    Why Learn Hadoop?
    Big Data! A Worldwide Problem?
    According to Wikipedia, "Big data is collection of data sets so large and complex that it becomes difficult to process using on-hand database management tools or traditional data processing applications." In simpler terms, Big Data is a term given to large volumes of data that organizations store and process. However, it is becoming very difficult for companies to store, retrieve and process the ever-increasing data. If any company gets hold on managing its data well, nothing can stop it from becoming the next BIG success!
    The good news is - Hadoop has become an integral part for storing, handling, evaluating and retrieving hundreds of terabytes, and even petabytes of data.
    - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
    Opportunities for Hadoopers!
    Opportunities for Hadoopers are infinite - from a Hadoop Developer, to a Hadoop Tester or a Hadoop Architect, and so on. If cracking and managing BIG Data is your passion in life, then think no more and Join Edureka's Hadoop Online course and carve a niche for yourself!

    Hi Reshma, what exactly happening when both WRITE and READ operations performed on a block at same time?

    • @edurekaIN
      @edurekaIN  Pƙed 6 lety +9

      HDFS follows WORM i.e. Write Once Read Many policy. Once the block that has been written to HDFS can't be edited or modified. Hence, you will never be able to write to the data blocks already residing in HDFS. And yes, multiple user can perform read operation concurrently on same data blocks.
      Hope this helps :)

    @43:25 why block B had more number (6) to traverse compared to block A (4).. means why is it going via switch? Is it because of the racks..

    • @edurekaIN
      @edurekaIN  Pƙed 6 lety

      Hey Ranveer, that is just a demonstration. Actually all inter-rack communications are done via a switch. Hope this helps :)

      Hey Aditya, sorry for the delay. If you see the values column in the input text file, each tuple has three words and 2 spaces between the three words.
      Hope this helps!

    The explanation of MapReduce is awesome.. I have one question, Most of all SQL operations are done in PIG then where we will use the HIVE and what are the use-cases of HIVE.

    Where to BIG data get stored? isit in Hadoop? So Hadoop is like hardware drive which store data by means of HDFS??

  • @krishnarupeshnagubandi596
    @krishnarupeshnagubandi596 Pƙed 6 lety +1

    I didn't understand pipeline for copying. If we copy the block A three times which are available in three different racks. It is just a duplicate right?

    • @edurekaIN
      @edurekaIN  Pƙed 6 lety

      Hey Krishna, Hadoop is a cost effective solution because it uses commodity hardware. Now, as they are commodity hardware, they are more prone to faliure. Thus, we keep replicas, that if one of the hardware fails we have the backup of the data which is stored on it. To understand more about how replication takes place, you can go through this hdfs tutorial blog -> www.edureka.co/blog/apache-hadoop-hdfs-architecture/#rack_awareness
      Hope this helps :)
