This op was a blast, we didn't play with ACE but used some alternate health and armour mods instead, giving it a very different feel. The operation was meant to include the Half Life Zombies and Antlions too, but they sadly just broke the server entirely, there was no good footage of fighting them.

Probably the most wild realization in the Half-Life games is that all the aliens you fought from Xen in the first game? Yeah, they were *running away* from the Combine you face in HL2
@@VegetaLF7 Yah, what took perhaps a single day for the Xeno’s to start overwhelming the Facility and terrify the HECU. The combine took 7 hours to conquer the entire world.
At least the combine didn't shoot bees at you... Silver lining and whatnot
@@VegetaLF7the combine we face in half life 2 aren’t even the full extent of the combine either, most of the enemy are OTA which are literally just augmented enslaved humans created to just put down other humans. The striders, hunters, etc are simply other slave species of the combine that are easily expendable.
No you're not, the first game had way more difficult opponents
I made a Black Mesa incident op for me and my friends, before the combine arrive.
Should mention that we played as Black Mesa personnel that was on site normally, and after a full tour of the map before it went to shit the map started with us picking up classes:
-Security Guards could use submachineguns, shotguns, rifles and heavy pistols, but could also open secured doors and carry more ammo + wear heavy armored vests.
-Scientists could use pistols, submachineguns and machine pistols, alongside any scify gun around. They also were the squad medics and could carry more medical equipment + revive.
-And the Engineers were allowed to use any weapon, including the restricted heavy weapons like machineguns, rocket launchers, heavy snipers, grenade launchers and so on.
Plus they could set up turrets from time to time.
With the extremely limited roster of enemies from Half Life 1 we have in Arma I was able to keep it fresh, challenging and entertaining for them for a solid 4 hours before even adding in the military.
Once the military was added those specialisations were really useful, and the tight corridors meant that the enemy could get one shoted, but so could you.
They made ambushes, placed their own turrets, mines and would fight against aliens and surviving BM personnel that you could find and save for goodies.
And even then, in the middle of a firefight with the HECU you might just get clapped by an ant lion that was hiding in some tunnels you didn't clear 10 minutes ago.
Those were 2 really enjoyable days and the second best OP I've ever done (The best one is a full Fallout campaign where you play as the Enclave, but that one would take a month to beat for a whole team of players).
Now we are thinking on how to move from HL1 into HL2, but easily enough, in the end of the Black Mesa op, they choose to go rambo and kill absolutely anything they would find.
Military, aliens, survivors etc.
This means they get to be the Combine in the HL2 op I'm working on.
But I first will try to make a 7 Hours war op first, but that roster of enemies is even more reduced.

@@oceanmantakemebythehand3965 I attempted to add them in the end, and while I was succesful in having a sizeable group of them ambush my team once and then small groups on the way out (2 of them) unfortunately I was not able to make what we all wanted, the female jumping Black Ops.
Unfortunately, Arma literally has no female bodies or faces, it's an entirely separate mod but that means they need to have uniforms made explicitally for them.
And the Half Life 1 mod we used did not have such uniforms.

This would be a cool gamemode collab with Valve.
Create a 7 Hour War gamemode where a max number of players on an Arma map have 30 minutes to order themselves and prepare for a combine invasion, with announcements coming in on military channels about the events of Black Mesa. Finally when they arrive, its an overwhelming force of combing coming from a random map direction, with more randomly spawning around the map. The goal being to survive as long as possible
This required too much expansion of the half-life lore, since we don't really know what forces were used by the combines during the 7 hour war, with the possible exception of striders, hunters and gunships. All combine soldiers are former humans, and the apc and hunter choper are based on human technology so they could not have existed during the invasion.
@hermant437 weaponizing headcrabs is one I would bet.
And antlions too.
They would have needed some infantry force. You simply can't conquer a nation, even a city with just gunships, striders and Hunters

I've always loved the concept of HECU in the modern half life time. The Universal Union only left a small token force mostly of humans and their resistance is primarily untrained civilians and researchers...but what if they weren't. What if an actual military unit survived. What if the combine faced an equal.

Judging by the number of bullets needed to down the Combine; I bet these guys really wish they went the Half-Life HD pack rout and gave them M4s instead of MP5s.
Or at least HK53Es which are basically 5.56mm MP5s.
I always wondered why the hell the HECU were going into Black Mesa mainly armed with SMGs, i.e. things that do poorly against heavily-armored opponents such as Grunts or bespectacled scientists in charged HEV suits. Even weirder is how they all have grenade launchers attached to said SMGs, but only team leaders (red beret guys) are the ones firing them.

Like how all the way into Counter Strike: Source (if I remember correctly) characters yanked on the Forward Assist lever to chamber a round into the M4. Why the wierd MP5; someone on the team probably saw a picture of one of the extremely rare and wierd MP5s that had a Grenade launcher on it (it actually existed IRL and Jonathan Furguson talked about it on gamespot) and decided to use that on an MP5SD because it looked cooler.

Is this normal HECU or PA guys from Opposing Force? Or a mix of normal guys and the ones in armor?
Can combine vehicles shoot down missiles like in the game or are ArmA 3 missile not possible to intercept?
They seem to be HECU, hence Rimmy's voice filter and the guys using the urban camo patterns the HECU troopers wore
@@VegetaLF7 both are HECU, however HECU in Opposing Force used Power Armor(PA for short) derived from HEV suits. The latter ones would eat Combine for breakfast.
