  • SEGA is a Japanese company that develops software and hardware in the field of entertainment (video games). It is one of the most important and respected video game brands in the world. It has had a long history of success in both the arcade and console markets.
In this compilation we focus on their classic arcade games, their biggest hits as well as their lesser known releases. In addition, this list includes games for the Mega Tech and Mega Play System, which makes it a video with a high educational value and also for the preservation of the video game.
*Note* It does not include some boards like SEGA MODEL 2 or MODEL 3, nor the vector arcade ones, since I have them in other compilations on my channel.

What's amazing is when you consider Sega's TOTAL arcade history stretching back from the elecro-mechanical days to the present, this video could have easily lasted for 3 or more hours. Probably the most prolific arcade developer in history.

Hard to believe Space Harrier is a 1985 game, just incredible performance when you compare it to the weak stuffs of this year

Capcom and Konami were rocking in the arcade era, but SEGA was always the king.

SEGA was doing sprite scaling in 1982...it took 11 years for home systems to catch up.

These were the days when the arcades had better graphics than the home consoles .

Looks like "Ali Baba & The 40 Thieves" borrowed sound effects from "Spiders" & just tweeked them a bit. Played a lot of "N-Sub" "Carnival" "Tranquillizer Gun" "Pulsar" "Twin Squash". But 5 of my favorite SEGA games aren't included here..."Space Fury" "Eliminator" "Zektor" "Tac/Scan" "Star Trek". Digital Eclipse should work with SEGA to put out a collection of there coin-op arcade games for modern consoles. It would be a nice companion piece to the "SEGA Genesis Classics" collection that came out a few years ago.

I'm the manager of the factory where Segas arcade amusement machines used to get built. Can you believe we used to have jobs where you were paid to test these games? Literally they'd link up several sega rally and play them until the next 4 machines were built. They'd attach a UK or USA plug on them, and most were exported to the usa. My favourite story from before my time was the first 17 transformers games off the line didn't work because someone used screws that were too long and punctured the tubes in the screens, meaning they were all written off!
