This guy is an awesome talent. But even more than his rock covers, his jazz is really impressive. I had never heard of him before finding his version of Herbie Hancock's 'Dolphin Dance' on CZcams ... I only wish the comment section for that video had not been turned off. Not having heard of him, I wonder whether to attribute that to my small world of music education, or to the deals behind the back doors of marketing in the music industry. Still, there is no doubt in my mind, Andrea Braido is a world class talent. I will be returning to his 'Dolphin Dance' again and again for inspiration and ideas. Much thanks, virtualradio, for posting this video.
+Steve Martin In case you don't know enough bout Braido, please refine your search here on you tube just by typing key words like " fronte del palco san siro 1990" or "gli spari sopra 1993", and that gives you just a glimpse
Andrea Braido is still nowadays one of the most quoted italian guitar players and worked with a lot of musicians. Today he's not playing in big arenas but have frequent sessions in clubs as special guest with cover bands, mostly covering Vasco rossi's tunes which is the rock singer who discovered him in the late 80's (as far as is due to know to me). He states that his playing in small venues is a technical choice, but in my opinion that's strictly correlated with his predominant personality which seems to not accept to tame the energy you can hear in his solos (and not only in my opinion)
Agree with you, Alan! He is not only a monster technician, he is overflowing with passion. Again, I am more in the jazz-camp (going to watch his Dolphin Dance again tonight), but I can see Braido transcends genre. I think he is a genius.
è un chitarrista strepitoso...
