- Today we're going to visit the famous Campus Martius and we'll see how it looked like during the emperor Augustus, when the famous buildings were erected there - the mausoleum of Augustus, the Ara Pacis (altar of Peace), the Augustan obeliscus, used as sundial (now on Piazza Montecitorio), the initial version of Pantheon, built by Agrippa, and others. Enjoy!
And our main goal is to create the most extensive, detailed and accurate virtual 3D reconstruction of Ancient Rome, and eventually release it to everyone using the game engine! Join and follow us!

This (3:00) view of the walk-way leading to the Mausoleum is absolutely breathtaking from the first step all the way to the main structure. What amazing things humans are capable of when they have a common purpose.
Interesting to see a period not usually covered by virtual reconstructions. I love the detail of mausoleum of Augustus having painted decorations when new, which have faded by the time of Constantine.
Yes! Thank you!
Extraordinary !
I would have loved to be a fly on the wall to see all of this that you're highlighting. Amazing!
I also see that the Romans adopted so much from the Etruscans---in architecture, planning, the placement of tombs, etc. Those were heady times in Rome! No wonder why Rome was considered the center of the universe back then.
I was born 2000 years to late!
yes, I understand..
I would like to relive for some months ancient Rome, like a tourist.
But today we have a more confortable Life and more rights.
So unbelievably beautiful this city of 2000 years ago! Thank you for bringing it to life!
Outstanding, as always. I especially like the rendition of Agrippa’s Pantheon. I during the early shots I was scratching my head about that structure on the skyline until I realized what it was. Well done.
Thanks!
Amazing, I didn't realise this monument and Mars field were so beautiful
UN LAVORO STRAORDINARIO, BRAVISSIMO.......AVGVRIS et IMPERIVM ROMANVM
Thanks!
Thank you so much!
Thank you!
Thank you, it’s nice to see rome in the time of Augustus
One of your best videos so far, and I've loved and saved all of them to my hard drive. This one was pure magic from beginning to end. Thank you again for allowing me to see my dreams in 3D.
Thank you!

Thank you, thank you, thank you. What a city was Roma, the best city of the history. Thank you, again.
Rome was the light of the ancient world.
Something even today unreachble.
Thank you!
@@faraonetolomeo And say it, friend.
great video as always ...❣
Thank you!
Thank you so much for once again bringing ancient Rome to life for us. It is as though I was there.
I have found these literally on my last night in Rome! I would have loved to have had these when walking round 😭😭
Amazing works ❤❤
Excellent!
Thanks!
You have made a historian and lover of the past very, very happy!! Respect and greetings from Holland to the whole team.
EXCELENTE RECONSTRUCCIÓN...!!! Casi puedo ver a los habitantes 😃... Gracias por compartir...!!! Feliz 2022...!!!
Thanks!
Ab fab, totally FANTASTIC!! have no idea how you made this, but you did it. it DOES feel like a drone flying over the area and taking a vid!! How??? All kudos to you, bud
👍👍👍very very good job. It's funny, this morning, waiting my train, i was reading a book about this part of Rome ("le champ de Mars" in french). Bravo !👏👏👏...
Wonderful! Thank you!
Awesome 😯😍👏🏻
Thank you!
Absolutely brilliant. Rodolfo Lanciani would have been mind blown if he had been able to see this!!
What a magnificent structure. I am glad there has begun a restoration now. I think it is so elegant! And it is now my favorite !
Another great rendering! Especially admire the attention to detail with agrippas more modest pantheon building. However just wondered what your thoughts are regarding the horologium of augustus because whenever you see artists depictions its often shown as a large rectangle courtyard marked out with bronze in a butterfly shape to represent the time changes over the seasons. You have chosen to depict it as a simple strip for the obelisks shadow to follow, so i was just wondering your thoughts on that. Not a complaint mind, what youre doing is awsome
I WISH they could rebuild this exact model around the original structure. Imagine how cool it would be walking by it in Rome? 😃
Very beautiful, amazing as the other renderings! Only two comments. The Domitian Stadium that you can glimpse was not yet built at that time, and recent studies of archeologists working on the mausoleum of Augustus, have unveiled a slightly different shape of it (visible in some web sites). Anyway, your videos are the best way to figure out how Imperial Rome was, definitively!
Your videos about ancient Rome are always the very best renderings I've seen on YT. Since there surely will be no time machines your videos are the best thing right after a certain DeLorean or a certain blue phone box.
These videos always let me dream about the past eras of Rome and they inspire me to fantasize what if the Romans kept these buildings fully intact to the present time.
So:
- Liked
- Commented
- Saved to my Imperium Romanum playlist.
PS: in some videos, you're telling us what music you're using. This time not, like with your video about the Forum Romanum during the Augustan era.
I tried to find it out via Siri or Shazam but those attempts failed.
Wow! I've been watching You Danila for a number of years now. And I have to say this is probably the best re-creation you have ever done! Bravo!!! Loved it!!
Thank you! My opinion that my best recreation so far is the Trajans column!))
@@historyin3d Yes!!! I saw that!! Funny, I was thinking of that video as I wrote this!! I loved that one too!! 😁🎇
Wonderful! Thank You! I particularly enjoyed the view of the walk-way up to the Mausoleum! Very impressive! And chance of an 'inside' view (guess)?
It's amazing. Great job!
Thanks!
Another great video! Thanks.
Thanks!
Thanks so much for this tour. It's very helpful in getting a sense of this portion of the great city in imperial times. Very well done!
Immersive and superb, another gem!!👍👍
Great work, but you should also do the southern part of the Campus Martius!
Impressive!
This channel is my favorite channel on CZcams I get some ideas for my next building in Minecraft😊
Great renderings, as always! Would be great if you include the locations on a todays map, as a reference
This looks amazing! What kind of software do you use?
Please make special project is lighthouse of Alexandria
Please please do a video about the Trajan Markets and the most important temples of ancien Rome.
Funky music man !
amazing video
Thank you!
So beautiful, thank you for your efforts. I wish the filthy barbarians had been more respectful and open-minded.
Extra !
Thanks!
Stunning. I wonder how did they make it.
Greatest city in history.
Roma caput mundi.
My biggest Dream is to relive in ancient Rome (in 248 AD, 1000 Urbe condita) to see all parties and luxury of my city, but only for One month, I love our lifestyle.
Is it possible to add people to make it even more realistic and to know approximately the size of the buildings? Btw your videos are making me more and more interested in ancoent Rome history!!
Thanks!
Amazing as always!
I have a question, what did "Princeps" meant to the romans? i guess something like prince but what did it meant.
Princeps means 'first man' or 'foremost leader' and using it meant Augustus could avoid using the word 'rex' (king), which the Romans detested (as Julius Caesar discoverd). The title 'imperator' originally meant 'successful general' and only later came to mean 'emperor'. 'Caesar' and 'Augustus' also become honorific titles associated with the emperor.
@@sotony7483 Thanks :D
Thanks!
Will there be a tool with wich you can explore the same places throughout time?
Will be of course, follow our news!
The place looks splendid ... almost computer-generated (🤠).
I'm a wondering what the demeanor of the grounds would feel like if garden-variety Romans were present.
Did Campus Martius become Castel Sant'angelo later? They look similar.
It is another mausoleum - of Hadrian.
@@historyin3d Thank you for clarifying!
Could you realease a video about the years of the destruction of the ancient monuments? VI - VIII Century, I mean
That's where Augustus is right now camping with Mar'T-US?
What about the baths of Agrippa?
Was für ein Imperium
how much population in Augustus time?
if about 1million..campus martius should be crowded woth insulae
Beautiful animation, thank you! However, that typeface with the heavy stroke/outline in white- it’s just too hard to read. I found myself trying to read it for the first couple minutes and after that I just gave up and moved on.
heard about he being called 1st emperor right?
Right.
These videos are outstanding, but in the name of god change the music!!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Agippa could be a great emperor but Augustus lived too much, he built too many things for the city, the first big public baths, the original Pantheon, Porticos, markets and parks, he also was a great general, Augustus had a great debt with that extrordinary man. as usual a great job to let us see how Rome grew thru the imperial times.
He was a great friend, ant it means a lot as well!
@@historyin3d Octavian and Agrippa: the greatest "buddy story" in history. I think the most profound demonstration of the respect Octavian had for Agrippa is that Octavian made Agrippa the overall commander at the Battle of Actium and Octavian took command of a subordinate unit under Agrippa.
this is this kind of video who make you wonders why you re still wearing a shirt , a tie not a fucking toga
