    In 2003, the Hubble Space Telescope took the image of a millenium, an image that shows our place in the universe. Anyone who understands what this image represents, is forever changed by it.
    How Can the universe be 78 billion LY across? I explain that in this article:
    deepastronomy....
    There is also a link to a science paper on the topic, that paper actually states 96 billion LY.

    Deep Astronomy you should totally do a HD remake of this masterpiece. I can’t believe it’s been 14 years since I stumbled upon this! Something about the music and your ultra soothing voice and way of speaking makes this video a true universal treasure. A must watch every few months to put things in perspective. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

    This video moved me so much when I first saw it back in 2007. I'm glad I found it again. I know as humans we have done a lot of damage to our planet, but without any civilizations to set examples for us we have had to learn and grow from our own mistakes. We will continue to do this until we either kill ourselves or one day expand beyond our own star. We have an idea of the fate of Mars when its atmosphere melted away. Whether or not it once held life, it is all but gone now. No one will ever know the amazing animals and plants that once thrived there.
    In a few billion years our planet will die alongside the sun - everything will die. Human intelligence is truly nature's truly greatest gift to us. We were not meant to be a part of the "natural cycle" anymore. In a way, we are truly the consciousness of our planet, and perhaps the living conscious of the universe itself. Earth's very own chosen ones. Nature's gift to us is also our chance to escape, to advance and grow. And to not die with Earth one day- but to travel among the stars. The true Children of the Earth. If we end up like Mars no other civilization will ever know of what this little blue planet was capable of. We have the potential to do amazing things even if we are alone out here. I can only hope as a species we realize this sooner before later.

      Larry 306 God cares. Rainbows prove we live under a prism in an enclosed ecosystem. Raindrops serve merely as a wall rainbows are reflected onto. Only large dome shaped rainbows can be created by large dome shaped prisms. Just like any other prism on earth. They refract & reflect light into the opposite direction of the light source taking the same shape and never collaboratively working together. Each prism works independently from the other. There is no “outer space”. The firmament and the waters create the prism necessary to create rainbows that are refracted & reflected away. Raindrops waterfalls and backyard sprinklers are no different than a vertical lake or puddle allowing us to see light reflected upon. Rainbows prove Gods word true and the devotion of “outer space” for exactly what it is; a lie to deceive us of heaven, that we don’t matter, that there is no God when truly we are front & center of His attention.

    I believe it is important to note that the likely hood of civilizations still existing on these galaxies are unlikely, since we are looking sometimes billions of years into the past, they will have likely either left...or more likely died. Life in space must exist in many places at the same time, But the massive distance between them probably negates the ability to ever notice their existence. The time it would take to communicate using light to another civilization across our own galaxy still spans longer than human civilization has been around and would require more power than we can safely manipulate. Likely any intelligent species are in the same boat as we are. Looking up into the night sky and wondering if there is life out there. Of course if they can get here...that's even more troubling.

    • @lrwilliston
      @lrwilliston Před 10 lety

      The problem is that we have no way of knowing what the chance of life evolving on other planets is. We could be the only intelligent life in the universe or it could happen in every solar system with Earthlike planets, or even every system with planets with some sort of atmosphere. We don't know. When you are sitting on the only rock with life, the chance of life in the universe looks like 100% and we have zero information outside our solar system beyond that. To the best of our knowledge, the chances are 12.5% for planets so far. Any attempt to extrapolate beyond our system will be skewed by the fact we can see predominantly the giant planets, which are less likely to harbour life as we know it. So, logically it would be foolhardy to suggest life doesn't exist elsewhere. Statistically, it is all just a blind guess.

    • @zebrion5793

      lrwilliston You are partly correct, but I would direct you to something called "The Drake Equation" which I'm sure you can find plenty of videos here on CZcams to explain. I think even Carl Sagan himself did an episode of Cosmos on it. Even at a very low statistical probability, the pure number of galaxies and stars alone is enough to virtually guarantee that there is or has been intelligent life - likely even within our own galaxy.

Time does fly, but the universe doesn't change, at least not on a human scale. One day we will all be gone, but this fascinating universe and its mysteries will remain. I hope human civilization ends up uncovering more of the puzzles of the cosmos before we succumb to whatever it is that will ultimately end us. *FALSE* Religions are MAN MADE institutions and by definition limited to this tiny little planet, which is insignificant in comparison to the scale of just our solar system, much less the universe.
      And I do know something of religion. I realized it was all bullshit and scare tactics when I was just 14. Don't get me wrong - I want to believe the pretty mantra and dogma, but I'm sorry, I just cannot accept the outrageous tales and half-baked interpretation of ancient legends that religion is founded upon. Warm, fuzzy feelings and ancient fold tales are not enough for me, and religion has consistently failed to provide any sort of rationale at all.
      And don't take this the wrong way, but you obviously don't understand Atheism. I seriously doubt you ever will until you actually QUESTON the tenets of your faith with a rational mind. To do this, you have to actually think for yourself, which religion typically vilifies, because no religion survives rational thought.

    • @KitCox

EVERY religion is nothing but the imagination of some human testicle somewhere since no human being can prove otherwise.
