  • The all-new small SUV, which was originally scheduled to launch in Australia in late 2023 but is now available in India, has been postponed until late 2025 due to high demand in its home country, where it set a record with 100,000 sales in only ten months.
The small SUV, which is made in India, is around the same size as the Mazda CX-3, but it should be less expensive with comparable equipment and a mildly hybrid drivetrain that uses less fuel.
Given that it may take up to 18 months for the Suzuki Fronx to arrive in local dealerships, local pricing is still subject to change. However, Michael Pachota, general manager of automobiles at Suzuki Australia, believes the car will be a huge hit."Fronx will be a huge seller - I can see big volume there," he declared, projecting that the vehicle's broad appeal in Australia's new-car market will come from its competitive pricing and high equipment levels.
Suzuki is making an effort to defy the trend of rising new car prices in Australia by keeping its lineup of competitively priced compact vehicles available.
Although Pachota would not comment on whether the Fronx will start at roughly $20,000, she did say, "I think it'll be priced right."
The Kia Picanto mini hatch and the replaced MG3 light hatch are the only two new cars that are still under $20,000 in price. The Ignis, which it will replace, is priced from $21,490 including on-road charges.
Suzuki just shocked everyone with its competitively priced 2017 Swift light hatch, a mild hybrid that can be had for less than $25,000 drive-away.The Fronx is probably going to be less expensive than the Swift because it is manufactured in India, where labor costs are lower than in Japan, where the Swift is manufactured.
"Imagine how sharply we can position Fronx, if Swift pricing is any indication," the Suzuki executive exclaimed.
At 3995mm in length, the city-savvy Suzuki Fronx is around the same size as the Toyota Yaris Cross. Top-spec models in India include a respectably extensive list of features, beginning with a 7.0-inch central touch screen that supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto updates over the air (OTA).
Top-tier Fronx grades also come equipped with 16-inch alloy wheels, a 360-degree surround-view parking camera system, cruise control, a wireless phone charger, and a head-up display.
