We found a 2019 Model 3 at a Kia dealership that was listed and priced as a LR. When looking at in person though, we found it to be a stealth/sleeper performance with the FSD package. The dealership was clueless to it all. We ended up with a really good deal. A lot of non-Tesla dealers are unsure how to properly list Teslas and can often make mistakes that you can catch and possibly get a great deal on. Just always check that info screen!

Honestly, this guy did not give good and intelligent reasons for getting a new or used Tesla based on "needs". 🧐 Instead of catering to the materialistic lifestyle based on "desire", one can patiently wait a couple months saving thousands. Or, drive another vehicle.
Moreover, unless you have money to spare, with the current price increases, there are no major incentives to get a Tesla. Gas savings and no low maintenance are misleading. 👎 Once you start making payments or deal with insurance claims you find out the hard way! 😉

I tell her I will be able to do that once we have the "for real" price after all accessories. Still don't have that, Elon! I understand why. If the chip shortage ends in 2023, then CT might not have to have huge price hikes. It would be nice to hear more about Turo, what their insurance covers, how much of a cut goes to Turo, and if it would make sense to get business insurance on the vehicles instead of paying for Turo's insurance.

I have a 22 M3LR. I like that the turn signal opens the side camera view or next lane. It opens a small window almost behind my right hand. I have seen videos of the Model S that has the video window in the middle bottom of the screen which would be better. I would like to chose size and placement.
#2 every phone, tablet and computer has the option to change the font size. I would happily double the size of the current font. There's lots of screen space and it would allow much faster reading when moving, a safety issue.

I remain very happy with our 2018 Model 3 LR AWD.
    * Includes HomeLink which allows it to auto open/close the right garage door per our configuration as we arrive / leave.
    * Includes premium connectivity for life of car.
    * Paid much less than $12k for Full Self-Driving (it has the Tesla FSD computer that was installed a year or so after I took original delivery).
    * Includes the less efficient, but better looking 19" tires.
    * 100% charge provides ~265 miles range display which was ~310 on initial delivery (see notes below regarding driving range).
    * Practical driving range remains unchanged compared initial delivery giving ~200 miles in ~3 hours with ~10% battery left when starting from 95-100% battery left.
    * Includes passenger lumbar which does get used.
    * Lack of pedestrian safety noise-maker (which I don't like).
    * Lack of powered trunk which has never bothered me, same way manual frunk lift / close doesn't bother me.
    * Lack of better road-noise sound insulating windows and other nice-to-have improvements newer Model 3 have.
    Regarding Range:
To get ~200 actual miles in ~3 hours with ~10% battery left, we have to use the energy app and see how much we are using, and adjust speed and / or following distance to reduce consumption rate to get necessary projected range. We can travel as fast as 85 mph if following behind something else that is pushing a lot of the air out of our way to keep our energy consumption rate lower, or we can drive slower (~65-70 mph) when not behind anything.
People need to know the EPA rated range is determined while testing for one passenger in certain weight range with no cargo, on dynamometers (i.e. without wind resistance or incline / decline consideration) at speeds oscillating between 30-60 mph and perfect level of tire inflation. They shouldn't expect to get same range as their EV vehicles EPA rated range since real-world driving is not in such neutral testing conditions. We drive faster on highways, and we have to push air out of the way, and we also drive on inclines and declines or go through curving roads or rougher texture roads and so many other factors that can impact energy consumption rates.
For any of our longer driving trips where we go for a leg closer to 200 miles apart and need to be careful about range / charging, it is 4 passengers, with frunk / trunk both having cargo, comfortable air conditioning, streaming music playing, navigate on autopilot active, with map displaying earth view (premium connectivity required).

I find the mobile connector to be invaluable. I think my experience would have been tainted if it hadn't been included.
The FSD option was great although I had a small learning curve to overcome when I didn't have the option to enter the FSD beta program. It turned out that although I had the FSD package the computer wasn't ready for it... a simple chat with Tesla support about the issue and the computer was upgraded in my driveway within a week.
I'm still waiting to be included in the FSD beta program. I have the required safety score but I guess the roll out is still limited. I'm hoping FSD goes live this year, even if it's nationwide beta. Fingers crossed. :)

You must deal with multiple accidents, loss of use, higher insurance cost(assumption), arguing with renter about abuse, battery degradation due to frequent 100% charges, pick-up/drop-off issues, and much more. I just don’t get it.

Great review! As always, great content, great info. One thing I notice on forums and videos is the mention of "EPA range", which one would think is standardized no matter the vehicle. Well... The testing itself is standardized, but the reporting is not. EPA hands the data over to the manufacturer and recommends multiplying by 70% to get real world range. (The testing is done indoors on a roller machine), All manufacturers do this EXCEPT Audi and Tesla. Tesla multiplies by 81%.... The manufacturer may have sound reasons for this difference, but they do not need to provide any explanation or justification. This info comes from me corresponding with EPA about this topic....I could send you the message if you were interested.

Those machine springs in the trunk struts are a very bad idea. They put excessive force on the plastic strut ends and sometimes even bend the car frame "knobs" (where the top end of the strut connects). Those installations typically work for maybe a few days, after which they stop working because something has bent out of shape or the plastic strut head has deformed. Better take them out.

I have purchased my first Tesla used (2015 Tesla MS 70D AWD) in 2019 and a 2019 M3 LR AWD FSD in 2020. Homelink is both is GREAT. I can't believe they charge $300 for this "upgrade" today but.... oh well.
Both vehicles were purchased direct from Tesla and well below the market rate at the time ($5-7K). The warranty they had "back in the day" was much better than the one that comes with the used cars now. In my wife's MS 70D the warranty lasted for a couple of years and an additional 50K miles. No issues when we needed service. With used car prices as they are now. I would buy new but if push comes to shove I would buy used again if I was in dire straits for a car. Right now I am waiting on a new Cybertruck as my next vehicle. I hope I don't get into a accident that would force my hand to *need a car* in a short timeframe.
The battery life on both is still spectacular. The MS still rates at 240 miles at 100% and my M3 is rated at 288 miles at 100%. Both have 19" wheels.

I just recently purchased a used M3 LR RWD that has worked perfectly for me because I don't really need AWD but wanted the longer range. Also got Enhanced Autopilot that the previous owner paid for and is no longer offered - best parts of autopilot and FSD without the huge price bump. Some other things I didn't account for is the premium interior that I think came with the LR model and lifetime connectivity which is saving me $10 per month. Plus I should add that if I choose to bump up to FSD it is "only" $6k instead of $12k because I have Enhanced Autopilot

Removing the mobile connector and homelink were both, in my opinion, chintzy of Tesla. Okay, yes, I get that maybe both of those had low actual usage, like the passenger lumbar support, but were still very nice to have. By the way, we still have our 2018 long range Model 3 that we bought brand new in August 2018 as well as our 2021 long range Model Y which we bought in June 2021. The Model 3 has held up extremely well and is still a great and fun car to drive. Though it never did achieve a real-world range of 310 miles which is what the EPA range was supposed to be when we bought it, it can still go about 270 or 275 miles (real-world) on a full charge.
