  • It is springtime and we are starting to garden outside. Our cabbages did not turn out well. We planted some potatoes in a grow back hoping for success. Hope you join us in this journey as we start to grow our own food

The pink flower is a snap dragon. They can grow very tall and will need to be staked. Overall your garden is lovely!!❤

Same thing is happening to my cabbage but I prefer the greener leaves for fried cabbage so its still a win.

Peppermint grows rhizomes underground and will take over a raised bed. Just a heads up. Beautiful garden!!!

Thank You! Later on I realize they were not peppermint they are lemon balm. Do they do the same thing?

I think your garden is doing well keep a journal of success and failures HOWEVER you didn't Really FAIL on the Cabbages those outer leaves are just as edible as the formed cabbage and actually more nutritious. I like Fried cabbage but you can boil them too. They look pretty healthy with no bugs that alone is a success...❤

Cabbage takes a good 5 months to head up depending on the variety. You can eat green cabbage leaves. Try not to over crowd them.

Ok next time I’ll space them out better. After making the video I called my dad and he told me to cook them and I was able to. Slowly but surely I’m learning. I’m glad I made the video I’ve been getting some good info from you and others. Thank You!!

Those cabbage leaves look amazing. I would definitely eat them. Please do not compost them. I had that happen to me before. Those leaves are most definitely edible!. Next time u plant them, space them out at least 6” apart. They love fertilizer but don’t over do it. Their leaves look great.

I would leave the cabbages, add some nitrogen fertilizer maybe and just give them more time. Often times for me, the veggies take longer to grow than the seed pack says

They started flowering also so I was thinking to just get rid of them. I ended up cooking them and they tasted good. I almost got rid of them

You have them too close together. And you can still eat the leaves. It's a waste to just compost what can be made into cabbage rolls or slaw,or fried.
