Not in the Best Mood for my February Visit to Six Flags over Texas

  • February 24-25, 2024: After nearly 2 months of being stuck at home, due it being yet another miserable winter, with temperatures seeming to get colder and colder every year, deeper into the South, preventing Texas from having any weekend days that were over 35 degrees, we finally had our first weekend of tolerable weather all year. So I made the trip, despite having an appliance issue that had just popped up at home, that would need to be replaced, with further repairs, totaling over $2000. Since there was no reason to rush that replacement, I continued on with the weekend plans, but it didn't put me in the best mood.
In addition, my Honda Fit got vandalized in the preferred parking lot. I do not blame Six Flags over Texas for that at all. It's totally on whoever did it. Fortunately for me, they weren't very good, and it didn't cost me any money. But I did decide with that to not use the preferred lot at this park anymore, even though my diamond pass gives me preferred parking. I guess someone in the preferred lot didn't like seeing a small, cheaper car in their lot, and wanted to send me a message that I don't belong there. That's fine by me. I'll get a few extra steps in, and park along side my fellow middle-class people in general parking.
Even with those things, I did enjoy my time at the park. I needed the getaway, even though the large crowds kept me from getting as many rides in as I did on my previous visit. Without the all-season flash pass, I would've gotten far less done. So it's good to note that a non-summer weekend with nice weather, following numerous terrible-weather weekends, will draw a huge crowd.

I'm glad that despite the setbacks, you still enjoyed yourself. That vandal perhaps doesn't realize that he/she is the fool and you're the smart one. A car is a depreciating asset and it's much smarter to spend 15-20k for a vehicle than 50k, that too 50k for a huge gas guzzling SUV/truck which means high gas expenses.
I'll admit, I do have a fear of heights so I'm wary of roller coasters but that's a fear I want to overcome. I'm also excited about the new Universal theme park that's being constructed right now in Frisco and is expected to open in mid 2026

That new Universal park will be a kids park, but it will still be interesting to see what it's like. I've had a fear of heights too, and I still do if I'm not locked into ride restraints. It took awhile before I lost that fear while on rides, but I kind of miss having those butterflies.
Of course, with my car, I can only make guesses as to why someone would mess with someone else's car that they don't even know. I didn't park over any lines, and I wasn't aware of anything I did while driving or walking in that was inconsiderate. I can only speculate that it was someone not liking seeing a cheap, small car in the "rich people" lot. At least it wasn't any permanent damage. I did buy my Mirage a week before this trip, but I drove the Honda Fit this time. I wasn't ready to take the brand new car out of town yet.

@@OklahomaCoasterFanI miss getting scared too. But then I get on Skyscreamer and I remember the feeling 😊.

@@stephengurr8365 Actually, those still get me too. The one on Galvestons pier was the most freaky.

Sorry to hear about your car. Six Flags Over Texas always seems to have operational challenges when I've gone. Only Discovery Kingdom has been worse in terms of operations within the Six Flags chain than Over Texas.

My car was alright. It just was very surprising. SFOT did better with operations 2 weekends ago, but more weather issues recently set them back again. It's been by far the worst year ever for weather in the area. I only had one day at Discovery Kingdom, and they did well outside of Medusa being closed until the last couple hours.
