- See some rad hot rods, crazy dragsters and awesome drag racing.
Outrageous, wild and unpredictable supercharged blown alcohol altereds in quarter mile drag racing.
Side-by-side track-length burn-outs, awesome dry hops and 200 mph speeds on 6 seconds elapsed times.
English Town Raceway Park is the setting for the Old Time Drags!
Fluid camera work, tight fisted editing, ambient track sounds make this tape a solid experience!
This VHS Film serves as a great time capsule which displays the car scene, the style, fashion and people of the time.
It shows the way of life and the way of doing things, from how the video is cut and recorded to what is shown and how it is shown as a whole.
The Film was captured as good as the material and the software allowed it, color corrections and sound fixes were made when possible.
The Film was not compressed and is uncut to give the viewer the truest experience. - Auta a dopravní prostředky
They always put on a good show, and can’t believe how much I miss drag racing at E-Town…..
Thank you for sharing your memories! I bet there are many people out there missing the classic idea of motorsport, local tracks and just plain weekend fun. Here in Germany it is equally hard to find such events because of noise restrictions, track closures, safety regulations and environmental politics. Organizing such events surely takes some effort and passion, but what for when the society has moved away from social events, going outside on a sunny day or spending family time!
I lived on Park Ave., miss all the action from the track. Great times and memories. Track is still active. Thanks for sharing. 12/29/22
That's awesome to hear! Love to keep the memories alive and vivid!
The only class of cars that I never had the opportunity to see at Raceway Park as both a spectator and an employee
Well, I hope you've got some enjoyment out of the video at least! Thank you for sharing your memories!
Cool. Old bridge township
This is what local tracks like Atco need bring in nostalgia drags guarantee bring a good crowd
I'm sure it would! They really need to raise up some storms to keep them tracks alive! There are so many young passionate and talented people that could zap together a sweet looking website or instagram page and present the upcoming events on facebook and elsewhere to spread the word and it could be a success!
Look at me, I'm just a young man in Germany that got his hand on old VHS Tapes and has taught himself on how to digitize videos and now this video has been watched over 70.000 times, bringing some joy and entertainment to folks like you! That is what the internet has to offer. And it surely is up for grabs!
Drag Racing at Englishtown’s Raceway Park!
Bringing back old memories of probably the best of east coast racing facilities.
Was at the 1st Summernationals there and countless other races from National Events to match races.
It was a sad day in drag racing when we lost this facility.
The track may be gone, I’ll never forget seeing our hero’s race there…
From Sox and Martin, Grumpy Jenkins, Dyno Don and Don Carlton to Jungle Jim, Bruce Larson, Don Schumacher, Richard Tharp and Top Fuelers driven by the likes of Don Garlits, Clayton Harris, Herm Peterson and Jeb Allen
Oh, and did I leave out the Mongoose and Snake?
And those are just some of the legends from the old days. Way too many others I can’t list here but they live on in my memories.
But two people special to me that I had the pleasure of calling friends, Brent and Vicky Fanning of Udder Nonsense Racing.
Nobody tried harder to put on a good show than those two.
Thanks for this post!
Anything that let’s me reminisce about those days is a treasure. 👍🏻🍻❤️😎
Wow! I am speechless! Thank you so much for sharing your memories and experience! You, kind Sir, are the reason for me uploading videos like these! I love being able to bring joy and happy memories into other peoples lifes! I was not able to enjoy those good ol' times first hand on account of me not being born or even being planned yet haha, but I surely love reading and hearing those first hand encounters and tales of bygone eras.
I wish you the best! You might be interested in some of my other uploads of old car meets, drag racing and car shows! Subscribe, if you don't wanna miss out on future uploads of this quality!
Greetings from Germany!
What a fun time in my life,my father 💝 Harry Hall ran with those guys,we all had fun!
That is so interesting! Thank you so much for sharing this Story! There's more on my channel to discover.
These aren't old school. The original Altereds were all short wheel base cars. These represent later long wheel base cars. They added length to tame the hard to control short based cars!
Thanks for your Information! I hope you enjoyed it anyway! Take care!
I remember when Scott Jezak was running them when they ran at NEDway. Neil Parker was awesome.

Greetings from Germany!
I absolutely miss going to Raceway Park. Such a shame, all the shows were great especially the time I saw The Grateful Dead there.
Aren't there anymore Events being held, or are you just not able to attend those anymore?
Thank you for your personal experience, it's very nice to hear!
@@alfderbabybenz7092 There's no more drag racing held There! I believe there is a drifting track that is in operation over in the big field area! Less noise!!
@@richarddouglas1712 the drag strip was turned into a drift track. The track in the field is also used for drifting and the "Supercar Driving Experience" events
Yep, saw The Dead there too. I even remember some of it😂
Awesome video!
Thanks a lot! Be sure to check out my other uploads as I may have much more in store for you!
Neal Parker who is seen this in this video would lose his life at Englishtown in 2010 during qualifying for the national event there.
Wow, that's sad to hear. I hope he has lived a life worth living continuing from this Event shown here onwards. May he rest in piece as he lost his life doing what he loved.
Thank you very much for sharing, as I am deeply unaware of this scene and this side of the community!
Ah, the good old days....
So true!!
I have a lot more stuff like this in the pipe, be sure not to miss it, if you've like the content so far!

"...wild and unpredictable supercharged blown alcohol ..."
Wow! These puppies aren't just supercharged. No sir. They're supercharged AND blown...
(Do I need to add a sarcasm sign?)
hahaha!
I was at these events in E town. so sad that it is no more!!
Absolutely I miss going to Englishtown. Such a shame Everyone I knew would go there. I remember seeing the Grateful Dead there!
Wow, thank you for sharing your memories here!
Fantastic cars, magnificent camera work, and a great video .... but the commentator should restrict himself to covering tic-tac-toe & checkers competition.
Hahaha, yeah, he is a little bit on the low side... Be sure to check out my other videos, as you might love them too!
I miss this class ecspecially the wild bunch aswell
You're not alone Sir! Many people liked this more than what we have now. It is not about tempo, faster and faster times, huge racing teams with evermore sponsors and money behind them. It just destroys the competition and it's rare to have a local dragstrip where youngsters as much as past generations can battle themselves for plain fun and a little reward.
I just recently bought an altered this pass summer complete roller I'm in the process of building he motor and transmission hopefully the class can come back I don't know if Dr wacko or carol Hines is still around haven't heard much about them even camp Stanley
I thought English town sold track shut down- this is old Vidio 😊
yeah, this video was made some time ago! Sad to see those tracks being shut down!
I love Henry Ford's cars 1923 to 1933 1932 was the best I love this film Gary
Thank you very much for your Comment! Be sure to check out other Videos on my channel as i have uploaded some other stuff you might like!
What year ? 199?
Must be early 90s...
Is atco still open??? Idk??
I am not from the States or from the area and can't tell you that. The other comments say it is closed...
🟥 Used to race my 56 vette in gas class back in the late 60s there. My wife's step mother sold houses in that area and they only showed the houses on weekdays. Sunday came around and the people would fall out of bed when the fuelers fired up. Hense no more drags. BTW...the announcers last name is Napoliello, not. Napp. He should be proud of his name and not shorten it. Also, his daddy owned the track.
Wow, thank you for your story and the insight into the Tracks history and the memories you've made with it!
@@alfderbabybenz7092 🟥 Thanks for the response. About a hundred years ago when I was 17, my buddies dad had a construction company and did some work at the track. We would take the shop truck and race the owner in his jaguar down the track then back toward the starting line just for shitz and giggles. Weekday obviously. I think his first name was Vincent.
