The ballet is set in the mid-19th century. Lord Wilson is travelling in Egypt and during bad weather takes shelter in pyramid, where he hears a tale of the rulers entombed there and of the pharaoh’s beloved daughter Aspicia.
Wilson falls asleep and in his dream he becomes the Ancient Egyptian Ta-Hor. Overcoming all obstacles, Ta-Hor and Aspicia fall into each other’s embraces. Lord Wilson wakes up, but was it just a dream?

I really love this ballet! It's a pity it's so underrated, but I'm glad Lacotte did reconstruct this ballet gem. I read that it was the favorite ballet in imperial Russia....

В 2023 году в Мариинском театре был поставлен этот балет в версии, наиболее близкой к хореографии Петипа. Постановщик Тони Канделоро изучал этот балет около 20 лет прежде, чем поставить его.
It isn't underrated, F.. It is internationally admired these days....and for good reason. Mr. Lacotte (RIP) took great pains reconstructing this work. He even consulted with the original ballerina who danced the lead role decades earlier.
@@classicalaid1 It might be not underrated by ballet enthusiasts (and it had been also very amazing by John Neumeier that he referenced this ballet in the Arabian Dance for his Nutcracker production), but it's less known by "general audience". There had been only one DVD release so far and I don't know any other famous company apart from the Bolshoi Ballet regularly performing it. Do you know more? And I have never seen this amazing adventure love story in any ballet stories book so far (which is a pity, such romantic ballets as for example also Le Corsaire are missing in those...).
The Pharaoh's Daughter is a spectacular show ✨️ with the gorgeous principal Svetlana Zacharova ❤ 😊 😍 💖 ❣️ 💕 as 'Aspicia'! And of course Skvortsov is quite handsome and an elegant dancer. I admire those fabulous corps de ballet dancers ❣️ 💕 💘 too 😊 absolutely! Thank you to @ DanceLine Ballet for this lovely post ❤ 😍 💖.
It's such a silly, sily story (which I never fully understood before now!), but I can suspend belief for a while because the staging is magnificent and the choreography is thrilling, and incredibly beautifully danced by all. Thank you and please do more 10 minute summaries of difficult to understand ballets.

It is a beautiful ballet. Just think how much more beautiful it would be if the characters playing the parts looked like the people who they are portraying. Black people.
There is a wonderful, very first DVD version of this amazing work with Zakarova and Filin. I have it on DVD. It would be great if you could mount excerpts from that amazing version...from before Filin was blinded by a rival Bolshoi dancer seeking revenge for no good reason.

Thanks for the video but... Why is the variation choreographed to be so happy? Isn’t it supposed to be read as a rejection with determination and maybe a little bit anger? I tried to think maybe she is telling everyone she actually found someone and was thinking about him while dancing but still it looked just too worry-free kinda happy. I’m not criticizing I just want to know the real intentions behind it 😊
