The best part is that you can tell Shawn is so happy to have not been asked the same 1000 Slipknot questions. Even happier to freely nerd out over something he’s passionate about, and allowed to speak as much as he likes about it. He absolutely enjoyed this interview.
Yeah, I van vouch, the last thing this dude wants to talk about is Slipknot anything. I talked to him years and years ago at a random show and he never once talked about his own band, only all the younger bands he was trying to get exposure for.
That’s what I care about the most in an interview. There’s literally THOUSANDS of interviews with slipknot members about slipknot. And the members themselves are most likely beyond sick of talking about ‘work’ for several decades, basically every day of their lives.
I love seeing the artists I like get to just enjoy themselves and talk about what they themselves love. They’ve earned it

Shawn always answers questions so philosophically, no matter how basic the question. Respect on him for what’s he’s accomplished
Not really. He has no musical ability whatsoever in a band of "9" that realistically only needs to be 4. I really like Sid though so we can keep him in. Clown is really good at marketing, business, and sounding like he's philosophical. He's creative with telling stories. The most surprising thing is it sounds like he actually knows a little bit about programming. Probably hung around with enough developers and coders to be able to mirror the language, just like he's hung around enough musicians to mirror the language of a band.
@@noperception5073bruh slipknot wouldn't be slipknot without all 9. they all are songwriters and the masks and them being 9 members and their overall appearance on stage is what makes them slipknot. sure, it could sound close removing some members. but they wouldn't bring the same music and perhaps the band would've never even been made. no need to be salty and for negativity, just appreciate the band :)

As unorthodox as this interview was, this is some raw real shit that you never get to see. This is some of yalls favorite artist spilling his guts about a personal passion/hobby. A rare glimpse into the every day life of a member of one of the biggest act rock ever has seen. Can kinda tell this is something he has wanted to get off his chest for a while. Either Nik was in on this and this was a planned topic, or he was a good sport who probably threw up after this and cried 🤣 Either way im glad it went down. Give us more.

I feel like to Clown it's more refreshing to talk about something else other than Slipknot 😆 on that note though it's funny to hear him talking about games and minecraft servers but also cool that he is passionate about this

Everyone is like "he didn't talk about music, derr" well no he talked about his passion. That is all it is. Why bash that? The dude is in Slipknot and has been doing music for a while. Maybe he's tired of the same old interviews asking "who's the new drummer" "What's Corey up to" "What's Slipknots future" just enjoy something outside of music for once 🤷🏻♂️

The man knows his stuff. An OG for sure. Game creation was one of my first passions. There's something incredibly deep and somehow esoteric about the interactive nature of games as a shared art medium. Eventually as I got older I decided that being stuck behind a computer wasn't for me, turned into a massive hippie... eventually turned away from that, turned to metal, doom and now, in my 40's i've come back full circle... post doom hippie... and It's still an interest to this day. I think we're only just seeing what the medium is capable of.
Shawn explaining quake, and the rocket launchers with the power jumping, and everything of the sort is so true to my own experience. I couldn't stop laughing.

That was genuinely one of the best interviews I've watched! Guys like Shawn have had the same interview millions of times over and to hear one that was just him sharing a passion project with us is freaking awesome!
Slipknots 1st album was the only time I ever waited in line for a midnite release. Was a 3hr round trip for a CD but f'n worth it. I will never forget thier show @ Pops in STL opening for coal chamber in '98. I've been to 154 metal/hardcore shows & that one will always be #1. My grandkids are gonna hear about it too. This is the Clown interview I didn't know I needed. 90 minutes of personally relatable topics and, most unexpectedly, the first NFT concept that my brain doesn't immediately reduce down into a grift.
Your brain has been washed well. There is a cure tho. Listen to slipknot selftitled-Iowa days.
As much as this minecraft server actually sounds like it could be really cool, as someone who's run several servers, having an infinite survival world in multiplayer for a long time is just not sustainable. Think of stuff like 2b2t. It never resets, and it's the reason a lot of people play the server, but also the reason a lot of people don't play the server. It's really hard to see it lasting a long time.
The dome thing sounds cool though. I think that could be a massive success, especially if you get kits that you get more access to as you get more kills or whatever. I'm open to paid kits as long as you can't just buy your way to the best kits.
TLDR I think the survival won't last, and the dome could be super cool and unique.
Edit: Having music discs from different bands as well as slipknot and being able to build a catalogue could be really fun.
Also I would've liked to hear a bit about the band and a little more insight into the reason Jay departed/was fired. BUT This is a Clown interview not a Slipknot interview. This interview is happening BECAUSE of the minecraft server, nothing to do with the band. The reason Slipknot is in the title is to tell people who Shaun is, because not everyone knows who he is.

I love this! I’m 52 yrs old and have been a game nerd since pong and super break out. I broke my intelevision by taking it apart to see how it worked! My kids & I are gamers, artists, musicians and all slipknot fans! Back in about 2012 my son was like 11-12 and my daughter was like 7 and they lived to play the sims and they had a ton of the expansions and one was the ability to create your own skins and I showed them how to use the digital camera and scanner and pretty soon after they had made slipknot as their neighbors and Frankenstein and his bride , Rob Zombie, my son recreated the cabin from evil dead and Ash! There was Batman and the joker and in so much detail and the creativity and amount of work that they put in was nuts. I am sad that I didn’t understand how to preserve it and make it permanent somehow.(if that’s even possible. But it sounds like this is exactly what He’s making on a newer better platform and it’s just great to see and I am kinda reinvigorated and inspired by the way he’s so excited and making something shareable and lasting! And family is at its core. Nerdy and awesome and very human and connected with and for the best things! What a trip the way art and culture, music, and family of all kinds whether your born in or your chosen family, it all connects and when your intentional and inclusive in how your create and share, it really takes on a life of its own eventually! This was great and thanks to you both for sharing it with us.

57 years old here. I have been a huge fan for years! And after watching this interview I'm an even bigger fan of Clown! Huge gamer from the start just like him! Gaming got me into IT back in 1993 and still doing it and gaming since. While listening to the greatest music ever! You are a legend Clown and would love to meet you one day.

So cool to have a dad who not only co created one of the most popular metal bands but games. I'd love a game from his twisted mind and hell, even a slipknot themed game. Young or old, nerds are nerds. We think someone like him lives in a dethklok type home and plays nothing but dark games but of course, he did, just after 40 years, grew out of it or gets enough dark and edginess on tour.
