The moment has finally arrived: After years of being told to play Higurashi, we're finally doing it!
Only to be immediately hit by a curse. Between getting sick and things randomly breaking on stream, it's not the warmest welcome we get.
After the game starts us off by witnessing a murder (?), we get to follow 15 year old Keiichi Maebara as he gets to adjust to his new life in the picturesque 1980's Japanese countryside. Hinamizawa is a quiet and quaint place where nothing ever happens. Or so it seems.
It's a nice, boring life. Shame if anything happened to it... no?

Unrelated, bomething that probably didnt translate at all in the english translation is that Mion's way of speech is very masculine, so she is kind of a tomboy.

One thing I noticed is that you are playing with the new soundtrack, and while it's still pretty good I do recommend using the original sountrack (Which can be changed in the mod menu.) This is because the new soundtrack cuts out all of the songs used in the first four chapters due to licensing issues. (Those songs were taken from various sound libraries, and I guess later official releases might get in legal trouble.)

Huh, we didn't even know there was more than one OST. We're gonna look into it! Depending on what the licensing issues are, we might not swap to that tho. Then again, more reason for everybody else to get the game and play it themselves to check out the other songs. 😎

@@MyFavoriteLetterIsEggs The playthroughs I've seen use the original soundtrack haven't gotten in any trouble as far as I know so you should be okay. (I was just speculating on why the soundtrack was replaced, I don't know if it was licensing issues or some other reason.)

My issue with chapter 1 is that a bunch of club activities are card games, and I dont know any of the rules to the games so its hard to follow, plus describing a card game with word doesnt seem very interesting.

Same, but I think that depends mostly on whether you recognize the games they play. When they played a game I knew, I thought way less hard about the description, because I was able to picture it better. With the games I didn’t know, I felt pretty lost, because I wanted to understand the game but didn’t manage just based on the description.
Ultimately I think the most important part of these scenes is to show you their daily life and them bonding over these competitions. So invoking an intensiveness carries the point across, even if players like me get lost halfway because the game doesn’t become fully clear. - Jack
