This is why they glow when Bob is injured towards the end of episode 5, the cult necklace he (Bob) has activated due to him being hurt. The happy fella was possessed by Dexter towards the end of episode 3 (7:52 during episode 3, the doll has Dexter's eyes), when Moloch took his body over/possessed him. When the "Candy Dealer" says the thieves are running out of luck, I think he means they better get what the cult wants from Lila's attic or they'll be punished by him or the cult for failing so much.
