Okay, this channel is awesome. Absolutely gorgeous axes being made by you! Very wholesome and pure channel, that's awesome! Keep up the great work guys!
Looking forward to seeing your channel develop, and your homesteading journey. Best of luck to you guys.
Dont be afraid to do a wide variety of video types :) This video was informative and just as entertaining as the rest. you never know what some will like and some wont until you try. I myself love a variety in content and if i end up liking one style over the next it gives me something to look forward to waiting for the next. great video!
Awesome axes! I love the work buddy!
Love your axe work and, like Cody thank you for sharing the knowledge.
Awesome love your channel great job
glad to see this video as ive been looking for one that fits my needs.
SunsetBay Bonnie Hit up those garage sales!
good idea!
You really do a great job on those axe heads, you take pride in your work and thats refreshing.
I love that. "You've got to find the beauty hiding inside it." Applies to a lot of things in life.
I am certainly enjoying your videos. You are a testament of a fine young man. Take care
+ncautoman57 Wow! Thank you so much!
Love your videos
Hi there,
found this channel via Wranglerstar. Hope to see many nice and informative homesteading videos. I learned a lot from Cody and I trust him when he recommends your work.
Greetings from Germany
awesome stuff! this is my fav things to do and watch! play with axes!!!!!!!!!!! thank for the mentions! that hatchet you made for someone is the most beautiful axe/hatchet i'v ever seen
+Luke's Bushcraft Go you own an angle grinder?
yes I do...?
+Luke's Bushcraft Im gonna do a vid on another version of the shiny axe using the grinder, should be cool and easy. Thanks for you vids Brother, I enjoy watching your channel!
looking forward to it! thanks for you vids, I can't wait to see what vids you upload. I think you'll have 100,000 subs before to long.
+Luke's Bushcraft I promise to keep them coming. Thanks for the support!
Just what we needed in the axe community. I just started a little channel and want to do a similar video on all the 2lb axes on the market. That Collins is gorgeous!
sweet! I love the idea of using what your have to the fullest. I've often found myself in the past buying gear that's not absolutely necessary
great video!
Great video
I'm glad that I was directed here by Wranglerstar. Sweet channel. I will definitely be sticking around! And for the question of the knife, I love carrying my Esee Izula daily, however you can't beat a Mora for the price!
Came over due to Wranglerstar, & glad I did. I've gotten to the point in life that after +55 years of woodsrunnin I found my old Norland Hudson Bay Boy's hand axe and my almost 40 year old 'no name' 3/4 axe do everything I need in the woods. But then everything considered this being mho your mileage may vary...lol
'Stay safe keep warm have fun & whittle to keep your sanity'.

"Just get an axe, put an edge on it and start chopping." i couldnt have said it better. i bought a collins boys axe. same as yours for my first and i couldnt be happier.
GOOD VDO, HOWEVER I’M GONNA STILL GO WITH THE “GRANSFORS BRUKS SCANDINAVIAN. WITH IT HISTORY AND REPUTATION. MY ANCESTRY WERE ARTIST CARPENTER AND WE’RE TRULY RESPECT GRANSFORS BRUKS. NOT TO GIVE GIVE YOU ANY CREDIT FOR THOSE OTHER AXES THOUGH, WITH MUCH LOWER PRICE AND STILL DOES IT JOB, IT PRETTY GOOD MAN. THANK YOU.
Great video. I love to old American axe's. They are way under rated and I love the history of them. After restoring a few of them, my grandpa gave me an old basket of axe heads he's been collecting since he was a kid. 😄😄 I've got an old embossed Keen Cutter boys axe that stays in the truck all the time now. I've had to cut my way out of some logging roads after trees have fallen behind me. It's big enough to do real work and not so big that my twelve year old can't use it.
GR8 stuff & thx 4 the 411 on Luke's Bushcraft
Excellent video. Good axe is a treasure. "Something beautiful hiding inside it" -- well spoken; will be my sentence for the day.
+Ram Sidi Ram,i am begining to see that we are alot alike!
I really like the design you do on the axe heads, it gives them a really nice look. Haven't seen anyone else doing that. Heard about your channel from Wranglerstar, subbed, will be watching your channel friend. I'm your neighbor here in TX.
That my friend has gone beyond patina lol. That’s called rusty 😅
pro trick: you can watch movies on flixzone. Me and my gf have been using them for watching a lot of movies lately.
i love the handle on your favorite axe, it looks so slim and rough!
It fun to breakaway and do something a little different ever once in awhile. Looks like a great axe and I bet he will enjoy it
+Rusty Glovebox I sure hope he is not afraid to get it dirty.
I've actually followed this very advice and have aquired a few simple used axes. My favorite one is a no name head in the bottom of a box at a flea market. Holds an edge and has nice heft and was the first axe I ever hung.
the sog flashback is the best medium sized folder I have ever had and it carries so deep in your pocket
for a fixed blade I love the Gerber infantry knife it's really robust holds an edge beautify and has a great strong sheath with great positive retention
God bless
Great stuff. I just got the Gerber Center Drive Multi Tool. Great EDC and ranch knife with one hand opening. Got the idea from Cody 👍
Great videos. Love my Gransfors Bruks SFA but I catch myself grabbing my Council Tools boys axe I rehandled more often than not.
Will you be showing how you decorate the axe head? I guess I could fire up the dremel and experiment, but it looks like you have a pretty good technique figured out.
Nice work again. But, how did you work that finishing detail into the axe head? .....
You make great videos. Love the axes, shaves hair well!
+PAPA Texas Thanks you Sir!
See you Monday?
+PAPA Texas Sure thing! Should be heading out early. I will let you know if anything changes
Nice video. You have some good axes.
You almost told us how you add the texture in the blade. I love how it looks. Any tips?
Love my Husqvarna limbing aka GP axe, limbs pounds wedges dose everything I need falling timber..
very good video
I only have one axe. It is the Gransfors Bruk small forest axe. I don't know that it is the best but I bought it because 1: I got a great deal on it and 2) Almost everyone uses Gransfors axes as a comparison to whatever axe they are promoting at the time. Which means to me, if not the best, they are certainly among the best. Thanks for the video.
I have an old hand axe that's pretty rusty and pockmarked. Will you perhaps make a demonstration video on how to properly grind & restore an axe without ruining the temper? Thanks, loving your videos!
+vickorano You got it!
I bounce back and forth between an Esee Izula 2 and Bradford Guardian 3. Both are phenomenal knives.
How did you polish the ax head to almost a mirror finish? Does this type of finish help reduce rust?
Awesome video brother, that's what I been messing around with today is a couple axes I have I am putting a longer handle than on one, and the redoing the handle and cleaning up another. I been trying to figure out what kind of video I wanted to shoot while I had some time off this week, and I believe I will take you up on your video response about the knife. I like doing requests and different out of the ordinary videos so be looking for that sometime, when I get it done I will post it on here so I know you will get to see it!!
+The Dog House Outdoors Excellent! I cant wait! I realy enjoy your reviews. Did you record your a vid with the axes?
No, I was kinda back and forth of working on my two axes, cleaning up my building, working on some of my tools, had to put a new stitch on my bench grinder, and a new blade on my scroll saw. So I had about 6 projects going lol I got most done except my axes.
+The Dog House Outdoors Ha! Funny haw that goes,ya gotta do six jobs just to complete one.
I love my Kershaw leek. I've had mine for 12 years and haven't lost it. nice and slim with a good clip
I always find myself using my little hatchet way more for things around camp than the axe, but the Gransfors Bruks Hunter model is still on my wish list!
+Dean Reisel I agree, it's definitely better to have options. Thats why I have thirty😉
The Good of the Land the whoa that's a lot! I only have a few, but my problem with the big axes is with the handles, I'm always cracking them.. lol
+Dean Reisel Thats what makes axes so fun! Handle....Crack.....rehandle
The Good of the Land lol, truth
Esee 3 is a great functional small thin fixed blade. It's a bit pricey but I'd recommend it all day. I think they might make it in stainless too if you prefer. Mines desert tan and od green for more natural colors and I love it
+Kyle Grammatas Great! I Will check it out! I love desert tan! Thanks for the tip!
For the past 11 months my pocket edc has been the green surplus Swiss Army made for the German Army. Easy to carry and versatile. Interesting that the primary blade is partially serrated. I have had many uses for in the house, outside, at work, even at my daughters wedding recently.
For a knife recommendation I would suggest the Enzo Trapper (lots of CZcams reviews already). It fits the parameters for what your looking for and not expensive. They have several steel, handle, and grind options available. I like ordering the kits so you can fit the handle to your own hand. Personally, I like making them as gifts and the price is much less than a custom knife. I get mine form "Scandinavian Knife supply". The apostle P did a handle fit out a few years back if you want to check it out. Just my suggestion. Keep the videos coming!
watched the giveaway axe over on wranglerstar so i i decided to subscribe to your channel cool videos ty
I'm interested in a good recommendation for an edc of that nature as well...
Seconded for the Husqvarna. I bought the Carpenter's Axe last year for splitting kindling. Keeps its edge and has done pretty nicely for some (very) amateur carving.
Good stuff! U are sooo right! I do the same thing almost all the axes in my collection are old plumbs, collins, simmons, I. Blood, hults that I found at garage sales, antique malls, or internet and restored for next to nothing! Now the only delema i have is when i go camping or process wood is what beautiful old tools to take with me!? Im wondering if you could share with us what technique you are using to put those killer dimples into the heads you are restoring? I have a couple waiting for me to find time to restore and would love to try to make one for myself? Please?😉
Bender429 he already did a video about how to do that.
Of course, I like both Granefors axes and Mora knives, and your videos, continue in the same track and I will follow them :)
I have a Helle from Norway. Fantastic.
Don't personally own one yet but I'd say the Morakniv Craftline Carpentry Chisel is right up your alley. Wranglerstar has his own video on it and he absolutely loves it! Thought I'd send that your way!
With your talent you should build one great vid I have not used a Gransfors Bruks yet but I can see they are a lovely tool. I can not pass up a American made axe in a used shop for a couple bucks I have way to many
+cabotbluegill Thank you! Its funny, actualy like my cheap Collins better. Im just like you, can't get enough!
Good luck !
Have you found your ideal fixed blade edc knife yet?
I also am enjoying your channel! did you grind the chip out or cut the new profile. keep up the great work.
I love your faceting of the axes and now I want to do it too! I have at least 30 garage sale finds to work on that I haven't handled yet. Not counting the many I've already done. My garage looks like an axe/knife/shovel boneyard thanks to peeps like you and Wranglerstar and Nutnfancy (I'm a knife guy too). CZcams may be free but it has cost me sooooo much money!
I have held my tongue (fingers?) up to now, but what's with the LSU hat, man?!
Just kidding. I'm a native Arkansan, who grew up in Northern California, and "came home" 12 years ago, and I don't really give a rip about the Hogs. People here are so over-the-top about sports that it turned me off.
I love your channel. I haven't binged watched through all of the videos because I want to savor them. Speaking (typing?) of savor, I've watched the bacon video over and over. I showed it to the other members of my family, one at a time so I could see it again and again.
I would recommend an Esee 3, they have a lifetime warranty and are built to last. I'll do a video of mine soon but there are a ton of them on here already.
Great axes! Haha your camera person "there's poo over here" lol!
my favorite axe is my tiny one it's a micro pack axe very similar to the small one wranglerstar 're handled on his channel a while back.
If you're looking for a smaller knife for edc I'd recommend the esee izula II. It's made from 1095 and esee does an awesome heat treat so their blades hold up well. It has a little over a 2.5" blade and it's less than 7" overall. It does have a tiny handle which isn't the most comfortable but that's its only drawback. If you're only planning on using it to cut open bags and boxes and other every day tasks then the handle shouldn't be much of an inconvenience. I'd post a video but I don't have the means currently. Good luck with your knife search and keep the awesome videos coming.
the crkt minimalist is a great little knife and there like $20 at Walmart. plus the design comes from a small custom knife maker in florida. so it's kinda like a custom knife without the price tag. I'm new here and I've really been enjoying your videos.
Nice axes. I keep looking at yardsales for decent ax. For some reason you just don't see that many. Thank you for the video,
+shovelhead8 Thanks brother! They are getting scarce, do you have a flee market neer you?
Flea Markets come and go up here. I keep my eyes open for them as I travel around. Thank you for the reply
+shovelhead8 Sure thing!
+The Good of the Land thanks for this video recommendation! It has given me some more axe options to think about. I have to ask, LSU and Red Oak, you would not happen to be a Louisiana resident? Anyway, this was another great video, and it one that truly has me impatient for the next video! Great work and good stuff.
+Travis The Jiu-Jitsu Guy Ha! When I need a new hat I just buy the nicest one on the four dollar rack at whatever convenience store I'm in at the time. We live in the tall pines of east texas and the rest of the family lives in central texas about 100 miles from Austin.
The Good of the Land I'm from central Louisiana, so we are not that far apart. Living in East Texas gives you alot of Jiu-Jitsu options! There are a few listed Gracie Jiu-Jitsu options potentially around you also!
If you ever need an axe for saw work, look at the Stihl splitting hatchet --drives wedges, clears brush, takes a fine edge and has enough heft to use as a wedge in a pinch. I even use mine for in-tree work. BTW, this is a great video!
+David Sonnen Thanks David!
Either you or Cody should do a video on antique or flea market hunting for axes. Things like what brands are good and what the makers marks look like, different styles and their uses, how to spot an axe that will be a good candidate for restoration with minimal skill or which ones will require more work. Just a basic primer for people looking to buy and restore an old axe.
+Aaron Johnson Thats a great idea!
Another good option is the Manly Patriot, definitely check that one out.
My every day knife is a sod buster, in a belt pouch.
Thanks for sharing.
If I send you a Sandvik head, would you fix it up for me?
If so, how much you charge?
Keep up the good work!
My favorite belt knive is the canadian belt knife. The originals are made in nova scotia by grohmann knives. Knife of alaska also makes a model called xtreme yukon knive and its good. And if you are not sure cold steels makes one that is 19,99$.
+Jonathan Boucher Thanks! I will check them out. I have looked at the cold Steel. It looks to be the perfect size.
Makes perfect sense to me. Sharpen what ya ' got, and chop something!
+Carolina Chris Outdoors Thats it brother! Sharp and cheap bests dull and expensive.
Great comparison video. There's definitely lower cost axes that can compete with Gransfors.
But how long will they hold their edge? Idk if you have ever sharpened an axe but it can be a pain if you dont have a workshop with grinder and polisher. My gransfors bruks carving hatchet holds an edge forever where as my Helko Werk does not. Not to mention the design of my gb is perfect for carving.
Check out the bark river JX6 Companion knife. You'll probably love it!
Benchmade Bushcrafter Knife! Sorry I dont have a video but its a great knife
An ESEE Izula II is a fantastic option for you specific criteria.
I would look att he benchamde hidden canyon hunter. It's just over a two and a half inch blade and is S30V. You have the choice between wood scales sand a leather sheath or G10 and a kydex sheath
I recommend Wallace knife works for a good belt knife. He is on face book and you tube.
+Dan Fraser Thank you i will check it out!
This sold me on the gransfors
where do you find that first axe for 130.00
Nice work......still, the gransfors bruks is the best one you've shown. I agree though, cant go wrong w a 3 dollar head and new handle
My favorite small axe is a Cold Steel Trail Boss.
nice axe!
It's good to have variety in your videos. That axe for John is a show piece and shaves hair.
+Nathan4071 Thanks Nathan. It should be a great little splitter!
It sounds like you already have a great knife. It works for you, and at 8 bucks you don't cry if it gets lost or broken. My EDC is a Smith and Wesson Special Tactical. Why, It gets the job done and it's 10 to 15 bucks. It is a work knife. I use it, I do not shave with it. It IS an all around good knife and I just can't justify the cost of a Benchmade. Different strokes. LOL
Just subscribing.Good luck to whoever wins the axe.I do not need it,thank you.
Here is a link to video about knives. You might like this one ~!~!
Well said," get an ax, put an edge on it, and start choppin"
3 river knives is your best bet, I remember a girl that like chips, I never got the chance to know her.
as for the carry knife, go with the becker BK2
enzo necker. comes with scandi or full flat grind
esse has some great knives
do you oil all axes?
Ka bar Becker Bk14 or Bk16 awesome EDC knives
I'm sitting here grinning from ear to ear with a tear in my eye. That thing is gorgeous. I have the exact knife you described. What's your email? I'll send a pic.
+John Capps Sweet, theabexperts@gmail.com
Considering their 20 year warranty period, Gransfors Bruks are quite inexpensive on an annual basis.
They will easily outlive their warranty period, which makes them even less expensive per annum.
