Every time I hear announcers talk about Steve Young's great ability to scramble my mind always asks the question, "what if he'd had the same quality of offensive line that Joe had?"
Steve was great at making bad plays into good plays, but he had to do it way too much because the o-line wasn't nearly as good as it had been during the Montana years and he suffered, I think, seven concussions during his time as starting QB.

I was just admiring how graceful he was. Haven’t really cared about football in years, but brought me back to my grade school days. I was always either Emmitt Smith or Cunningham when we played with the neighborhood kids.

You forgot the Elway run in Super Bowl 32 when he ran for a 1st down and took on 3 Green Bay defenders and ended up doing a helicopter spin in the air. That was an epic run for an aging QB.

That's my all-time favorite Elway play - and he had plenty of good stuff to choose from.
But his grit and determination on his way to that first Super Bowl ring was something special.
Quarterbacks may occasionally embarrass a defender, but nothing could be more embarrassing for a quarterback than jumping away from his own fumble like it was a live snake.

Josh Allen owns this embarrassing the defender category. The leap of over defender against Minnesota, the run through three de lineman for the first down against the Dolphins and the first down fumble snap against the Cowboys on Thanksgiving are better than almost all of these.

at around :42 Vick gets away, circles back around and just SPEEDS up like he stepped on those arrows in racing games that jolt you forward

although he's gonna be an afterthought this year, Gardner Minshew did have the best TD throw if his career against Denver in 2019. Would've been nice to seen that. But I understand the metrics you went off of (sorta)

The guy ran his mouth, taunted and showboated when he was winning (I know 2015 might be hard to remember but trust me, he did).

I personally think that 90-95% of these are just great plays by the QB that are not actually embarrassing the D. Now that stiff arm from Dak Prescott was embarrassing. Also that corner that didn't even recognize the QB keeper around the edge would have been really embarrassing also to me. Good video though.

I love how quarterbacks are evaluated like toddlers. Some (not all!) of these just show a fit person with two legs not choosing to dive for the turf when someone might touch him.

No Romo clips? Not necessarily QB run clips... But i remember his 20 some yard scramble off a bad snap in 07...and him spinning away from JJ Watt in 14... A couple others of him embarrassing defenders in the pocket... Great video nevertheless💯
Fran Tarkenton had some amazing scrambles that embarrassed defenders. Also, the Steve Young 50-yard run against the Vikings.
I respect the old guys for their scrambles, but those of the last few years are tainted, because the defenses aren't allowed to hit the quarterbacks of today if they start to run.

McNair had a great career, but I always wonder what could have been if he hadn't had all those wasted years and instead had a scheme that catered to his strengths. I think he could have been consensus one of the greatest of all time if he had what Carolina gave Cam or what Baltimore gives Lamar.

It could be argued that Harper let up after picking up the fumble. The score was 31-6 in favor of the Saints with 5:33 left to go in the game. Had he scored it might have looked like running up the score.
I think the reasons QBs get whiffed on so much is defenders expect them to slide. If they come in full boar and he slides it’s 15 yards and a new set of downs.

I feel like QBs have an advantage when scrambling other more nimble players dont... defenders are scared to hit them hard and assume they will slide so when they don't they are prepared. And they are worried if they go for the big hit and they do slide it will become a roughing penalty

Love when D-backs (and WR's) look bad. They're usually the ones running their mouths, crying and delivering late hits and cheap shots. Great to see a few of em get crunched by a measley qb, especially Neon Deion.

I would credit half of those to the fact that defenders don’t want to put a hit on a QB and get called for targeting. These new rules have crippled the defense.
The Favre one was especially bad because he was a few yards from the end zone, so that defender should have known damn well it was a pump fake.
This video is a good example of why people smoke the qb, they fake going down or out then do runs like this then “they’re embarrassed” but if they hit them they get a penalty lol

Definitely needs a heaping helping of Ben, dude made his career embarrassing defenders...even last year losing a step, they'd have him dead to rights and he'd just spin away from them and scramble around and make something incredible happen. I'd have said the title should be change to QB runs, but you show Stafford on the sort of play Ben is famous for at 2:03.
