If the idea of creating your own blending combinations scares you, let's break down the color selection process. This is easier than you think!
Note: This video is not a step by step coloring tutorial. This is a lesson on color selection, intended to encourage you to begin coloring with your unique and special artistic voice. Become the artist you were born to be by taking this easy step towards expressive and original artwork.

What a nice way to start Saturday morning, with an Amy video. Live starting my day with my favorite CZcams artists!
Awww, thank you! I'm an early bird too, so we're probably enjoying the sunrise and a cup of coffee or tea at the same time.
@@AmyShulke …well Amy…just for the record; my day, on a good one, starts around 8am. I’m more likely to watch the sunset than rise. I worked the night shift for over 20yrs because I hated getting up in the morning…lol.
But, I do enjoy staring my day with my favorite CZcams videos…
Hi Amy, I am so happy to be sitting here watching one of your videos. After Christmas with the family, I had to take a few days and just rest, lol. Your picture with those purples are just stunning! I am going to sign up for your The Blend, and all the other courses, but sometimes I think I will never achieve these types of results...but I won't know until I try, right! Thank you so much for sharing!🥰
I don't do anything exclusive or unattainable. Keep in mind that I've been using markers for decades and I've trained in other mediums (which affects how I use markers) but I'm not magic. Everything that I've learned, you can learn too! Take your time, think about the lessons in the off-hours when you're not at your coloring desk, and be kind to yourself as you learn. You can also ask lots of questions in the Blend forum and over on Facebook-- many excellent students are there who have all been in your shoes. You can do this!
@@AmyShulke Thank you Amy. I do understand what you're saying. There's something about me that I don't wish to say in this comment section. I will message you later.
I like the “Copic gets it right sometimes” comment. At least their color system makes sense. I’ve seen other Copic wannabe markers with color number systems that leave me scratching my head!! 🤔
Another great video explaining the methods of your madness 😁
LOL, madness is a good word for it all. And I hear ya on the numbering system. When Copic first came out, the numbers didn't seem like anything special but as they added more colors, it was clear they had a plan. OLO has a nice system too, with room to grow. Wish other marker companies (and even paint or pencil brands) respected their customers enough to make their system make sense.
I really love those tips. Thanks, I love markers and color pencils, because I love to sketch, I am not a proffesional on this field but I love to draw also I love pen and ink too.
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you for explaining your process! Coming to Copic markers from the craft world, learning to blend using standard blending groups and copying color recipes was initially enough. Now I am ready for more! Reality check: I am not interested in learning to draw. I will continue to happily color stamped images. I want the autonomy to confidently choose my own color blends and achieve greater realism. I am ready to dig out that specialty no line ink pad and learn how to add detail by putting my Prismacolor pencils to good use. I am enrolled in the next session of The Blend class and very much looking forward it!
Excellent! There's been a small burst of enrollments in the past week, so there will be others working through the course along with you! Great to have you on board.
Thank you for sharing your expertise.. Really enjoy your videos.
You're welcome Trudie! Thanks for watching and I appreciate the feedback!
Your blending is so beautiful and professional 😍 ❤ 😊 Great video.
Thank you so much!
Aaww dear Amy, found your Account and love it and your Videos ❤❤❤ thank you very much for your explanations 💗🫶💗
Welcome to the channel! Thanks for the feedback too. I'll be doing this with more colors, got any requests?
