Holy shit this is scary. When a dusty is coming that close there is only 1 option: throw yourself on the wing immediately, the fully release the wing from your harness. You were VERY lucky. People have died from being catched on the ground by a dusty and unfortunately, this still happens two times a year at least here in germany. Stay safe!
@@DUKEisALIVE I have the same question and I've never seen it but I think it could happen with the right conditions and it happens in Germany apparently
Please don't just old the line set in your hand(s), because you couldn't hold the wing if it is taken away by the dust... Run to your canopy immediately and sit down or lay on it! You're crazy people, just having a look and doing nothing...!
guys with steel balls...
need to release one carabiner immediately
Sun+Zero wind= only one riser on
Good opportunity for launch eh? Your friend is there to help too, lifting the nose up.
You guys were lucky. That was quite a show!
I've seen lots of dusty's there... but THAT ONE is just plain awesome. :-) Looks like an awesome day to fly!
Steve hit 6200' MSL. He was in the air when the dusty hit. I talked to him on the radio. From his POV, he thought it was a dirt road.
Scary. That was extremely dangerous
Run you fool
That place rocks to fly!
Wow, surprised you didn't bundle up that wing sooner!
Marco grabbed my wing so I wasn't very worried about it getting away. I think the campers probably thought we ransacked there stuff when they got back.
Do you really think your Friend could hold on your Glider for more than a second with one hand!? He´d be more than bussy with his own glider...
For sure your Friend could hold your Glider… look at this: czcams.com/video/BXBogVV31Y4/video.html
you have steel balls, guys )) so calm reaction ))
I'd have been sitting on my glider 3 seconds after seeing that thing.
I would not unhook, because the last thing I want is to be 7 meters in the air with 50% cravat and hanging on one leg strap.
You don't need to unhook your harness, but you should disconnect your wing from the harness.
@@jorgenke4145 hell yeah let the glider go. Hang out somewhere else. Isn’t that cirrus clouds though?
Balls of steel ...
My God what lift you get. I live where it may not be hilly enough to fly a glider I may not be able to launch off nice places like everybody else. I paid $5,400 for a glider and the lessons to fly. I am working on a dust devil launch.
WOW!!
woooooooooooooooooooooooooooow
holy crap
"Grab my wing Steve" Forget Steve! I would've RUN to my wing and bundled up the moment that dusty was seen. That pilot was very lucky.
