  • Spent the morning tacking in some panels to just check on fitment on my old Morris Minor. To give myself some space I also whipped out the steering column.

Your battlein on ok, the actual cab floor isn’t bolted to the chassis in the middle, just front cab feet, gearbox cover, hand brake lever and 2 either side at the rear outside back of the cab, the inner wings are a nightmare involving as many pairs of grips you can find a lot of beating with a big hammer, and a lot of swearing and cursing as in what twa* made this the wrong shape, other thing you drilled holes in the plate you put in, personally I would of positioned the inner wing and drilled through that easier than trying to weld the other way with limited access

Ah, good point it probably will be a pig to weld now! Oops. I've got about 10 pairs of grips and took about 1/2 hour to just get it to where it was almost looking like an inner wing! Thanks for the continued advice.

Your welcome I’ve made mistakes along the way, you could always get some plug welding pliers, a bit like mole grips copper pad on one side enables you to weld the holes up and weld from the outside, plus when plug welding you can clamp and weld without burning through, just a thought, looks like a flich repair in the past, if the wing fitted ok and lined up o usually get a straight edge through the centre of the rear mounting bolts draw a line at the top panel, the bit your not removing measure down to the top bolt and you can then get the. Position correct and using the front panel every thing should be in the right place

Oooh, ok, I will take a look now! Would you recommend plug welding the domed inner wing to the tie plate and the flat inner wing? Also I'm worried that there is no meat left on the bulkhead we weld, so I might need to make something up!

Yes plug weld everything, the end of the floor pan lip at the front should be bent downwards nor upwards and yes if the back edge lip is too bad make a section
