Looks like she could use a little love but still starts up well and is out there putting in the work. I've got this unit in N Scale.
He forgot to check if the toilet was cleaned and resupplied…lol
Stop! You probably can't start that thing up.... They make good money doing that job. That is a dream for me.
@@Jacob-Tabor He was probably making a joke about how the lavatories in locomotives are hardly ever cleaned.
1:10 is when the fun begins....I'm a truck driver of over 20 years & STILL ENJOY listening to these beasts start up! Awesome video!
Beautiful paint scheme on that locomotive
Love how it still has a control stand rather than a dashboard set up like the GEs
GEVO’s still have control stand. Your older Dash 9’s and 8’s have the desk mounted controls.
@@jam00723 yeah not a fan of the European styled "desk" controls. Miss the old EMD cab set up where you could lean back and rest one of your feet on the heater. They also seemed more female friendly if your on the shorter side.
@jam00723 depends which company, at CN our Gevos use control stand while I believe the CPKC ones use desktop controls.
Fantastic launch of the UP Katy, thanks for showing.
Great video! Nice to see what is inside!
This is amazing man!!
Echoing others, you can tell UP puts this unit to work. The wear and tear on the unit tells a story of its own. Wonder how many miles are on the unit?
Very typical wear and tear for a class 1 locomotive. They are run hard and put away wet
@@Vzw-dj9rf all class 1 locomotives get ran hard. Even the “heritage” units don’t get any special treatment. She’s an ACe so they will work her hard because she’s built for it.
This engine was at my yard in Mira Loma, California in 2022. Crazy how far the katy goes.
Dang, sheer power. My bucket list includes engineering one of these.
Damn you must have a cool job dude
Awesome Great stuff 🚂✨🦅🔝
Thats really cool
Great video it looks like the Katy could use a touchup on the lettering
Great job. Greetings from Germany, Andreas
Waoooo Super Starting EMD Loco 😊
Nice video 👍❤
Nice
Nothing sounds like pure EMD 710 Engine!!! I got to get this locomotive in HO Scale!!!!!
Wow, MTH got the start up sounds right
Sweet.
I was debating going to see that because it was parked in Sterling Illinois with a SD70 workers up front so it would have been cool to see but my schedule did not allow 😢
We caught the Katy in Prescott, Arkansas back in February.
I didnt realize the 70Ace’s had traditional EMD controls.
She caught the Katy and left me a mule to riiiiiide.
How cool is this big diesel engine!..and everything is computer controlled now?
No radio. Classic.
NICE BUT NEEDS TO BE DEEP CLEANING UP IN THE INSIDE OF THE CAB.
Horrible working conditions, noticed that black dust encrusted vent as you come up the steps into the cab. What are they breathing?
@@Railfan56the sd70’s are horrible when it comes to oil use and exhaust. It’s not long before a new rebuild is covered in oil and exhaust soot those exhaust stacks and turbo are good but suck as well and when you work on them that stuff is not coming out of your clothes lol. The stack gaskets burn up to easily
I would of like to seen the full boot on that.
Did she burn at some point? Looks like some scorching on the paint.
Drive it, ring the bell, blast that horn!
Listen to the launch of the mainline diesel locomotive 2te10m of Russian railways
When you have a consist do you need to startup each engine individually or does the computer do this automatically.
Good Question!! seen a Trio of GE's start up in sequence once, after the first one was started, but haven't seen anything similar since.
If the all units are equipped with auto start/stop they will all turn on, when the reverser is thrown either forwards or backwards. Same with the DP's
Gotta turn back!? No TP in the throne room!!😂😂
710 power!!!
Great video. Like me .
Radio torn out, cab signals non-functional... at least it has PTC.
Clear for service!
I got her twice in 4 months. On Christmas Eve and Easter Sunday.

After seeing her long ago in Wichita in 2009 for a second while over a bridge in a yard.
Didn't check the oil 🛢️
Come see lucastrainverse!
Specification computer in AMD pls?
So uh you don’t work for the railroad so you just started it with out permission or what
Uttar Pradesh 1988
Hey this looks like Sterling Illinois
I think it was doing a coal load/dump there then heading out early in the morning
Ok I gotta ask (you don't have to answer lol)... You work on that or... just strolling by and had a wild thought? Lol
After a bit of sleuthing, it's of my judgement that the dude is a foamer who tampered with RR property.
His socials state that he works for a grain company, but his photos are of him driving tractors in farm fields, trainspotting as a railfan, and model RR'ing.
@@jaesynthetikexhumana9860 I work for the company who loads the trains Rock River lumber, and Grain. I started here 7months ago as a new job. Used to farm throughout my high school years so please don’t assume
@@AJHinrichsYou should take this video down before your employer and the railroad see it. Views aren’t worth your job and legal troubles.
please tell me you had permission
Wonder if the FRA is watching your video? I thought any kind of personal electronic devices, including video recordings were a violation of FRA rules for Railroad employees while on duty?
@brianbenson1973 he's not a railroad worker, he works for the company that loads the grain trains
@@opiumextract2934 Actually, I was thinking your a bird brain and you probably used to ride the short bus in school? 🤔 If you have ever worked for a Railroad, you would know that is a legitimate question, but you haven't, so you wouldn't know this, foamer..
What a boring job that would be. no wonder people jump out of Railroading jobs. Especially conductors who have to do all the dirty work. Horrendously dirty/filthy work environment. Work your a$$ off for 8, 9, 10 hours then sleep in a flea bit bed and get up to do it all over again - going back home. Blech. The pay isn't THAT good.
I can smell this video 🤢
@@vuurvrrailfanner4656 sd70s....ACes in particular are notorious for smelling like straight up piss
The toilets always smell terrible, those thundercabs especially. Everything just vibrates and stirs up the nasty stuff
Idk if this video is old or what but this guy has no idea what he's doing, turning on cab signal breaker now? Probably some random civilian getting on stuff fucking with property again
This guy is not an employee, things like this should be reported
@@c44ac99 lol great english, this video is some random guy climbing up on it flipping switcher randomly, there are some we don't use at all on there and an employee would know that
Even if he was an employee, this is not something he should be posting on CZcams... Not good for security and definitely not good for his job security!
@@kiefershanks4172 oh yeah definitely something we aren't allowed to post,I'm an conductor and it's a bad situation for posting stuff like that
From a retired BLE&T Local Chairman off the UP in Seattle, I would be very careful about posting content like this revealing your identity. Our Uncle Pete takes a dim view of recording anything on the property. I got disciplined for using a stand-alone camera to take a photograph of a switch flag test. I won in arbitration, but it doesn't matter that their own rules allow it. Cell phone cameras are a big no-no.
Nice
