That video really captures him. I notice younger fans and newer fans see him through the prism of the shootings, the court cases, prison, death, etc. But as someone who enjoyed him in real time, we all just fell in live with his his light. You couldn’t not look at him. I first knew him from “Juice”and “Poetic justice” but I he was also the cute dark skinned dude in the DU “Same Song” video with the Afrocentric verse and the cute guy who kissed the girl at the end of the DU video for “Kiss You Back”. He didn’t rap one line in that video, but we remembered him. He shined long before he was truly solo. He always stood out. I remember guys dismissing him in the beginning, calling him a “girl rapper” because girls initially liked him the most. But they eventually fell in love with him and took his death worse than us girls.

This song takes me back to being 14. Waking up on a sunny Sydney morning, excited to get out on a weekend to my local skate park, smoking weed with my friends and being around pretty girls. Getting up to mischief. Having fun before responsibility kicked in. Every day was an adventure. It was 1999. Pac is far from my fav artist but some of his tracks were a huge part of my growing up.
Funnily enough two of my fav tracks of his are Only Fear Of Death and Wonder If Heaven Got A Ghetto. Both released by Deathrow records on his first Posthumous album. I hate Changes because it's a recycled Heaven Got A Ghetto track and released under his mother's influence. Which is sweet but it's overly happy, and that was dishonest to the artist. Pac put his heart and true feeling out on his final recordings. Only Fear Of Death is haunting. Speaking about his own death and paranoia on the verge of his own demise. One of the realest songs I have ever heard. Those two songs are Pacs true feelings before he was killed. Rap is about keeping it real and that's what they were.

Ironically, the majority of the rest of the album is much darker and aggressive than the three songs you reacted to. Those are the most radio friendly songs by far. You gotta remember this was right after they tried to ban his first album and he got beat up by the police, so he was quite jaded already. I don't blame you for getting the impression that the album is more lighthearted than his later work, but I wouldn't say it's any lighter than All Eyez on Me.
