Pierce and KG are such hypocrites. They speak bad about Ray Allen for leaving Boston and then they go and do the same thing. I lost a lot of respect for them. Doc Rivers too.

I was tearing up too. Thank you KG and Paul Pierce in particular for pouring out his heart and soul for the city for 15 long years. I'll never forget how Pierce returned to the court to play just two weeks after getting stabbed at a night club, and obviously the championship. Boston appreciates what they've given us.

Same 4 Allen, I think these & a few others, Duncan to name another are the last of players who stay in 1 place or have some sense of loyalty. Nothing against those that leave tho, (imo)

I'm a New York fan but I've gotta say that Knicks fans at the garden are horrible, if Melo leaves they will boo him, just like they did to Amare which was really sad. The poor guy was trying to get back to his dominant self after his knee surgery, and the fans were booing him when he missed shots and free throws. But you gotta hand it to him, he's improved outta sight since. I hope melo leaves and we get a descent sf who actually lifts the teammates around him not like melo who just plays 1 on 1.

but hey, he's still getting paid millions so I wouldn't do anything different if I was him, I'd just retire when the contract ends, and keep whatever dignity he has left

This is why we are the best fans. The NBA is such a league for theatre-goers, fans who go to games to see fancy dunks and finesse players, or fans who go to games because maybe Lebron or Durant are coming to your city. There is none of that in Boston, Celtics fans don't care about any of the flashy fanfare, as long as you bust your ass for the name on the front of the jersey, and thats exactly what these 2 guys did! They busted their ass for the only REAL fans in the NBA.

Couldn't help but to water up..15 tough seasons for pierce all in one place, definitely some hard times here and there but it was all worth it in the end. Pierce still has a place in Boston and deserves without a doubt to have his jersey retired. Always will be my favorite player. #34☺

I'm not a Boston fan. But I I'm extremely impressed by how these fans have shown great respect to Doc Rivers, KG, and Paul Pierce when they have returned to Boston. That gives me great respect for Boston's fans. And it's just awesome!
This was great. I've been watching the NBA for nearly 18 years and the '08 - '13 Celtics were an awesome team. Proud to say I seen all those boys play in person before they split up.
My Favorite team since 2008, Allen,KG,Truth,Rondo,one of the best team in NBA that time, winning championship once, making their way to finals but their luck is not that good and Lakers grab it .. even the heat have a hard time defeating them. DAMN i miss the old Boston Celtics T.T .

Most probably didn't see but you should look up the thank you videos they showed in the Garden during the timeouts. It's what started the chant and left most, including PP and KG with a tear in their eye. Pierces is especially heartwarming.

blackanimelover18 Lebron turned his back on Cleveland stating that he wanted to be on a Championship team, and because Miami offered him more money. And, you think they owe him respect? This is why he'll never stack up to greats like Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, or Larry Bird because unlike Lebron, the latter three stayed with one team throughout their entire career, even during the years when they sucked. LJ obviously doesn't understand what it means to play in a team oriented environment without joining a starting lineup that already has two or more additional all stars.
Ask any avid NBA fan of the past 20 years, and they will tell you that even with Scottie Pippen on the Bulls in the 1990's, MJ was still the heart of Chicago basketball. Lebron James either does not want it, or has proven that he is completely incapable of turning an average or mediocre team into a Championship team. The year he took the Cavs to the Finals doesn't count because they got served in 4 consecutive games by the Spurs. I guarantee you that the Cavs would have had a better shot at winning the title if they had a coach with the leadership of Phil Jackson.
Rawk4Life You make it seem like wanting a ring is wrong. He was never going to win in Cleveland, no one will. He carried them on his back as far as possible, and they got swept by the Spurs. It DOES count because it's as far as Cleveland will go for the next few decades.
Lebron got tired of sucking in a cursed city that doesn't win anything. So what did he do? He went somewhere he could win so he wouldn't have to retire as the ringless king. At the end of the day though, without him Cleveland would have been the most irrelevant team in basketball, much like the Browns are in football.

i'm both a celtics and lakers fan (might sound weird because of the rivalry). it's sad to see how both teams are struggling right now. but it's during these struggles that you can see which team has the better fan base. lakers fan complain when they lose i.e. "fire d'antoni!" "we need phil!" "kobe needs to play!" which are all unrealistic complaints... celtics fan on the other side understand we're rebuilding and no team is gonna stay forever at the top
