They used to get trashed back in the day by old heads who just laughed and didn't like the grind aspect. Now, who's laughing? They are the high bar in death metal, and they have absolutely put in the work to get where they are.
Absolutely my AOTY thus far. Can’t imagine what would take its place. Yeah the song refers to the Terrasites being harmed by sunlight-this is the metamorphosis of humans into a parasite-like creature after humanity ended in the fire at the end of Death Atlas. This is the next evolution of man after we destroy ourselves, parasites that stalk the night eating what’s left of the earth. 11/10 album, every track slays. Great reaction as always brother
Thantifaxath and Ahab are the only challengers for AOTY so far. Terrasite is an absolute stunner. This is their best album since the Harvest Floor in my opinion. This might be their best ever.
I think the idea of Photic doom is that we ruin our atmosphpere so much that it becomes deadly to go out in the sun, and he ends up only existing in the dark at the end.
It matches the cover too because our skin protects us from sunlight, so the idea of another creature rising from out of our corpses and being not used to the hellscape we created tracks.
Discover this band last year when searching for brutal but melodic death metal, didn't think anything like that exist at first. Also i love how this band keep bringing new kind of sounds and atmosphere evertimes they released a new album.
