Synopsis: Finney Shaw, a shy but clever 13-year-old boy, is abducted by a sadistic killer and trapped in a soundproof basement where screaming is of little use. When a disconnected phone on the wall begins to ring, Finney discovers that he can hear the voices of the killer's previous victims. And they are dead set on making sure that what happened to them doesn't happen to Finney.

I knew I had heard this story before. It's from a Joe Hill short story and was published in 20th Century Ghosts.
Son taking after his father, with short stories being made into movies. :)
Fun fact about Joe Hill if you watch the movie Creepshow, the little boy that's in the wrap around segment of the film was a younger Joe Hill.

Seems and little jumbled, too many ideas in a single story.
How so? A kidnapped child and the ghosts of the kidnapper’s past victims using their experiences to try and help him escape. Sounds pretty straightforward to me.
@@Eaawesome59 but then there's also the sister seeing the ghost children, and the potential that the kidnapper may have some supernatural aspect to him, and the plot conveniences that there is enough to work with within a locked room for him to use to defend himself.
