Great video. Until I watched this, I thought that I had put my super on too soon as I only installed an overwintered NUC a few weeks ago and they still have loads of room in the brood box, thanks.
What’s the best strategy for stopping the bees refilling the frames of comb you eventually want to remove and replace with foundation? Move them to the edge?
Looking forward to a nice full season this year. Sadly, bad weather is due here in Kent, so going to hamper my OSR harvest :/ We actually did a split last week on our biggest hive, first proper artificial split ever done, keep wanting to open them up to check out of nervousness!
@@gwenyngruffydd Yeah they're all good, I'm just over eager - I used to keep the hives in the cathedral grounds and I couldn't look at them easily, but now that all of my hives are in the back garden, I can see them right there! I just want to go and play with them :P Next job is to do some queen rearing to replace one hive's queen with another stock, as she's red, so getting on in years.
Great question. Move them to the end of the box let the brood emerge. the queen normally doesn’t lay as much on the end frames so you’ll have very little brood in them.

These are great videos. Hoping this crappy weather improves soon. Thanks for the job list!
Thank you.
Your right. Getting a bit worried on store levels of some of the bees.

Amazing videos, do you have any videos on setting up bait boxes?
Will be filming one covering that very soon.
@@gwenyngruffydd Legend....keep up the good work 💪
Thanks 😊
When you replace individual frames what do you do if they need replacing but have brood in them?
Great question. Move them to the end of the box let the brood emerge. the queen normally doesn’t lay as much on the end frames so you’ll have very little brood in them.
Brilliant thank you 👍🏻
Thank you Darrell 😊
