept "Who is Twain" (or "Who is Clemens,") if they were looking for Mark Twain, but they might not accept "Who is Jones?" if they were looking for John Paul Jones, as there have been a lot of famous people with the last name Jones.
You first look at the “A” states. There are none that are alphabetically before Alabama. There are no “B” states. So the only “C” states are California, Colorado and Connecticut. It’s obvious that Connecticut was a state before California and Colorado. Answer: Connecticut.
This is not the type of Jeopardy question that takes 30 seconds to figure out. The 22nd state? More like 22 minutes to figure out. 😭
I got lucky on that one. I looked at the clue and my first thought was thinking about the time period that Alabama became a state. I was thinking about the mid to late 1820s.
I didn't think it was Arkansas. I thought it became a state after Alabama. With about eight to ten seconds left, I threw out a guess of "What is Connecticut?" I couldn't think of another state that started with "A". I knew there was no state that started with "B". That is how I got the correct response tonight.
Rare occasion where all three contestants were wrong and I got it right. I think I can count those occasions on no more than one hand.
@hsupower basically the same way I did it. I immediately knew Arizona and Alaska were out. Geographically speaking, Arkansas seemed to easy, but it didn't make any sense geographically. I was shocked that I got this one right.
They should have wagered all their money on that one incorrect response! That's just what I wanna see!!!!!
Bummer for Allison.
Spoiler
I did not understand her wager in this one…I thought she’d go with $1,000 or something similar from her 4th (edited) game 🤨
She was betting to cover Rob, because he was so close. The most perplexing wager I think came from Rob, who should've gone for a smaller wager.
If she wasn't confident in the category, she should've assumed he'd wager 9100 or 9101 to match her should she double. If he's wrong he's down to 3800. Should've wagered 7199 or something. And then hope the two guys bet big and got it wrong.
@@seancosgrove1 perhaps she was confident with the category. It's also possible she would rather lose by getting FJ wrong than lose by getting FJ right and being overtaken by 3rd.
In a game where all three players are close, I feel the player in second should bet small (less than the difference between him/her and the player in third), and hope for a triple stumper.
@@zanti4132 the risk of that is that if 2nd gets it right and 1st gets it wrong, 3rd can still overtake them. This is the Stratton dilemma: when 2nd place betting to cover 3rd could put them behind 1st in a triple stumper. There's no best strategy for 2nd in this situation, you're taking a risk either way.

I got this one today! Woohoo! The way our states were essentially created coincides with two travesties in our country's history: The displacement of Native Americans and slavery. We moved Native Americans to territories created from the Louisiana Purchase while we settled their previous lands and then would break our treaties and keep forcing them to move as settlers kept moving into new territories the US would designate as such. Then the Missouri compromise of 1820 basically said for every free state that would get admitted there would be a slave state admitted so as not to disrupt the balance of free vs slave states.
Since I knew Arkansas was not added until after the Missouri compromise, Connecticut was the only right answer.
I'm glad that Alison is gone.
Why?
@@BlueManIan She was kind of irritating, like when she kept shaking her head at the beginning and end of each show/win.. Five wins was enough.
