Serial number and supposed location of manufacture aren’t always relevant. Some belts are 100% real but just aren’t registered because they where leftovers in the factories that didn’t make it to the outlets. Because of this a huge number of them end up being sold on the black market for extremely cheap. Because they didn’t make it to outlets they don’t have official serial numbers on them. So if everything about the belt is legit other then the markings on the back, your belt is still real. Don’t worry. And Luis belts are manufactured in turkey, not France or Spain. The ones that do end up being exported end up getting branded in Spain and redistributed from there. This explains why some belts will be 100% legit even though it says made in France. This is relevant to other brands such as Gucci, Prada etc.

Another difference is (real pairs should have the following) :
1) the corner of the buckle should be like the side of a hexagon and not a square's corner
2) it should start off with a half box
3) it should say louis vuitton on the 5 1/2 box (starting from the side with the buckle) that should be the first box that says it

You are wrong on the made in France bit. I bought a LV belt from Harrods in December and it was made in France not Spain. It varies on each belt.

If you look at the "LV" the tops of the buckle has the horizontal lines on top of each letter and the bottom left corner of the "L" if you look close the real one the ends are slanted and on the fake it's vertical.
You can also clearly see it from the loui texture its always 5,5 squars where the fake starts at the have square

In many cases you'll never know if it's fake. It's a million time safer to just buy it from the official source rather than resellers. Eye balling is NOT worth the gamble.
You can see that there are some loose threads on the fake one. You can bet there won't be any imperfections on a bran new, real belt.

Most Graphite Damier LV Belts Came Out In 2012
Actually this one's easy because the real damier graphite belts don't come with a suede on the other side but a black leather, but gotta admit that that the front part is easy to make a replica of because its pretty plain and the buckle as well,doesn't take too much effort for the fakers .

This is actually a scary good fake. Yes if you look up close you can figure it out but just at a glance while someone is wearing it, it would be quite hard to tell.
