    Great post, I particularly liked the way you zoomed out whilst demonstrating the sliding note. I found that not being able to see what technique you applied really enabled my ability to mimic and apply it.
    It was actually a very helpful lesson and I am genuinely grateful for the post, ta.

    A roll can also be described as a cut followed by a tap. so generally you would quickly lift up and put down the finger above the note in question and then do the same for a finger immediately below the note in question.

    I've had my whistle for a few years and I stumbled across this video. I'll definately be experimenting with these techniques later!
    Another fun thing is covering the hole at the top (I apologise, I can't remember the name) and blowing into it so it makes the sound of a heavy wind, you can even partially uncover it to create the effect of wind blowing through the trees.

    Coming from classical flute to this is an interesting journey because yeah, we trill and have harmonics and can do all sorts of funky stuff, I'd never dream about hitting my flute. They're so fragile with all the springs and screws. There's something so interesting about how many different ways there are to change the effect of the whistle

    are tin flutes effectively chromatic?

    • @runrig97
      @runrig97 Před 4 lety

      No, diatonic. They come in keys that will play one major scale. E.g. a D whistle plays the D major scale, though you can also play in G since it is possible to play a C on a D whistle (or avoid C altogether and e.g. play a pentatonic tune). It is possible though uncommon to half-hole to get other chromatic notes not in the scale, but it's usually more trouble than it's worth
