  • The Blue Eye is the most visited natural attraction in Thethi National Park. It is located in the northern part of Albania near the border to Montenegro.
The hike to the Blue Eye generally starts in Theth, a little village in the valley of the same-named National Park. From there it takes approximately 3,5 hours. Another option is to take a taxi to Nderlysa and enjoy the 40 minutes hike from there to the Blue Eye.
Starting from Thethi to Nderlysa the first 5 km is rural off-road along the river of Theth, Shala River. If you walk on the left side of the river, you will have the chance to see also one of the astounding waterfalls. It only takes about an extra hour to experience the refreshing water straight from the Albanian Alps.
Whereas the beginning is a rural off-road path, the last part takes about 40 minutes of walk, among which only the first half is more difficult to climb while the second part is easy walking in the middle of the beech forest until you get surprised by the Blue Eye.
For those of you who need to cool down from the hike, the water will serve you with its clear and cold temperature of 8 degrees. For all the others, apart from enjoying the view you can also enjoy local food and drinks around the Blue Eye.
Enjoy the wonders of nature 🤍 🌍
