This is one of the most iconic boomboxes. Very popular with collectors due to its shiny metal trim and the biggest, brightest LED meter ever put on a boombox. And it's actually decent quality too, with a weighted flywheel tuner.
I actually owned one of these. Great boombox back in the day. Bass was weak, but it was loud and not very heavy to carry around. The alarm thing was awesome! Traded it to a friend for his GF767 with missing speaker grilles. Blew the amp on the 767 putting in real sub-woofers in the middle (the two"speakers" in the middle are actually passive and just there for looks). Those 80's boomboxes have really shitty amplifiers. Changing the output impedance was not a good idea. I was in first year electrical engineering school and didn't know enough about electronics to really attempt fixing this. Maybe just a few more classes, I thought. By Junior year I was still not ready to fix this thing and it was taking up a lot of space so I ripped it apart and kept certain pieces for my parts bin (knobs, speakers, switches, big caps, transformer, etc.). I buy broken boomboxes now and repair them for resale. Kills me I didn't keep the 767 around as I can now easily repair whatever it was that I had shorted 30 years ago. A working 767 goes for over $1000 on eBay... kills me.
Wow, you have a quite history. What would you do when the only one side of the speaker sound well and other is not. Where do you want to check and replace the electronic parts. If you have such kind of information from your experience, I would like to know from you!
This looks huge! Never seen that thing before! Is that an 8 track tape deck in the middle as well? And with the obligatory vu meters... Wow.... And the bluetooth mod looks fantastic on it! And the noise. Wow...
The middle one is also cassette player. Top one is play only, bottom one will do the dubbing, recording, etc. Thank you for the comment and compliment!
I have this model and I love it for its looks. But when I compare the Conion with the JVC M90...the JVC sounds much more richer. BTW that vacuum noise scares the crap out of me when listening with earphones on! 😂😂😂
I agree with you. When I did the M90 sound test recently, I realized that it was soooo nice sound. I haven't uploaded on youtube, but sound was really nice. By the say, sorry for the vacuum noise LOL!
hi Teddy! I got a replacement motor for my C-100f, installed!. and it works excellent! I didn't know motors actually go bad! anyway just wanted to know if you know how the deck's song search system works on this model? I press the MSSI button, then I play FF to search for the song but it doesn't stop to play the next song it keeps F Fowarding, unless I'm not doing it right! I"d appreciate any info. thanks teddy! keep up on saving old electronics, they deserve a second chance!
I did not use search system, nor tested when I restored it. So I do not know how the mechanism is. But I think you can go to the some of the boombox forum and become member, ask them. The answer will be back to you right away.
@@teddyhashee thanks teddy! I was watching your video and I notice it's missing a lever piece, oh well at least I can find the song manually, thanks teddy!.
Deck sound a little muddy. Perhaps an head realignment is in order. Anyhow the speed sounds proper,so that's good. Thanks for the new video. Keep up the great work of saving these beauties.👍👍
You mean the music from cassette tape? It is from HITACHI in Japan, they included that sound test cassette with their 80's boombox. In ebay, you may still find the original sound test cassette tape.

Because i from Virginia i have seen small radio's. But that day in NY. I was dumb founded. 😲 So i walked into the shop. They had the ghettoblasters on the walls. Behind a glass door. And their was Sharp,JVC,Helix,Conion,RCA,Panasonic and ect. So i bought my Sharp VZ 2000. And my Conion C 100 -f . At the same time. An the man gave my a nice deal. And he gave me a business card.
@@teddyhashee And then i went back in 1987. To NYC to the shop again and i bought Sharp gf 999. The Conion C126-f . But i should have bought that Jumbo Helix with the 10 inch woofers thats a BAD MOTHER!
You are A boombox collector, indeed. I did not see such a shop these days in Manhattan, but if they still have such a shop I would like to visit there!
