The amount of excitement I had at seeing the whole digestive system lain out on the table was ridiculous. Lol
Omg I thought it was just me!!! Haha
Same
Absolutely so exciting!!
Wtf
Same here. I was thinking that I am gonna throw up at one point but I was surprised that I was rather intrigued the whole video to see the complete digestive tube.
Step 1: food tube
Step 2: spicy food bath
Step 3: poop tube (pt 1)
Step 4: poop tube (fin)
Step 5: poop hole
So I like the first part and last part? Like a sandwich.
SteveVi0lence off course I love it 🥰
Yeetur McBeetur thank you✨
Hahaha pooooooooop
Im using this at med school💀
Moment of silence for the individual that donated their body for the sake of education.
I appreciate this 🙂
At a University I worked at the lecturers regularly hold a beautiful service dedicated to the donors for their loved ones and also students to attend. It is a special service of gratitude and rememberance for those who donated their bodies to science. The donor bodies are a priceless gift for those students studying any form of medical science. 🙏🏻🕊🦋
Robyn Conway We’ve come a long way, back in the day they would have the rich watch on for their own amusement dissections on grave robbed bodies rather than medical progression, sometimes they would even have a little orchestra to play music. I can’t remember what country did this whether, it was the Victorians or the Romans, I should remember, there’s a big enough difference.
Yeah it must suck for them to not be able to eat anymore.
You all are AWESOME!!!!! I love human anatomy but it isn’t easy to find actual human bodies appropriately dissected. So informative and respectful.
Thanks! We truly appreciate hearing that!
"but it isn’t easy to find actual human bodies appropriately dissected."

You have two options, one can lead you to a prison sentence, and the other will make you look creepy and will probably lead to a prison sentence.

Jonathan and Justin rlly know how to make people interested in human anatomy. I’d like to take their class one day, even though it has nothing to do with my field.

Could you make a video about people who gone through surgery? Like what do scars on organs look (are they even left there? Or do they heal without showing a seam). Or what about amputees, or people who had broken bones surgery?
Yes, they should. I just had my appendix out and would love to know if I have a scar on my large intestine from where they removed it (it wasn’t laparoscopic, it was an open appendectomy), so I got a slightly larger incision than was planned!
I have had my small intestine out and a tethered cord I would like to know how they took it out and the scars and my back has a big scar and the stitches just disintegrated
Angela Gorohovsky My small intestines were twisted at birth and I had to go surgery to untwist them because nothing could pass through it that’s why I always vomited my food up
I like this idea
Could you do a video on pregnancy and breastfeeding like how the body actually grows where the organs go when the baby is growing and how the head actually fits through the pelvis do the bones get wider or are they always like that.
And the uterus is hold by bands in holland we call it bandenpijn i dont know if it is the same as round ligament pain. I would like the know how that looks and why that happens
As of breastfeeding i would like to know how a breast looks from the inside and how does your body make the milk like where does it come from how does it hold the milk i know in the milk glands but how do those look
We are definitely getting prepared to do those videos. Stay tuned!
Nora Vaders This would be amazing! I’m prego with my 3rd and have SPD (Serious crotch bone pain) and a while I know it’s because of hormones I’d love to see how those bones work down there!
Lydia M I have one child... No epidural. I am now retired from pregnancy 😂
Nipples are actually adapted sweat glands, and in 'primitive' mammals like echidna and Platypus they lack true nipples and instead 'sweat' milk.

You make the digestive system seem so simple and easy to understand. I feel like I learned the GI system all over again perfectly in 12 minutes after having taken physiology and studying this for weeks 😂
In my medical class at school, I learned the phrase “Drake & Josh are idiots” To memorize the parts of the small intestine. It was really helpful.
Duodenum Jejunum and Ileum. Good one to remember.
Accurate as well.
Just remember DJI as in the drone manufacturer

We learned it as DJ ill - the man spins the hottest tunes in town.
"putting pastry/food in your mouth" -- That's oddly specific.
Lmaoo
I knew I couldn’t be the only one who thought that
🤣 hahaha! Right?! Not just Food, but pastry/food. Maybe this cadaver had a certain diet they know of that involved a lot of pastries! Hahaha!
I take it as validation that we *need* pastries for our GI systemic to work. ;-)
its weird and cool to think that we eat food as a solid for then our bodies to make it a liquid to then make it a solid again. its really interesting :D
True
Not if you're fruitarian
We gotta get our nutrients somehow
Ironically enough, I am currently learning about the digestive system in A&P II. School has changed drastically due to the virus so I have been struggling to grasp this area of the body. This video could not have come at a more perfect time and I am so happy that you came across my home screen. I love that there are things out there for us to learn from.

As someone who recently had surgery to fix a perforated small intestine, this is so informative. I used to eat whatever without thinking twice about it and now I’m having to be more aware of how my body functions. Thank you!
I would love to see a video on all 11 body systems. I'm not entirely sure how the lymphatic or endocrine systems would make for good videos but I would definitely watch them!
Can you do a video on the effects of EDs (eating disorders) on the organs?
I have my mid term in anatomy in a couple of weeks and one of the things I need to know is the digestive system. This video was great for a revision!!
didn't expect him to just show a poptart in an anatomy vid lmao
Summary - 1.mouth
2. Buccal cavity(mastication of food, and 30% digestion of starch)
3. pharynx(common passage for food and water)
4. oesophagus
5. Stomach( J shaped bag, digestion of protiens, fats, absorbtion of alcohol/water, enzymes- pepsin, rennin, lipase)

I’m a big fan of your channel. I’d love to know about diarrhea. Funny but seriously, at what point the fecal matter will turn liquid? How long it will take til we get sick after we eat something infectious?. Thanks.
It all depends on what makes you sick. Most food that makes us sick is because the contaminating bacteria makes a toxin that damages the intestines and makes it so fluid is put into the intestines instead of being taken out. The toxins can act fast in about 3 hours, or longer in about 12-24 hours. On rare occasions the bad bacteria can colonize/infect the intestines themselves and cause sickness anywhere from 3 days or longer before the diarrhea starts. Most food infections comes from contaminated food preparation space. The bad bacteria is often on meat, but the meat gets cooked so you don't get sick from the meat, but if you put the meat on the counter, and then it is not cleaned before you chop your salad on that spot, the bacteria get on the salad and grow.
The bacteria has to multiply enough for it to affect you too. And it does so fairly quickly. Which is why people often go from being fine to puking their guts out so quickly in a couple hours
@Andrea My mom has a J-pouch too. She had/has UC as well. She’s had it for 20 years. She’s hoping to get an ostomy or a BCIR soon.
@@ogge9304 you should look up the Low Fodmap diet developed by the Monash University, it's to help with symptoms for those with IBS/IBD
I'm a year late but again it depends on what's making u sick. The extra water actually comes from your system through osmosis. If it's due to indigestion or waste materials from your system these cause an imbalance between the solvents in the small intestine and those in the cells that make the tube. So the cells try to balance by giving their water to the stuff in the intestine. That's how yo get dehydrated. That's where the extra water comes from.
I just learned some weeks ago (med school) so sorry if I made a mistake somewhere.
PART 2 PLEASE !!! Go even more in depth on the digestive system ! This was amazing learned so much .

If I would have had the acronym "DJI", I would have done better on the digestive system. I could never remember the order for some reason
Yea, its much easier when you have a lot of other references and don't have to memorize flat out. I always remember that the duodenum is first because that is where gastric acids can cause deadly ulcers by eroding into the duodenal artery. I can remember the ilium being last because of the iliocecal valve between the small and large intestines.
You couldn't come up with a helpful abbreviation on your own tho?

I’d like to know why pancreatic cancer is so hard to diagnose. Like, you know, right before you’re dead. There’s got to be a blood test or scan or something. Thanks.
Pancreatic cancer is definitely rough. Part of the problem with the diagnostic process isn't the actual tools to diagnose the cancer, it's often how late patients will actually present to doctors office due to many of the symptoms being "non-specific" like nausea and abdominal pain.
The pancreas is also a very irregularly shaped organ and so the tumors look the same as the rest of the pancreas on imaging, until they are often quite large.
Uhlbelk I’ll buy that. Thanks.
Great work explaining and showing. This video helped me understand the system better.
Great lesson! Thank you, Jonathan.
I had to have my gallbladder removed and gosh is changes everything so much. I miss it a lot.

Depending on how devoted you are to a fatty diet, your liver should be able to compensate to some extent. Most people I know who have had it removed have almost no noticeable effects.
Its a Liver issue , NOT a Gallbladder issue.. Dr's are 20 years behind :/ .
